• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How many of us have those Magic Magnetic mirror mounts?

I too have the Magic Mirrors. But I don't use the top magnet. I like the stock top holder. I hang the top part of the mirror first. Then the mirror just falls in place. I used all 3 at first but the mirror fell off when I leaned on it when washing. It can't fall off now. And I don't use the...

    My Spyder Obsession...

Thanks for the interest pegasus. I have an older brother Ken Frick who is a writer and photographer. Brother Ken has had several stories published in Cycle magazine. He wrote about me in the October 2014 issue of Cycle. It's called Chuck's Race, A Quest for Miles. It's about my battle with...

    Plano TX Headquarters

So true... As I've seen lately, Cheap Cycle Parts are pretty close to OEM BRP parts. And if ordered your part will be on your doorstep in about 4-5 days. Now if you can install said part, that's on you. But that's a dealer to dealer pricing thing. Chuck

How do you find out manufactured date on Kenda Tires ?

Quite right. I didn't know a 3rd world tire had such a number. Pretty popular tire on lawn mowers. My zero turn has Kendas on the front. It has no tread at all, just flat all across. Chuck

    My Spyder Obsession...

I can relate.... All the bikes I've owned over the years all seemed to have some kind of homing signal, that meaning I'd best get home or when I do, I'll catch it. But my RT-S has no such signal. Instead it has a mind all it's own. It just simply won't turn when it is commanded. Those 25...

    My Spyder Obsession...

Some folks think I have an obsession about ryding my 2014 RT-S. I do like to ryde it. But this has been a bad season. There was the accident I had in late May. Then there were wear and tear parts that needed replaced. Now the weather has turned here in Ohio. My odometer has barely moved, only...

    160,000 mile report

Not so! My service manager opened a case with BRP asking if my BEST warranty would cover the radiator swap. NO was the answer. So I opened a case with BRP. We'll see how that turns out. I get a call today, (Tuesday) from the dealer. The new parts came in and were installed on my '14 RTS. It...

    160,000 mile report

Under warranty?? Thank you Ann!! I did buy the extended warranty through BRP. Good through 10-19-2019 In the morning I'm calling the dealer and have a talk. You may have saved me a Benjaman! I love those Benjamins, but as soon as I see one, they're gone. Chuck

    I'm new to BRP

Exactly At those prices, and the fact BRP now has the Ryker models, it's a bad time to sell used Spyders, any year or model. I may consider a Ryker when my dealer gets them in stock. Chuck

    160,000 mile report

Every 20,000 miles or so I write about servicing or any problems with my 2014 RT-S. This has been a very bad year for my ryding. I started out strong with 10,000 miles before May. But after an accident on May 30th, I have only 6,000 miles since. At first it was me. It took 43 days to get back on...

    saddlebag hinge replacement

Right side hinge. My right front hinge broke off and I tried to fix it with super glue. Didn't do so well. I sent for Doc's repair kit, tried to do it, and still couldn't do it. I should say here I'm handicapped and can't lay down to do what needs done. My super glue "fix" gummed things up...

    2012 spyder died

I had this too. I agree with all this. Sounds like the battery and or connections. MY '14 RT would be cruising right along then just die, at speed. Coast to the side of the road and it would take a few minutes but then start. I got no codes. I had it to the dealer twice. They dug a little...

    A follow up...

All mine in miles. I had a mishap May 30th. Since then I've only ridden 1700 miles. Some of that was because I lost confidence. But most was because of the condition of my '14 RT-S. Back then I asked my dealer what was going on with my belt. He showed me a rear sprocket from an RT that had...

    A follow up...

That's the case. With over $600 in the belt and rear sprocket I wanted to be sure the front drive was still in tune. I checked it out and agreed with the service manager it would last. Another 160,000, well, we'll see. Chuck

    A follow up...

Yes, seriously I do like to ryde my Spyder. As long as I can lift a leg over, I want 200,000. Chuck

How long will the drive belt last?

123,000? I'd never heard of any RT that had a belt last longer than mine. My original croaked at 108,000. I just replaced my new one, it lasted 51,000 but it's premature demise was caused by a worn rear sprocket. MY RT-S is a 2014 SE6. Ann's was a 2014 RT-S also but was a manual shift. I would...

    A follow up...

A few weeks ago I wrote a post asking what would make my drive belt wander all over the rear sprocket. I got several opinions, one even suggesting swingarm bearings. (Thanks Gene). All good ideas. So I have the RT in the shop getting the new belt, and new rear tire. I told them to check the...

    2019 rumors

New Spyders? While I was the dealer Tuesday I saw a BRP ATV that had a sign that said 172 HP. I asked about it and was told it used the 1330 three cylinder used in all RT models since 2014. But this 1330 was a turbo. Seems like a good idea, might get me to thinking? Chuck
