• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Life's Little Pleasures...

You may have a point. As we were driving one day, my wife pointed out the window and exclaimed, 'I just love those little red cars!'. I said, 'Laurene! That's a 58 Corvette! But to her, they are just cute little red cars. I shouldn't let it bother me.

    Are the Front shocks adjustable?

I think you're on the right track. I beleive that BRP saw all the revenue that the aftermarket was getting for shocks and they wanted to cash in on it. They were offering shock upgrades for a while. I'm not sure what happened with that. But they were offering mediocure shocks for about the same...

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

I don't know if Lamont even wants to revisit that event. But I am going to ask him if he got any bites from being covered with ants that night.

    Are the Front shocks adjustable?

If you have Fox Shocks they will have spring preload adjustment. That alone is a fairly big deal. It's criminal that BRP does not provide this on all their machines. The 1st 5 years of production, they did.

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

Lamont has been an amazing and loyal friend for lo, these 40+ years. He has impacted my life more than almost anyone else in this world. I ride a Spyder because of him, I live in Tennessee because of him, and it goes without saying that I'm posting here today because of him. He is irreplaceable...

Any advice on adjusting toe on the front wheels? Is the job doable without BUDS?

I should have left the Ryker off this list. It is drive shaft! DUH! Originally, BRP aligned the front wheels from points on the frame. That does not work at all. Anyone can do this. Run the Spyder on flat ground, straight ahead for several yards. You should then have 1-2 credit cards space...

Any advice on adjusting toe on the front wheels? Is the job doable without BUDS?

The rear wheel of a Spyder/Canyon is aligned using belt location on the pulley. Not a frame or other relational measurement. What you are looking for with the rear wheel is trajectory or direction. Then you use the front wheel lasers to align them in the same direction with the appropriate toe in.

Any advice on adjusting toe on the front wheels? Is the job doable without BUDS?

I don't see how, though there have been those who say they can. Lamont and I spent several days trying a good number of ways to do this and were woefully unsuccessful. The front of a Spyder, coupled with alignment of the rear wheel, reqires very exacting tolerances to be right. You might get...

2012 RT occasionally Stalling, no codes, just stalls! Any ideas? And what do you get for Gas Milage?

The throttle body electric motor holds the throttle butterfiles sligtly open for a period of time to vent the intake system. It makes a subtle whining noise. That's not a problem. The temperature gauge on the early Spyders tended to read high at operating temperature. What you want to look for...

Are people throwing better shocks at their trike first, instead of better tires?

The more miles you put on before upgrading the sway bar, the happier you'll be with the improvement.

2012 RT occasionally Stalling, no codes, just stalls! Any ideas? And what do you get for Gas Milage?

Rubber components on the throttle body deteriorate and can allow air to enter. There are 2, small, short, vacuum hoses on the left side of the throttle body that need to be replaced. At this age, the rubber boots that attach the throttle body to the intake ports also go bad. You don't say how...

Question for all, and BRP - why is there not a dip stick mark for the correct oil level in a cold Spyder engine?

No argument here. If it works for you, then that's great! I'd love to know what an oli analysis might show.

Are people throwing better shocks at their trike first, instead of better tires?

Suspension improvements increase traction (among other things). But increased traction benefits only to the point where the tires can translate the improvements to the road surface. Suspension upgrades will give you the greatest amount of improvement. But the right tires will definitely be...

I want Spyder/Ryker/Canyon dealerships to succeed

I hesitate to write this, because I am not here to bash anyone. I sincerely want our BRP products to succeed. But for this to happen, dealerships need to succeed. Some are, and I applaud them for dispensing good, honest service to their customers (you and I). I don't know how many dealerships...

Question for all, and BRP - why is there not a dip stick mark for the correct oil level in a cold Spyder engine?

Your lawnmower manufacturer is trying to sell you another one! Not many machines need oil changes more frequently than a push lawnmower.

Is the Alternator shaft squeal just a nuisance, or is it damaging anything?

It is frustrating that the Amsoil solution works most of the time (as far as I can tell), but not always. One user said it helped with the 1st oil change, and completely resolved the issue with the 2nd oil change. That doesn't make sense to me really. But a fix is a fix. Even if you're not sure why.

Spyder decisions - any suggestions on what to buy as my first Spyder?

In no way does the Ryker borrow anything from the original V-Twin Spyders. Though that is a great engine in its own right. The Ryker 900 is a downsized 1330 3 cylinder engine. The 600 just drops a cylinder making it a twin. The Ryker is a great ride. Quick, agile, and gobbs of fun. But it is...

    What I Saw Today

I had a friend here in Tennessee, now passed away, who built VW trikes. I'm sure Lamont has pictures.
