• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Had to wear Gloves for Can Am riding course - Do you wear gloves? Why? Or why not?

Yup. I use those Mechanix gloves that're light. When it's colder, I use padded gauntlet-style gloves. Besides providing an extra layer of protection, I mainly use them to avoid being sunburned Been riding with gloves for as long as I can remember. I feel naked without them. IMHO, you'd be a...

So many complaints about the Spyders. Anyone with no problems?

I refuse to answer this question for fear of jinxing myself .... ;) ;)

White knuckle test ride - can I learn to like this? Buy newish or older/cheaper?

You should've ridden my '18 RTL with the Baja Ron swaybar. Rock steady and a lot more pleasant to ride. You would've easily changed your mind. I'd have your wife ride and you stay in the back to enjoy the scenery. Get a used '20 RTL and newer. Let her have her moment in the sun, LOL.

Another Oil Thread (sorry!) - Has anyone tried using Mobil 1 10W40?

I run full-synthetic MOBIL 1 made for motorcycles on my Harley. For my Spyder, I run the semi-synthetic Castrol Actevo made for motorcycles. I believe that oils SPECIFICALLY made for motorcycles are slightly better than oils made for cars, but YMMV. As long as you don't use Crisco, you're...

DID Make My Mind up! - Big D's Mighty Red Baron has Arrived!

Unless you're the type who finds extreme joy in really leaning in the turns and CANNOT live on a machine that cannot do it, you'll be very unhappy with a Spyder. Other than that, they are fun and a blast to ride, and WAY safer. Good luck !! It WILL definitely extend your riding career...

Almost had the big one yesterday - pallet fell of a truck into our path!

This happened to me a few years ago. Lucky for me, I was driving my full-size Silverado instead of riding my Spyder or bike: I'm haulen ass up Pyramid Highway with my pickup doing about 70, and a small couch from a truck ahead of me decides this is about the right time and place to fall off. I...

    27) Lowering belt tension to reduce vibration at highway speeds (over 65 mph) Difficulty Level - 2.0 Tips - Buy an accurate belt tension gauge like a Krikit. Watch various YouTube vids, because there are A LOT of good ones out there. When tightening the axle nut, make sure the whole axle...

Dipping my big toe in to check the water

IMHO, riding a Spyder is WAY easier than riding a 2-wheeled bike. The amount of timing and coordination to upshift or downshift and all the while maintaining balance isn't EVEN comparable. If you have ever ridden a quad or a waverunner, it's very similar (although the waverunner requires more...

The HMC filter is getting hard to find!?! On back-order & still waiting.. Thanks BRP!

Thanks for the heads-up, Lew. Went on www.lamonstergarage.com and quickly ordered one. Hopefully, one will be available by the time I need it (which will be another 15,000 miles or so). Dang. I need to ride more often, lol.

Looking for Cat delete baffle recommendations - what do you use? Where from?

Wow, good catch !! Think I need new glasses, LOL.

I made a Pedal Commander Waterproof case!

No friggen way I'd use a high-pressure washer. Too many electrical connectors that can get easily compromised, IMHO.

Looking for Cat delete baffle recommendations - what do you use? Where from?

IMHO, you make THE best looking/deepest sounding cat delete in the market. I wrote a blurb about them in this thread - https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?129103-Peacekeeper6-Mod-Thread but it somehow disappeared. How odd ....

Do we owe Kenda an apology?

My cars either wear Michelins/Continentals/Pirellis. Can't wait to replace my OEM Kendas with any offerings from these brands ........ if they make them.

Completed my semi annual "lie on my back and add air to the rear tire" routine

Frankly, I don't get the "lying on your back while checking/adding air to the rear tire" thing. If you have the right gauge/inflator, and it the rear tire is positioned correctly, the worse you can do is kneel. Add a folded towel for padding and boom, there you have it. The new RTs must have...

    Peacekeeper6 Mod Thread

I've heard that BRP upgraded their swaybar after 2020, and that installing the Baja Ron swaybar offers a negligible difference. I've also heard of some who DID install it on their post-2020 Spyders and it improved their handling. In either case, I just can't wait for the weather to warm up...

Do you use motorcycle parking spaces?

If I'm riding my Spyder, I usually avoid parking in MC designated places, because 1) I don't consider my Spyder a motorcycle, in the traditional sense of the word, and 2) When I ride my Harley 2-wheeler and attempt to pull into a MC designated spot only to be blocked by a big-ass Spyder, I get...

Is a Spyder a motorcycle, trike or something else?

I'm lucky that the bikers I've had the pleasure of "wasting fuel" with have this mantra: "It doesn't matter WHAT you ride, as long as YOU ride". That said, I've ridden with people who have all sorts of bikes/trikes manufactured all over the world. And that, my friends, is how it should be ....
