• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Riding in Cool/Cold Weather

No hibernate MY '14 RT gets run all year. In winter sunshine makes all the difference. If it's dry I can get out for a few miles in the 30's. I've got a heated seat and grips, a good pair of gloves and I'm good to go. Maybe someday I'll spring for a heated vest. Chuck

2014 RT front tires wearing unevenly at 12k miles - what's going on?

Change in pressure The OEM tire pressure was set at 23, and after alignment and new tires I noticed after too long it was 30. The right front was worn badly on the inside and cupped all across, left cupped too. That's when I had the front end checked. I then changed to Federal EVO's, but had to...

2014 RT front tires wearing unevenly at 12k miles - what's going on?

Tire wear My OEM Kenda's lasted 23,000 miles. I though that wasn't bad, I could live with that. Then I had my '14 RT-S laser aligned. The second set lasted less than 6000. I thought they screwed up the alignment and took it back. But it tested spot on. I don't use Kenda tires any longer. The...

    18,700 first 12 months

Retirement is underrated! Retirement is great. I get to ryde most anytime I want, and I do. Ryde about 200 miles a day. Have 40,466 miles this year, 141,700 total. Hopefully the winter holds off here in Ohio, I'm trying for 150K. Bought another oil change yesterday, the 5th this summer. Had to...

    Belt Tensioner

Bought mine from Doc. I didn't even consider any other damper than Doc's. Very happy with it. The kit comes with everything needed. It was an easy install too. It was bought in late May and has over 34,000 miles on it, no problems. Buy Doc's, I think it's the best. Chuck

lost 19 teeth from my drive belt

Thanks IGETAROUND No, the original belt lasted 108,352 miles. When I bought my Spyder new I asked the salesperson how long the belt would last. He said some people have over 60,000 miles with no problems. I was skeptical. I'd never owned any kind of cycle that was driven by belt. I just didn't...

lost 19 teeth from my drive belt

Update Some Spyder ryders just like to ride on sunny Sunday afternoons. Some Spyder ryders will take their bikes to the 7-11 for a half gallon of milk. Some Spyder ryders just like to ride. This Spyder ryder loves his Spyder. It's almost perfect for me. (it's kinda hard to see the...

    Upgrade or No upgrade....from a 2010 to a 2016 or 2017 ?

Sure thing. The only way to lose fluid, if everything else is working properly, is the pads wearing. This spring I bought Bajaron's fully sintered pads and have only added fluid twice. But I was told the last time I had my rear tire changed I was getting close again. Before I bought Ron's pads...

    hard start when warm

Where is it? June 13th of 2014, with 1 mile on it, the salesman, Vinnie, told me to not "top off the tank". But then he added maybe not, he wasn't sure if this problem was fixed with the '14's. It was a problem with previous RT models. I have ridden this bike lots of miles and do most of...

2,100 miles and stranded 3 times. Help

A '14 with 2100 miles? A '14 with that few miles has to sit for months. It seems to me the bike is upset for collecting dust. If I decide to not ride on a certain day I see a teardrop in my RT's headlights. 140K on my RT-S and still runs like new. Chujck

    Upgrade or No upgrade....from a 2010 to a 2016 or 2017 ?

Brake failure! The first time I got this warning I was worried if I'd make it home. It turns out it just needs a little brake fluid. It doesn't need much. Chuck

    hard start when warm

My '14 too I've been having starting issues as well. I've been told on here it's a purge valve, or vapor cannister plugged. My dealer knows about it and they will check it out, someday. maybe this winter when I tend to slow down some. Try opening the fuel cap when you stop. I do and it helps...

lost 19 teeth from my drive belt

My belt failure My belt did the same thing. While riding at 75 mph I heard and felt something wrong. I pulled over and saw 2 teeth on my belt gone. No worries, or so I thought. I made it 3 more miles and 10 were gone. I did make it home, about a third, gone. It was a cascade failure, one or two...

New bikes - what they could have done better

300 HP..boat. BRP makes a 300 horsepower 1550cc turbo for a personal watercraft. I really thought they would have that engine available for the '18 lineup. Not too upset about it though, I kinda like my '14. Chuck

Four Hours at a Shell Station Today

I had that too. My '14 RT-S had that same issue, but everything would shut down, while riding. I would coast to the side of the road and after a few minutes it would start right back up. Very scary. I stopped for gas fill up and it died at the pump, with the parking brake still stuck on...

Why Did You Buy A Spyder?

Why I ride I started riding motorcycles when I was 11. My oldest brother, Ken had a red Honda 50 Sport. So I saved my paper route money and bought a 1964 Honda 50. Through the years I owned many bikes, 24 to be exact. Mother had Muscular Dystrophy and before she died she gave it to me. In 2009...

    Reliability on the 2016 Spyders

It did happen, last year! Am I invisable on this forum? Doesn't my avatar show up? My '14 RT-S turned 100,000 miles last November 18th 2016. As soon as I can I'll take a current picture and post it here. Chuck

    Actual tire experience

Kumho Solus I've been running the Kumho Solus KH16 in the 155-60-15 size. This is my second set. I got over 46,000 miles on the first set and have 34,000 miles on the second. Very happy with these tires but may try the Federal's next. I saw the Federals on '13 RT-L Buckeye Bleau rides and was...
