• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Battery Tenders on sale

Great deal. Guess I need to get another bike then to put to use. :-)

    Parasitic battery drain?

I have the same issue on our 2012. I have never found the cause - so on the Battery Tender it goes. I can go about a week off the Tender before the cranking gets weak. I believe someone mentioned that some Spyders of this era had drain from of the radio units but do not recall specifics. Being...

Storage for Two Up on the RT Long Ride

    Touring pants

I have a pair of TourMaster Overpants and a pair of BMW GoreTex pants. Both are waterproof and, in addition to protecting knees etc in an accident, provide rain protection. Each has zippered ventilation for hot days. I usually wear gym shorts underneath or a nylon cargo short underneath. If...

Storage for Two Up on the RT Long Ride

I do the approach of 2-3 days of shirts, socks underwear. Quick dry variety so I can wash in the sink every day or two. I wear riding pants so only need one pair of jeans or hiking pants for evenings. Hiking pants with zip off legs double as shorts. I wear riding boots on the ride but bring a...

    Spyder AD on MSN Homepage

Looks like the ad engine/algorithm has some issues matching pics to content. This ad popped up on my MSN homepage today. Earlier the pic was a Big Wheel....LOL. I clicked away too quickly to capture that one.

    Here's the new 2020 RT

I do like the 'praying mantis' look of the front end of the original.

    Here's the new 2020 RT

Not necessarily. The front and sidebags could be smaller.

    Here's the new 2020 RT

How does that compare to the previous RT? We have a 2012. Trying to determine if there is a net gain or loss on storage capacity.

Thinking about spare fuel container location

I use the MSR bottle on occasion. I have the 998 and range is not great. Generally not a concern out east until you get a bit north and in unfamiliar araas. Never had to actually use it...but a bit of insurance/piece of mind.

    Rain Gear?

I may have stated earlier that I really, really dislike having to put-on an take-off raingear throughout the day. As such, I have Gore-Tex riding pants and jacket. If you ride in the east, you are going to get off and on rain in the summer over the course of a couple days. This past weekend I...

    Catastrophic failure

So, are newer Kendas even worse than pre-2014 or have issues been corrected? Will need to replace my tire later this month. Regarding the OP, would be curious to know the tire pressure too. Pretty bad failure.

    Surprised on recent ride

WV is beautiful country and some great roads in which to ride. Regarding the proliferation of Spyders, same here. That is why I personally no longer post sightings. See so many on a summer weekend it is not necessarily 'unique'.

    I guess I'm a motorcycle guy

The Spyder is my wife's but I ride it too. I prefer two wheels as well, but there a times where three wheels are a better fit for the job and then I use it. As others said above, ride what you like. The Connie is a very good machine too with a passionate community of owners that adds to the...

    Gerbing heated jacket

we have a Powerlet in the 'tank area' near the parking brake, driving light row. Alternatively, have the pigtail for the Battery Tender under the seat. We pull that out for the jacket should the Powerlet outlet be occupied by the GPS.
