• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    DOS AND DONTS

On the advise for new owners there is a warning to not leave your screen in its lowest position all the time as this can lead to the failure of the bottom arm. That apparently results in a huge bill. I have done about 750 miles in the last couple of weeks akways with it all the way down and...

    FUEL GUAGE ACCURACY

Got a 17 Limited . I have set the trip on fill up but so far have chickened out when the guage shows 1/4 full. I would expect to get about 250 miles out if a tank but as you say there is still fuel there when it shows empty.

    FUEL GUAGE ACCURACY

Up to now on my BMW I've been used to having a fuel guage that counts down the miles left to run. Now with just a traditional guage to go by I was wondering how accurate it is. Run it to empty do I shudder to a stop or like the BMW it runs for at least 20 miles when it says zero.

Garmin 660, versus the Garmin 590

Found that one but with no UK supplier it's expensive. I've ordered one from Amazon for £9. If it's no good it's cheap enough to,put in the bin. We shall see.

Garmin 660, versus the Garmin 590

Ive used the 590 for a couple of weeks now and I struggle to read it in bright light. My previous GPS was a BMW Navigator V which was easy to read but on the BMW RT it is set in the dash so was partly shaded. Maybe my efforts to find a good sunshade for it will improve things.

Garmin 660, versus the Garmin 590

I think the video clearly shows the 590 screen is not as sharp and easy to read as the 660. I'm also considering a sunshade to help but can only find one on EBay that fits various models and is held on with two Velcro straps. It's cheap but looks a bit tatty. Any suggestions on which type to buy.

Garmin 660, versus the Garmin 590

You don't need to remove the battery cover to charge it or connect it to your computer. It doesn't have a built in speaker and the battery doesn't last as long when off external, power. I'm not sure about the screen either having just switched from a BMW Navigator which is an upgraded 660. Not...

    Checking Coolant Level

9 days into ownership I've got to the page in the handbook about checking the coolant level. So I've opened the front and found the panel to remove. Book says remove rivet. HOW. Do you twist, push, attack with a screwdriver or what. Won't do anything for me.
