• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Satellite radio on a 2012 RT Limited

Thank you for the information, very helpful. Where can I look for information like this so I don't have to keep asking for help?

Satellite radio on a 2012 RT Limited

I did find a used XM receiver only, removed from a similar Spyder by a salvage outfit. I already have the entertainment harness so what else would I need, besides an antenna, and where could I find installation guidance. I would want to do the work myself.

    Spyder reliability (long term)

Just as a follow up, I replaced the Throttle Body hoses and started using Seafoam on a regular basis and that cleared up the injector issue. It does appear that many of the issues were indeed caused by the new mechanic at the dealer. When I did a oil change I discovered that the mechanic had...

Satellite radio on a 2012 RT Limited

So it follows that if you were in an area with no cellular service, and no wireless wifi, that you would also have no XM satellite music. Granted that only happens occasionally, not a majority of the time. I came across this issue in the Rocky Mountains, In Glacier N.P., no cellular service but...

Satellite radio on a 2012 RT Limited

I swapped out the stock 660 GPS for an existing 665 and have had wonderful music on my ride until very recently. Thanks Jack

Satellite radio on a 2012 RT Limited

I looked into that possibility but as I frequently like to go to some pretty desolate areas, many without cellular service, the streaming function would not work if you don't have service. I have very rarely had an issue with the XM on the Garmin, only the very occasional instance where...

Satellite radio on a 2012 RT Limited

I currently have a 2012 RT Limited which I am planning on handing down to my wife for a newer model for us to take on long trips. my questions are: 1. On my 2012 I have always received XM satellite music over the Garmin Zumo 665 GPS, this unit is failing and Garmin no longer makes any version...

How to Mod 2020RT riding position to be closer to F3- any ideas?

What does the F3 Limited lack that the RT has that cannot be reasonably changed and/or added. I have a 2012 RT Limited that is getting a little long in the tooth but it is very comfortable for me. It took a long time and a lot of $$$ to get it there but it it works for now, but I keep drooling...

    Another tire post

Hi all: I am sorry to have to make this post but I have become quite confused. I know that there are many, many posts on tires and I looked at many of them but they still haven't answered my question. I have a 2012 RT Limited and need new tires all around. I had the dealer replace my rear tire...

2012 RT Limited drive belt question

Thanks all for the good advice. To date I checked and reset the tension, it was too high. Then I tied back the tensioner and applied the grease. THE NOISE IS GONE!!!! It is safe to remove the tensioner entirely?

2012 RT Limited drive belt question

The tension was indeed set by the dealer. As this dealer has screwed up my Spyder before I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't done correctly also. I will get the tool and at the same time check the tensioner and try the grease. Thanks for some great ideas!

2012 RT Limited drive belt question

I am looking to the community for advice on this. I have a 2012 RT Limited which has around 39000 miles on the clock. When I ride the Spyder I hear a high pitched whine coming from the left side of the Spyder, near the belt. Inspection shows that the belt appears to be fine but it does whine. I...

    998cc 2012 RTSE Transmission filter

I'm not aware of one in Elmhurst, I am now using Nielsen's in Lake Villa, but they were not the one that screwed up my Spyder last year.

    998cc 2012 RTSE Transmission filter

I know what you are saying. I have changed my own oil all but twice since I got the bike. The dealer changed it the first time after I bought the bike, and charged me over $300 for the job. I understand why they charge that much but it seemed a lot of money so I have changed it myself every time...

    998cc 2012 RTSE Transmission filter

I found that the first time I changed the oil and filter, so now I do first one, and then the other.

Does Anyone Tow Their Spyder with a Subaru Outback?

Be cautious and make sure to check your Outback's trailer rating. I just returned from trailering my RT, on the back of my Hyundai Santa Fe, back and forth to Yellowstone N.P. The manual claims a towing rating of 3000 pounds. I used an Aluma aluminum trailer, weight around 1000 pounds, add the...

    Spyder reliability (long term)

Thanks for all the information. I do indeed intend to take a crack at fixing this issue myself as I have lost all confidence in the dealer that I bought this Spyder from. I was appalled last year to find out that the sole mechanic at this dealer had no prior experiance in repairing motorcycles...

    Spyder reliability (long term)

I purchased my Spyder from a dealer that claimed that the original customer bought it from him, his shop maintained it, and then the customer traded it in for a new three cylinder unit. He claimed that it had previously had no problems.

    Spyder reliability (long term)

Do I simply have unreal expectations or did I buy a P.O.S. Spyder. I purchased my 2012 Spyder RT used in the spring of 2016, it only had 10,000 miles on it so I believed at the time that I was getting a good unit. As this was my first Spyder, I have been riding two wheel bikes for over 50 years...

    Glacier National Park

I agree that after the Going to the Sun road the Many Glacier area is spectacular with several excellent hiking trails if that is an option for you. Many Glacier is one of the best areas in the park to see wildlife, best mostly early morning. Also the drive up to Waterton is well worth it. Two...
