• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anyone successfully changed sprockets on the F3 Limiteds?

Since the sprockets and belt are essentially dumb the bike can't know what is fitted. However, the feedback must be the encoder disc for the vehicle speed. Using the original encoder will give an engine revs to road speed mismatch. If a replacement encoder is fitted with the same change in ratio...

    Front tire wear

Well I can't speak for all the USA Spyders but generally here in the UK road vehicles do show the effect of the road camber on their front tyres, though here it's the outer edge of the left tyre that has the maximim wear. For USA Spyders it's maybe aye, maybe no. You folks who drive on the...

USES FOR THE CB PTT BUTTON

Although it's an old thread it may be useful to somebody; this can be done, I've done a few non OEM cb installs. Your soldering needs to be very good! The ribbon cable can be cut and the surface plastic scraped away to reveal the copper tracks. The problem is that one track is very thin and...

    Front tire wear

Unless it is excessive then it is normal for a vehicle travelling on the right-hand side of the road. In countries where travelling on the left-hand side is normal then is would tend to be the outside of the left tyre. When travelling on a road with a camber - most roads to some degree - the...

    BIG Problems on 2012 RT!

Sorry, I'm late to your party...Let's hope your battery replacement is the solution but if you have a slightly low brake fluid level you'll get a bunch of codes and it may not select gears or select them improperly. It only takes a small drop below the threshold to trigger the errors. As a fix...

A remarkable discovery ..... Front suspension upgrade

It's just the way of it. Heavy vehicles are generally more comfy, the extra load has inertia and it absorbs energy. If you lay on the ground and someone hit you in the chest with a lump hammer it would do you serious damage but if you put an anvil on your chest first and they hit the anvil...

I Hate To Be Negitive B-U-T

You reckon? If you look closely I think you'll find China cast into the rear wheel. You can be sure it's not the only part.

I Hate To Be Negitive B-U-T

I agree. The concept is excellent but some of the design, materials and finish is shocking. BRP should be embarrassed. Here's just a few pictures from the motley collection of faults. Two different rear sprockets, rear grease seal at less than 400 miles, rusted spacer, corroded rear wheel...

2008 Sypder GS Front Pulley found like this

That's a really good question...I've worked on a bike where the sprocket was in the early stages of rusting, no way was I able to get that sprocket to move using hand pressure or levers. It was dry and I expected it to just slide off since it was a little worn. So off to the get the puller but...

    Red Dust, Sprocket issues

Oops, rereading the above post I didn't make it clear...The 2017 bike on which I replaced the belt and sprocket last week had the recessed sprocket as original fitment but it was replaced with the recent type sprocket which is machined flat on the shaft contact surface.

    Red Dust, Sprocket issues

Personally I would. The 2017 bikes I've seen have the older sprocket with the recess. These are UK bikes and very likely actually made in 2016 though 2017 specification. I fitted a new belt and sprockets to a 2017 last week and it had the recessed sprocket. I pulled the new bolt to 115lbs/ft...

    rear tyre pressure

I'd start at 26psi. See how you feel on the road.

    Red Dust, Sprocket issues

I agree with you and that's where the problem lies. The surface area of cantact with the shaft face and bolt tightening pressure have not been enough to prevent movement of the sprocket relative to the shaft. Hence the fretting and water ingress problem. The most recent sprockets have increased...

    Red Dust, Sprocket issues

I'm with PMK on this. There is many front sprocket failures, the dealers know about the issue and BRP also knows about the issue. Here in the UK BRP does not challenge a claim for a replacement sprocket the issue is so prevalent. However, your 2019 will be fitted with a modified sprocket and it...

Adjust camber on RT front end

There is a difference in the wear pattern between a toe-out condition and a camber issue. If it's camber the wear pattern is one sided but the tread blocks are worn evenly because the tyre is still running straight ahead although side loaded by its lean angle. If it's toe out the inner...

2017 RT Ball Joints need replacing - warranty or not?

Two ways to check them, start with the top ones because the lower ones don't suffer wear as badly. The correct way: support the Spyder under the lower A-arm and remove the front wheel. Attach a dial test indicator to a fixed position on the suspension upright and place the plunger centrally on...

    Steering Bolt Stripping Prevention

Yes, I do that. They are not quite a neat in appearance because they stand a little proud of the bar recess and often have their characteristics stamped on the top edge. I have a machine shop so I skim the top and add a wee chamfer so appearance for me is fine. The standard hex bolt also has an...

    Steering Bolt Stripping Prevention

I can help you with this but before I do I need to make a declaration. I'm in trouble with the moderators for being forthright in my replies. For me, the power of the help forums is in the quality and accuracy of the responses, I never reply to a thread if I haven't got direct experience of the...

    Stripped yet ANOTHER bolt!!!

Yes, well, judging from the admissions in this thread, perhaps they do. There's no substitute for good technique imho.
