• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder origins?? Or The Ultimate?? Just Go For It!

No, the 250 MX is long gone. So is the BSA and every other bike I ever owned. I've just got the EX 300 KTM, my M109R, a 2015 F3-S, a 2019 Ryker Rally, and my original 2008 GS. I'd say that's more than enough.

Spyder origins?? Or The Ultimate?? Just Go For It!

You had a 'Breako Maico'? I rode with a guy that had one. Awesome looking bike! I rode an MX 250 Can-Am, a 441 BSA (in the dirt!) and a Husky 390. Those were the days! I've got an EX 300 KTM now.

Spyder origins?? Or The Ultimate?? Just Go For It!

2 Strokes RULE! It's chain drive, not belt. It could use a mid carrier sprocket. That is a long chain flopping around. I'm surprised it hasn't thrown it.

Anyone have ceramic brake pads? Any experience with Traild ceramic pads?

Actually, just the opposite. Though it's still true (you can't fight physics) that the fronts provide about 70% of potential stopping power. With the Spyder, the rear brake comes on first and releases last. This is to help stabilize the bike when stopping. The result is that the rear pads tend...

Any reason NOT to buy a 2012 RT Limited?

There was a factory recall on early DPS units. I think it depended on when in 2012 and which DPS it had. I don't know if that recall is still effective. But it would certainly be worth a try.

Anyone have ceramic brake pads? Any experience with Traild ceramic pads?

As a side note, it has always puzzled me that F3's seem to have more brake issues than the RT. Since the RT is a heavier machine to begin with, and in addition, more heavily loaded, as a rule. You'd think that would be where warped rotors and burnt up brake pads would be found. But in my...

Anyone have ceramic brake pads? Any experience with Traild ceramic pads?

15k is not a typical lifespan, especially for the fronts. I'm wondering if there might be an issue with the offending caliper. Check to see if one side is wearing more quickly than the other. Those riders who use engine braking typically see longer brake pad life (and better rotor health) than...

Anyone have ceramic brake pads? Any experience with Traild ceramic pads?

Ceramic is not a good friction material for a motorcycle. That's why they are so hard to find. Reputable brake manufacturer's know this and simply provide materials that work well for the application. It's mostly unknown (My guess is Chinese) sources that provide the ceramic pads that you can...

Do I need to pull the whole box to properly fit this Airbox tube?

A liberal dose of Windex (or similar) on the mating surfaces will help the rubber slip past the plastic. Reapply as needed.

What could cause this Squeal on starting out in first gear?

We have been able to cure or reduce this chirping with Amsoil 10/40 MCF. Just did one today. But it has not worked every time so we can't say it's a for sure cure.

Do People Get Thrown Off of Spyders?

The Ryker doesn't have any power steering assist. As you say, the Spyder assist tapers off as speed increases. Some years have more help than others. At about 45 mph the assist goes to zero. As speed increases, steering input needed to get the same output decreases. You won't get worn out...

Whose Ryker Air Filters Are You Using? OEM or which A/mkt equivalents?

It is a good idea to keep an eye on the CVT Filter. Most don't. And with most air filters, it wouldn't be a big deal. But we've seen that CVT filter completely clogged at less than 5,000 miles. Of course, you need to take environment into consideration. But that being said. We've had a few...

Whose Ryker Air Filters Are You Using? OEM or which A/mkt equivalents?

Anything is possible. Just because we haven't experienced it at that shop doesn't mean I'm going to assume you are wrong. Just thought it worthwhile to ask. Sitting on the bike, as you say, which is always the right way to look at anything automotive unless specifically indicated otherwise...

This is the exact opposite of every inspection we've done so far. Are you sure you got the sides correct?

Whose Ryker Air Filters Are You Using? OEM or which A/mkt equivalents?

Sorry, meant to answer this some time ago. Distractions! Always the distractions! All of the JT-1 Air Cleaner Kits take the same air filter element. ONAN Part # 140-2628-01

Well, that is actually your best case scenario under the circumstances.

What just happened? Two weeks old: Engine shut down, VSS Error.

Grasping at straws here. I suspect a serious underlying issue. But was that battery fully charged? Was it a BS battery (acid added at time of sale) rather than factory activated and sitting on a shelf using up lifespan.
