• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What's your helmet of choice? Show us??

I wear a AGV 3/4 "aviation helmet" style in camo when I'm by myself. My g/f and I wear matching HJC modular helmets outfitted with the Cardo Freecom 4+ intercom system.

What is a good way of Talking To my Passenger - helmets or add-ons?

I absolutely LOVE my Cardo. We have the Freecom 4+, and after watching countless YouTube vids on various intercom systems, I feel this was the best at the time of purchase about 2 years ago. Check out my review of it...

40K miles so far - how many miles will a 1330 engine RT last?

Engine/drivetrain-wise, it should last well over 100k miles if you keep up with the maintenance. It's the other stuff you need to worry about ....

Any idea what this bracket is?

When I was installing my Utopia backrest for my '18 RTL, I had to install a bracket that was very similar to that.

I have a problem with Dishonest Dealers!

When my boat was scheduled for a 50 hr inspection, I took it to a dealership. I made it a point to put a black dot with a felt pen on both the fuel and oil filters. They had my boat for a couple of days. When they said it was ready to be picked up, I decided to check to see if they indeed...

What's with all these BS fees?!

I love it when they check my credit rating and see that I have a stellar number, because the dealership knows that I am a serious buyer. When we go over the sales contract, I make sure to do a line-by-line item check to see if they'll charge me such BS fees. I adamantly say, "Nope, not gonna...

    Cost of Oil Change

Heh, I didn't even realize I was responding to such an old post. I still stand by my suggestion though. Having a bunch of DIYers in your riding group can be beneficial ........ and fun.

    Cost of Oil Change

I usually go up on Fridays. I'm waiting for the whole mountain to open and for the crowds to decrease a bit. However, I'll let you know when I'm ready to carve some turns with you. (Must be nice to be retired ....)

    Cost of Oil Change

Here's what we do in our neck of the woods: Periodically, a few of us in our Spyder group (Battle Born Spyders on Facebook) get together for what we call "Tech Session". We meet in the morning in someone's house, work on each other's bikes while B.S.ing about anything and everything, and go...

    What are these things?

Check out a JATO on this C-130. Someone should offer a JATO system on a Spyder, LOL.

Sprocket Final Fix Update from Shawn Smoak

You DO know that he DOESN'T have to make those informative DIY videos, right ?? He could just say, "F*ck it. I'm just gonna let those Spyder owners bring their Spyders to ME for easy maintenance and repair, and they'll be out a few bucks. Easy money for ME" Just skip the fluff and watch the...

Exploring Options To Become Certified to work on Spyders

If you can make this happen, more power to you. I've found that many Spyder owners are more of the "senior" type, and cannot turn a wrench due to their physical limitations. If you are located in an area with many Spyder owners, I believe you can make a few extra dollars servicing their bikes...

Battery Tenders - should you use them or not?

Yes, without a doubt. Your Spyder draws current just sitting there. For a mere $30, you can buy a Battery Tender and hook it up during the winter to prevent a dead battery in the spring. I've used mine for my Yamaha Waverunner, Harley and Spyder RTL with excellent results.

Anyone using Rotella T-6 5w40 full synthetic - ‘22 RTL

I don't think it'll affect your warranty. That product is highly-rated and is used by many here with good results. I'm currently running Castrol Actevo. I'm usually a Mobil1 guy and run that oil in my 3-Series and Sienna. However, for the next oil change, I think I'm gonna give the Rotella a...

Do I really need a GPS?

Although, you REALLY don't want to get lost in places like East Oakland. Been there, done that, and lived to type here about it, LOL.

Do I really need a GPS?

No, you don't really NEED a GPS. Part of the adventure and fun is getting lost, imho. I like to ride to the general direction of where my destination is, usually taking the back roads instead of the route a GPS would recommend, which is usually boring. I've found that it's a lot more...

DREAD! Another Tire Thread! Only because it's good information.

I really wish Michelin made their Cross Climates in our size. If they did, I'd have them on all 3 corners once my OEM tires are worn .... Besides Tire Rack, I also like to watch video clips from Tyre Reviews on YouTube. They do some intensive reviews on popular tires as well.
