• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

Alleluia! Someone give this man a Cigar! (oh wait that's dangerous too) You Sir have an eye for detail (and as they say, the devil is in the details).

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

Or perhaps let's just outlaw motorcycles altogether!

It only gets better from here..... Apparently you are fulfilling your destiny Kevyn.

Are There Still People Out There Who Don't Think Helmets Are Necessary?

That article was hilarious, thanks for the knee slapper. The article actually says that the percentage of motorcyclists killed who are not wearing helmets is higher in states not requiring helmets. No kidding! That's like saying that fewer nude people die in state's that require clothes! It...

    Which exhaust??

RS-S seat has stitching and looks nice, but I don't think it is any serious upgrade. My experience with exposed stitching is that it leaks when it rains.

    Chrome Dipped Rims?

Good point! "sometimes it's close to the same money to get a cool looking aftermarket set ." The BRP rims are actually pretty reasonably priced compared to custom wheels for cruisers.

what do I do with my stock seat

Bar Stool? Foul weather days, you could still pretend you're on the Spyder, plus for parties guests could double up on the stools easing a potential seating shortage.....Just a thought.

    Chrome Dipped Rims?

No problems here..... I haven't done it with the Spyder, but I did have it done on my last bike, a 2006 Stratoliner. I sold that bike this past April and the wheels still looked like the day I had them done. Wish I remembered the name of the vendor, but it was a guy I found on the Star...

    "Nice Snowmobile buddy"!

Snowmobile? Down here if you said it was like a snowmobile a likely response would be "What's a snowmobile?" (Snow is the white stuff on the Christmas cards right?). Hard to compare it with my winter ride when it is my winter ride!

    SE or SM?

The SM is a bit simpler, so a bit more trouble-free. Some on this site have had issues with the extra filter required on the SE. I personally enjoy the SM, but I have not seen any issues that would preclude the SE if I thought I'd prefer it. I had a long history with 2 wheelers, and there is a...

    i wanna ride with shorts

True no place is hotter, but there is something to be said for the dryness. In Louisiana those vests and bandanas (that work off the latent heat of evaporation) are rendered useless by the high relative humidity.

Limp mode on Talladega race track

Yeah, probably best not to go in shorts! Oh sorry, that was a different topic.

Limp mode on Talladega race track

100 Riders X $100.00 I'd be interested (like to get my Fox shocks and sway arm first), and 100 of us putting up $100 apiece certainly sounds reasonable. I would just need some lead time as it would be a day's ride up and a day's ride back.

    i wanna ride with shorts

Unless someone rides with a full face helmet, boots, gloves, and armored textile or leather pants and jacket 100% of the time, aren't we being a little quick to judge? The fact is in southern LA, if I tried to ride fully protected in the summer I'd probably ride into a tree because of the sweat...

Police Dept. in the morning, ride home in a Sheriff's Dept. car at night...what a day

I have also read of this happening, seems really odd, has an overflow so wouldn't think pressure would be an issue. Maybe it just heats too fast? Hope things turn out OK.

    Drive belt bargain

"Anyway I got one. Since mine has a hole in it. Has had the hole since Dec. Don't recon it is hurt too bad since it made it from Louisiana to CA." Dar, I'd just keep an eye on it, I had a HD Road King that had a hole in the belt after 3K miles, the hole was exactly the same (and the belt was...

Interesting buy for a Spyder project

Air cooled? "If I had the space and the tools I once had, I'd like to try to fit a Spyder with a BMW boxer engine" Boxer engines are pretty sweet, but how would an air cooled engine do under all that plastic? I think this may be tricky.

What windshield do you recommend on the RS for freeway driving?

Seat height "As you have found, there are a lot of variables. Your height, your torso length, the vehicle speed, the windshield shape, the windshield angle, and the windshield size all come into play." And one more to add, seat height in relation to the windshield. On my other bikes, with a...
