• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    I need your feedback

I actually bought one from the maker before Dave announced he was selling them (I would have bought from Dave if I hadn't already had one, I thinks he's actually cheaper). Anyway, it is the best one I have ever used.

    things to know when travelling

While the rest may or may not be true (some I know are and some I can't say one way or the other) I take exception to the one about sales tax. They mentioned Value Added Tax (VAT) as an alternative in other countries. They said it is included in the price. At least in the UK (I known it was as...

PAINT COLOR MATCH FOR 2017 Champagne Metallic RTL

Unfortunately, the only colors they have for '17 RTLs are blue and pearl.

    bike insurance

As others have said, how much you are charged depends on where you are and how you (and others in your demographics) have behaved in the past. But there are two companies I will never do business with, unless I have ABSOLUTLY no other option. When renewal time came I asked my Allstate agent how...

    Let's Talk Horns....

I have an earlier model on my Vic, but the current works the same way, just less parts. It's as loud as the others and it gives you the option to not be loud if you want. A quick press and release gets you the not so loud. Hold the button for more than a quarter second and you know it's there...

Insurance - Anyone have any history with Markel?

The company my bike insurance is with spells their name: Markel. I haven't had to make any claims, but the premium and coverage is right. While everyone else is telling their insurance story, I'll tell mine. When I first got my bike, I would have gone with USAA just because if they had it, they...

US imposes 300% import tariff on Bombardier

The article states: "The US Chamber of Commerce has rejected an appeal against the huge tariffs it has imposed..." I must be missing something, as the COC is not a government agency, when does a private organization get to impose tariffs?

    Helmet Holders

Not only is my strap not long enough, but the d-rings aren't big enough to fit over the hook. I invested in the Lidlocks, but if I had thought of it I probably would have done the chock chain thing.

Spyder Insurance Cost VS 2 Wheeled Bike Insurance Cost

I have an USAA umbrella policy (they actually pawned it of to someone else like they do their bike insurance) but I'm not required to have Progressive (I have Markel). My only requirements are minimums on my deductibles and liability.

    HELP

Newer bikes (sometime in '17 model year) come with a usb port and mini-jack port instead of the apple connector. Use your own apple to usb cable to plug your apple into the usb port and you can use the bike's control panel. If you have a non-apple mp3 player with a mini-jack plug use the other...

    GARMIN BASECAMP

I don't know if any of the sites you found will tell you, but Garmin doesn't support BaseCamp for the 660, it's hidden in some small print on their site. Turn points will transfer just fine, but it's hit or miss when you transfer a route to the 660. Sometimes when I did a route transfer my 660...

    Bluetooth setup question

In my case it appears that location or nicked wires have nothing to do with my transmission problems, my RT-L just doesn't like Bluetooth. My dealer installed the Sena transmitter for free after I bought it from them. It doesn't matter if it is in the front or back, the transmission cuts out for...

    GARMIN PROBLEMS

Mine will charge if plugged in by the USB port but it doesn't know when it is plugged into the bike. That tells me the GPS is fine but there is something wrong on the bike's side. My dealer will looking into this when I take it in tomorrow.

    Gasoline

Spreadsheets I'm running a test of ten tanks of mid grade and ten of premium to figure my fuel cost per mile. I'm applying the actual cost for each at the pump and am halfway through the premium run. Yes, the premium costs more but my mileage is up enough that the cost per mile is the same. Now...

Download a Google map to my 660

Be careful using BaseCamp with your 660. The small print on Garmin's site says the two aren't compatible, that you need to use MapSource. By experience you can use BC to create waypoints and transfer to your 660 but you can't send actual routes directly from BC to the 660 (you can send it to...

    Flag and National Anthem protests

First Amendment My two cents: This issue is not, and has never been, a First Amendment free-speech issue. That only applies to the government, and I don't know of a single government entity that has tried to stop or punish any of the participants. That includes a certain high ranking official...

Motorcycle GPS vs Car (Portable) GPS?

On their web site, Garmin says the lifetime map updates are good for the life of the product. They then define "the life of the product" as there is enough storage to accept the new maps. The devices I have will use the SD card as map storage.

    Sensible gun control

Regardless of which state you are in there is already harsh punishment on the books for buying guns illegally. Federal law prohibits trying to buy a gun when you've been told you can't (following due process, of course). A lot of people are stopped from buying each year because they are on a...

    California DMV sucks

For other than Florida I can't say it is still true, but it was when I was there: in South Carolina and Georgia, you didn't pay sales tax every year but you did pay property tax annually on your vehicle just like you do on your house. In Idaho you don't pay sales tax on a vehicle you brought in...
