• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Many New High end Motorcycles now provide similar Nanny functionality as the Spyder.

Despite all the technical aids to driving perfection, this morning in Medway, Kent there was a 130 vehicle pile up (including some bikes), in dense fog on a 2-lane highway. No fatalities but some serious injuries requiring hospitalization. When there is fog about I react by slowing down so that...

    Night Riding

It was the unburnt fuel that caused us to part with it. We had a cupboard where we hung our riding gear and it was no fun opening the cupboard door after a day or two, it STANK of 2-stroke oil! Guess what I traded up to? - Kawasaki's 400 twin with a balancer shaft in the motor to make it vibrate...

I've never experienced riding a Royal Enfield, it sounds like the kind of bike India would continue to manufacture, they seem to have a touching regard for British goods. I'm not sure why that should be, perhaps it has its roots in nostalgia. Was the neutral finder effective in all gears? If so...

Your collection of bikes in a usable condition is probably a special case, extremely complicated, but I think you're right, youthful memories are the key, hence the wisdom of the saying, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks". If my wife ever overhears me telling a young person how things were...

    Night Riding

I can attest to that. I had a break of 18 years from motorcycling while we raised a family. Then I bought a Kawasaki KH250, (a smelly 2-stroke with 3 cylinders), and a couple of times I found myself pressing hard on the gear lever instead of the foot brake, usually when stopping urgently was...

    Night Riding

We changed our car from one which had the light controls on the right and the screen wipers on the left of the steering wheel to one which had them the other way round. Took a long time to get used to this even though we KNEW that the controls were now on opposite sides. You feel really stupid...

So Brit bikes were the testbed for Philips and Osram to design better longer lasting bulbs? :joke:

    Night Riding

I remember it well, Bob. But I remain nostalgic about my "primitive" first bike, a Norton Dominator 500 cc twin with Roadholder telescopic forks and a Featherbed frame. In 1958 my drum-braked Dommy was classed as a superbike capable of 85 mph (down a steep hill) carrying 2-up. Now I have to...

    Night Riding

In March 2011 when I got my RT the shared wisdom was to wind up the shocks as a stiffer ride improved the handling and they've been at max ever since. I do remember lifting the low beams a tad using the adjusters (in Europe we have separate low and high beam lamps) but I never knew until now the...

"Blackhole" at the rear of the saddle

Love that description! On that evidence I think my house has many singularities. Stuff goes missing all the time yet there is only my wife and I living here and neither of us are squirrels. Some of it gets found, like the napkin ring which disappeared for about 10 years, it turned up under the...

Vehicle Stability System - Any Way to Make it Less Sensitive?

I don't remember where I read it but the story goes that Bosch were brought to develop the Nanny because BRP discovered that their Spyder prototype could not be ridden safely in its raw state. It badly needed the VSS to make it a safe, viable proposition. Of course, there will be those who's...

Clarification on the Transport Canada safety recall on 2013 Spyder RT and ST

...and in Europe? Please tell me that VOSA (Vehicle & Operator Services Agency) in the UK has been contacted about this fire safety recall.

    Help with fuse box

Thank you for confirming the viability of my .pdf file. CorelDraw is a fast, intuitive illustration program but my (old) version doesn't allow work to be saved as a .jpg file, neither do I have a 3rd party converter to do the same thing. But I do have the option to save a copy of my work as a...

    Help with fuse box

The RT has heated grips for the pax which are switched, so I posi-tapped into that on the LHS. I could have taken it off the lighting circuit but I wanted to fit a power socket for my wife's heated vest to plug into. When the Spyder is parked up at home the socket is used for my CTEK battery...

    Help with fuse box

I used the FZ-1 from www.Fuzeblocks.com and to help me along I made a wiring diagram in Coreldraw. I've reproduced it here as a .pdf file but I'm unsure if anyone but me can open it! Maybe someone will let me know?

    Is it safe...

The frunk is basically a plastic box. Placing your jack under any part of it with the intention of lifting half a ton of trike is not a cool idea. At the very least it will deform the frunk, it might even crack it. If, like me, you're not able to get your trolley jack under the front to where...

    Do these actually work?

They are great for balancing an empty plastic bottle. I wish I had a plastic bottle that I could take down the road for spin! :banghead:

    Belt Tensioner

Yup, to get rid of the belt harmonics that you WILL experience without one. A belt tensioner really does improve the smoothness of the transmission by damping out the vibrations of that long drive belt. Has to be experienced to be believed. As for paying $250, I paid an additional...
