• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Quatrac SL 165/60R15 fronts rubbing on fenders - anyone else? Fixes?

Finally got the bolts (5mm longer than stock) and washers and fixed it. Seems to work perfectly with two per bolt. In my case it wasn’t hard to loosen the stock bolts at all — getting two washers slipped into place on a couple of them was worthy of a few choice words though.

Quatrac SL 165/60R15 fronts rubbing on fenders - anyone else? Fixes?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the detailed explanation. I had "lift fender" in my head and didn't think about sideways at all, but now that I've read it, it makes perfect sense. Yes, I hear it only occasionally, and only on hard cornering. The rub mark on the tire is about 1" down the...

Quatrac SL 165/60R15 fronts rubbing on fenders - anyone else? Fixes?

What I don't understand is how the fender can be lifted at all. This is the image from the shop manual. At the base of the fender strut, the bolts are horizontal, not vertical. So no washer is going to raise anything. The struts connect to a sort of metal band that screws into the fender. So...

Quatrac SL 165/60R15 fronts rubbing on fenders - anyone else? Fixes?

Well, I tried to shim the fender. I guess I'm not seeing the correct way to do it. Do you add washers where the fender strut screws into the bottom of the fender itself? (They're pretty short little screws.) Or somehow where the strut connects to the bike? I've seen mentions of shimming up to...

Anyone installed the Afterburner tail-light mod?

I installed the afterburner lights and they're excellent. As a bonus, while I was installing them I discovered my antenna had never been screwed in correctly so I fixed that too.

Quatrac SL 165/60R15 fronts rubbing on fenders - anyone else? Fixes?

Just found this thread when searching for the same issue. I put Vredestein Quatrac 165/60R15s on the front a few weeks ago, and when going through a roundabout with a bit o' spirit, I heard it rubbing on the right side. Stopped as soon as I exited. So just thought I'd mention it as another...

What could this weird fender vibration when braking be?

Not unless they did it as part of the tire swap. I didn't request it specifically.

What could this weird fender vibration when braking be?

Thanks everyone for the replies. So I think it's all sorted now. As I mentioned, there was one nut loose on both front wheels. It seemed like after tightening them, when I rode it last night that the sound was way less. So this morning I jacked it up, loosened all lug nuts, made sure the...

What could this weird fender vibration when braking be?

I'll do that before I take it out. Good idea.

What could this weird fender vibration when braking be?

Interesting. I didn't consider the torque, but I set my wrench to 80 ft lbs (manual says 77-83) and got about 3/8" turn out of one nut on each wheel. The other two were already at or above that. We'll see if anything changes when I take it out tonight.

What could this weird fender vibration when braking be?

The light definitely wiggles back and forth, and I can maybe convince myself that is the cause. Though the light on the other fender wiggles the same way and there's no noise there. The fender itself seems solid. I can't move it at all by hand.

What could this weird fender vibration when braking be?

I recently had new tires put on my 2022 RT Ltd, Vredestein Quatrack 165/60R-15 on the front, 215/60R15 rear. I've ridden it for a couple hundred miles with no issues, but today was a very quiet day, (no wind noise to speak of, and I had the radio off) and when I brake, I noticed I can hear a...

Can't remember how to replace the brake reservoir pin - Help?! '22 RT

It just slides in flat against the back, about 3/4". If you hold the little thumb handle perpendicular to the reservoir, so the short bit of the "J" portion of the pin is facing up, it should slide right in. It feels like it can't be right, since it doesn't go very far, but it is correct...

2 wheeler sayings don't apply to Rykers - we need 3 wheeler sayings!

It's funny, after about 18 years of two wheel riding, I switched to the spyder, and that's the first time I ever heard the idea that the the arm down/two finger wave to a passing biker meant "2 wheels". I always thought it was basically just a peace-sign/acknowlegement of a shared love of the...

Recommendation for a pocket knife sheath?

Ha, well I finally found my answer. Benchmade actually makes a "deep carry clip" that sinks the knife lower in your pocket, which eliminates the issue with it sticking out and into your hip. Who knew? :dontknow: They don't exactly make it easy to find on their website!

Recommendation for a pocket knife sheath?

I've carried a pocket knife of one kind or another ever since I was a kid. It's a tool that I seem to frequently have a need for -- it's not some soldier of fortune fantasy, and I don't expect to be in any knife fights. But I feel naked without it available. Problem is, the pocket clip for...

    Happy CANADIAN Thanksgiving

I have to say, I LOVED riding in Canada for a few days this fall. I know every country (state, city, neighborhood :sour:) has bad drivers, but I was amazed at how polite and disciplined 99% of drivers were. They'd wait to pass in passing lanes, get over and right back in, etc. I was pretty...

    UPDATE - Treat Williams ( ACTOR ) ... Accused's Plea Deal!!

Totally agree. The best advice I ever got when I first started on 2 wheels was, "watch the hubcaps" because you'll see them move the instant the driver does anything and they're more obvious than the bulk of the vehicle. Saved me so many times. Half the time I don't even remember what the...
