• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is there a 'Full Tank' Triangle? If so, where? '22 RT

I have found one local gas station where one specific pump allows me to add gas at a very slow and controlled rate. Most gas pumps seem to be pretty much full on or shut off, but this one pump that I use allows me to get about a gallon short of full under the normal locked input. Then I gently...

    Riding in the Heat

I've been on long trips where the weather was predicted to be reasonable or cool enough to keep a jacket liner in my saddlebag in case the mesh jacket just wasn't enough, and then found the weather turned and it was roasting hot. Stopping every half hour or so and soaking my t-shirt in cold...

    Riding Gear Poll

As a former MSF Instructor, I should say ATGATT; but then again, I should be honest. I was much more diligent about protective gear when riding a 2 wheeler. On my Spyder, I always wear a helmet and gloves, and if the temps are below 80°, I wear an armored jacket. If I am going on more than just...

Losing a bit of faith in Can Am - enjoy the riding, but not the endless waiting while they find parts and fix all the niggling issues!

I do the same. I put the cruise control switch in the "on" position the day I bought the bike and never have turned it off. I have no clue as to why it stopped, or started working again. With my arthritic hands, being able to take my hand off the throttle is a real help. I would not buy a bike...

Losing a bit of faith in Can Am - enjoy the riding, but not the endless waiting while they find parts and fix all the niggling issues!

I almost feel guilty about my original post. I went for a ride yesterday and the cruise control was working perfectly normally. I wonder if I had gotten some water into the switch when washing the bike several days ago, and by yesterday maybe it had dried out and the feature was back in...

Why is the engine braking so Weak?! Should I not use Eco mode?

When I first got my RT I used Eco Mode all the time, upshifting when the symbol appeared on the screen. The RT felt a bit sluggish but I was okay with that. Then I stopped using it and was much happier, and I found that my MPG was no different. "Eco" was not saving me any gas, at least as far...

My Back between the shoulders hurts after 6 hours of riding - anyone else? Would handlebar risers help? Is this normal?

Helibars might be the best solution, but this is a relatively expensive fix. I am 5'7" and might have shorter than normal arms for my height, and I found that a simple riser kit costing less than $100, which moved the bars up about 2 inches, and back about 1.5 inches, was the perfect solution...

Losing a bit of faith in Can Am - enjoy the riding, but not the endless waiting while they find parts and fix all the niggling issues!

Last fall one of the speed sensors failed on my 2021 RT, and I ended up missing the entire Fall riding season while the dealer tried to get the replacement sensor. Then recently, I had the problem of not being able to unlock &/or open one of the side cases, and the plastic latch snapped off when...

Do People Get Thrown Off of Spyders?

You just need to change your expectations from that of riding a two wheeler. I first took a demo ride years ago, and I really didn't even think about the fact that the Spyder has 3 wheels. I was still thinking in "2 wheel terms" and I subjectively felt that the bike was trying to throw me off. I...

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

"Some of us still have a proper clutch and shifter. ;)" I was not aware that some Spyders had traditional transmissions. When did the change begin to the current semi-automatic trans?

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

I think that some here are making things more complicated than they need to be. Elaborate explanations of how to take a turn on a Spyder will likely just scare off someone considering getting one of these trikes. If you can drive a car, you can immediately ride a Spyder. You steer around the...

Interesting item in Loaner Waiver at the dealership

I'm not sure why so many folks hate the Kenda tires. I replaced the stock rear tire at 15,000 miles, and I still have the OEM front tires, now at 18,000 miles and they look good as new. I've never had any issues with the tires at all. Most likely when I go to replace the fronts I will just get...

Interesting item in Loaner Waiver at the dealership

I'm in Illinois which considers the Spyder a 3 wheel motorcycle, and requires a motorcycle endorsement to ride one (motorcycle endorsements in IL can be for all motorcycles, for just 3 wheel motorcycles, or limited to motorcycles/scooters with under 150cc engine displacement. Maybe the wording...

Interesting item in Loaner Waiver at the dealership

I brought my Spyder into the dealership this morning to get some work done (the latch on one of the side cases on my RT broke when I tried to open the case, and the case will not open at all) and the dealer provided me with a loaner while my trike is being worked on. I had to sign a waiver for...

Frustrations - side case won't open; now the latch/lever is broken! I hope it won't take too long for dealer to fix!!

Back when I first got my Spyder RT I could not get the left side case to open. Flipping the lever did nothing. Lying on the ground and looking at the underside of the mechanism I saw the wire and the small round adjusting piece on the wire. I simply tightened it up and voila, the case opened...

2025 Demo rides are on their way!!

I currently ride a 2021 RT, and will be demo riding a Sea to SKy in July. Maybe its a mistake since I might be tempted to trade in my perfectly nice RT for a new ride. Or maybe I will decide that my 2021 is just fine. FWIW, I talked with an owner of a new Canyon model. Interesting looking ride...

Interesting conversation at the gas pump - asked why I chose to ride a Spyder rather than 'a real motorcycle'?!

My wife enjoyed riding with me on my Goldwing. But a few times when we stopped on less than pristine pavement she became nervous that we would tip over. And when the road changed to gravel or dirt she became terrified. The very first time she rode as a passenger on my Spyder she said she loved...

Interesting conversation at the gas pump - asked why I chose to ride a Spyder rather than 'a real motorcycle'?!

Even after trading in my Goldwing for the RT, I wanted to stay in the 2 wheel community so I bought a little Royal Enfield Hunter 350. The RE is a simple but nicely built little bike, but I found I rarely rode it. Part of the problem was that I was more frustrated than I had thought I would be...

Interesting conversation at the gas pump - asked why I chose to ride a Spyder rather than 'a real motorcycle'?!

Yesterday I had a beautiful two hour ride, mostly along the Rock River in Illinois, and ended with a stop near my home to refill the gas tank. A middle aged guy approached me, curious about the Spyder. He said it looked really interesting, but wondered why I chose this ride rather than, in his...

Should I be concerned that my Spyder has no need for pressing the Mode Button before starting?

I view the need to hit the Mode button on my RT as a good security device. The typical bike thief likely will not know about this, and even if I inadvertently left the key in the ignition, a "crime of opportunity" bike thief likely would not be able to start the bike, and at 1,000 pounds its not...
