• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Cam chain tensioner problem?

Oil brand I started out using the BRP recommended oil. XPE is it? I forgot. I thought it was good enough and the general manager of the dealer said I'd never have any issues with it. However it's a synthetic blend, half synthetic and half conventional. I ran the XPE for 100,000 miles. Now I...

    oil tires and milage

All tires wear different I've tried several brands of rear tires. I ran two Kumho Solus, it was much better than stock Kendas They both lasted around 20,000 miles. Then reading this forum I bought the General Altimax RT43 215-60-15. I get 25,000 plus each of these. I run 20# pressure and they...

    Cam chain tensioner problem?

My 2 cents Been a gear head all my life, overhauled car engines and many motorcycle engines as well. These 1330 ACE engines are a marvel of engineering. Know why the valves don't need adjusting? They're hydraulic. The camshaft has a lobe that pushes a lifter, like a car engine, that lifter...

    Winter - Ride

Been nice here too. We did have a few nice days here to get out and charge the RT's battery (and mine too). So I started it to warm up and found no fluid in the front brake. So I filled it and everything was OK. But I have to fill it every day so I guess a mouse has a hankering for the taste...

    2018 Yamaha Nikon three wheeler

Neowing It's too late in the game for me to try anything new. I'm sold on my '14 RT-S. But it would be fun to see something new. Before my Spyder I rode Honda's for years. Honda has been typically tight lipped on the Neowing. All I can find is pictures. No info on engine size, just a flat 4...

How is it possible for some of you to get all that mileage on your Spyder

I ride becuse I can. When I was very young I rode a 10 speed 2500 miles a year. I'd wear out 2 sets of tires. But I got a paper route and needed something with a motor, at least that's what I told mom. I was 12. I've ridden over a million miles on 2, now 3 wheels. I rode motorcycles then but...

    Highest mileage on ONE Spyder

Nice words Nice words indeed. Thank you Joe and Mike. I am certainly planning to make this westbound ride in May. It's all I think about. When I told the much better half about it she said I should go. Now she's pushing me out the door! If I can do this it can give me an fortitude to take the...

    Highest mileage on ONE Spyder

Parts and maintenance. As far as oil, I used the BRP XPS oil for about 90,000 miles but changed to Amsoil. The man who owns the land behind my place sells it and sold me on it. I used it before on several of my bikes and never had any problems with it. My second season I had the DESS issues...

    Highest mileage on ONE Spyder

A monthly report? Maybe I'll write a monthly report on miles, and any issues I may ride into. I have the OEM rear wheel bearings. My next tire change I'll have those replaced too. In July '16 I averaged 2000 miles a week. I rode 17, 2000 mile weeks that summer and ended that season with over...

    Highest mileage on ONE Spyder

Just getting warmed up! That would be me. I bought my Pearl White RT-S in June '14. Right now as it sits in my garage in Ohio it has just turned over 148,000 miles. I may get to add to this today since it's 58 outside! I haven't reached 50,000 in one riding season yet but if my health and my...

    RT-S Rear Tire

I agree! I tried the Kumho Solus and was marginally happy with it. It lasted about 16,000 miles but like the Kenda, it wore in the middle. But that was before I knew 28 psi was what cars use. Then I tried the General 215-60-15 and ran it at 20 psi. Mike is right on about this tire, it's...

    camera

Thanks Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. I'm running out of time ryding and I do want some recordings of my favorite roads in Ohio so I can replay later in life. Thanks again! Buckeye Chuck

    camera

I read on here... Not long ago there was a thread on here about cameras. One poster had a camera mounted on the dash right behind the windshield. It also had a rear view camera mounted above the license plate. That's what I'd like to have. I hope he, or she, posts this again. Chuck

    Hey, I know you....

I agree I haven't read a better thread on SL! Lots of fun. I didn't know there was a "Y" bridge in Kamloops B.C.! Or a Chillicothe in Missouri! Some have heard of State Route 555, AKA 'Triple Nickle" that runs south from Zanesville to Hockingsport Ohio on the Ohio river. Keep the comments...

    Hey, I know you....

I'm from Zanesville Ohio, 50 miles east of Columbus on I-70. We have one of the very few "Y" bridges in the world where the Muskingum and Licking rivers meet. Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio and sportscaster Dan Patrick and Buckeye Chuck 54 are all from here. It was once the...

Does it really take 300 miles?

My Sate Farm... I have been riding since I was 11, bought a Honda 50 Sport. Many years and 24 bikes later my health got to where I had trouble holding 2 wheels up at a stop. I was riding a 2004 BMW R1150RTn my favorite bike of all time. The dealer I dealt with had a shop in New Philadelphia...

    New tires!

I used Kumho Solus front tires on my '14 RT-S in the 155-60-15 size for over 94,000 miles, 2 sets. The first set lasted over 46,000 miles, I thought I had found my tire. Both these sets never wore down to the wear bars, just wore at the edges, and those edges were bald. The only problem with...

    Life of the Drive Belt

That is correct. I have never adjusted or done anything to my belt. My dealer does all my tire changes, it's a lot easier to hand my card. I don't have a cricket so I don't know what the tension is. It does seem loose. I check the belt when I change my oil, check each tooth. The original...
