• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Have you had an ECU Flash? How long did it take? Any good?

I am not aware that the MFI flash will do anything for the shifting up or down other than raise the rev limiter to a higher number. Mine hasn't been flashed but 22 F3S, up and down shifting is manual (electronic on the left handlebar) except that it will shift down if you are coasting to a stop...

    Electric Spyder next?

The planet has some built in safeguards like the Polar current that flows up the West side of Africa across to Greenland and down the East side of North America that stores and freezes C02 and methane in the form of hydrates just off the continental shelf. Natural occurring volcanoes can put far...

Discussing Throttle-by-wire, throttle response, and Pedal Commander 'improvements'

A couple of years ago, the trail skidoo riders (Renegade, MXZ models) didn't like doo's electronic throttle because it was tooooo twitchy for a lot of them. Sooo in 2022, Doo changed the throttle from electronic to a cable that goes to a module (variable resistor?) that sends the signal to the...

    Electric Spyder next?

We have a company in Alberta that has a pilot project that was successful in extracting lithium from the formation water of a produced/producing oil reservoir. They are trying to go commercial but that is still years away. Some day down the road and beyond we will move to new/old sources of...

    Electric Spyder next?

Don't tell anyone, but nuclear waste can go back in the mine that it was originally mined from. Huh! I worked as a summer student for Eldorado Mining in 1967 in Uranium City, Sask. The mine is in the granite formation of the Canadian Shield and the mine had a vertical elevator and many side...

Have you had an ECU Flash? How long did it take? Any good?

Good to hear that you are satisfied with Stage 2, I will leave a note to Santa under the tree and see if gets me a Stage 2 tune before Spring.

    Rides like a snowmobile

While you're at it; did you check the bushings etc. on the A arms and the rear assembly to see if they are tight or worn and sloppy? I don't have a name for reference, but the Skidoo guys refer to several shock rebuilders in your neck of the woods that can re-valve to suit your weight and...

    Electric Spyder next?

Like I said in a previous post enjoy what you bought but calling anyone who disagrees with your superior choice an "EV hater" is a bit much in my opinion.

Is a Spyder a motorcycle, trike or something else?

I owned a 350 Yamaha XT back in the early 80's but rode it offroad because I didn't like the highway feel on 2 lane roads by cars and trucks. I did a test ride of the Canam trike when they first came out and finally decided to buy my F3S because it was looking lonely in the show room this...

    Electric Spyder next?

For those that have purchased and enjoy their EV's great, and don't forget that most were bought with taxpayer subsidies that came from borrowed money. As far as being better for "climate change" only in the minds of those that are pushing this narrative. It seems they don't tell you where the...

Rotten ride yesterday - I hate wintertime!

My full face helmet has a drop down visor and I have a light smoke windshield which can help if I drop my head down a bit but sunset can still be challenging.

HowTo: Replacing the front (cadre) 705009339 on a 22 F3S

This is the front trim piece that fits over and holds the grill in place. Even though my machine is Mango Green this piece of plastic is black and costs about $80 Cdn. I touched a curb pulling into a restaurant in Sandpoint, heard a crunch and discovered I needed some duct tape to hold my...

What Kind of Rider are you?

I was working on my exhaust baffles last week so after I installed them I took the trike out on the driveway in about 4" of fresh snow and tried to burn a few U'es just for the fun of it; the nanny tried to take control and applied the brakes skidding me sideways and almost into the ditch...

    Electric Spyder next?

Snow Trax has the interview on their site with the Skidoo Engineer and Marketing guy and these sleds were specifically built for and at the request of Ski hills where all the green people go. Developement of new technology is good, just don't try and force it on us before it is economically...

HowTo: Making my own baffles for 22 F3S Cat delete

I installed the Cat delete pipe without the plug (db killer) that came with it and the stock muffler and found the exhaust sound very loud and rappy, especially if you wicked the throttle or went to WOT. Before installing the plug to compare sound levels I measured it without the center plug and...

How about heated gear - what's your favorite? Any other suggestions?

'22 F3S and there is only one choice for hand warmers in the accessory catalogue. The settings are on or off.

Ryker 900 will not start - any recommendations?

Once the engine is running again it may be a good idea to put some gasoline conditioner in the tank to help clean up any left overs from the fuel separation in the tank and injectors.

How about heated gear - what's your favorite? Any other suggestions?

I rode today. beautiful sunny day about 50/55F, the can am heated grips are probably marginal below 50F unless you wear thicker gloves, The thicker the gloves the less feel you have on the handle bars and you tend to squeeze the bar tighter resulting in tired hands. I have never ridden my sled...

Heated grips — do they work if the Spyder is idling?

I had the dealer install the BRP heated grips for the Spyder F3S and at -8C/20 F, with just one heat setting they are minimal at best built for the southern USA weather. Next step will be to adapt some sled type wind deflectors to fit the larger handle bars on the Spyder. On the sleds you get...

Cat delete, is it worth the money

I drove to the dealer and back this morning about 60km/40 miles to have my handle bar warmers installed and the temp. was -8C/18 F. The cat bypass without any baffles was loud especially when downshifting, WOT or blipping the throttle like the guys working on the bike got a kick out of. At...
