• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First Service & Dealer says Stripped out drain plug! New dealer time!

I doubt the steel plug would be stripped - more likely the aluminium housing it screws into.

    Spyder RS-S 2011 SE5 - Low Voltage battery - any ideas/suggestions?

That's most unfortunate. Have you checked and cleaned earth cables and wires as previously suggested? And redo the test procedures.

What wires go where in the BUDS Connector?

Your illustration is correct when viewed from rear / wire entry side of plug.

What wires go where in the BUDS Connector?

Is that what's wanted? (dunno why it's done 2 of each, but what the heck.)

    Spyder RS-S 2011 SE5 - Low Voltage battery - any ideas/suggestions?

The specs in reply 5 say 60volts at 4000rpm. 12.4v at 4000 rpm shows no charge going to battery. Burnt stators on these trikes are very uncommon but your symptoms indicate it is at fault. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/403995584464 Hey Doug - what page of service manual are those pix on? I...

Spyder Dies Momentarily - anyone else had this issue?

I checked the relays in the fuse box and they were secure. Mine has the 'updated' lid with the rubber lining on the under side of the lid to prevent the relays vibrating loose like they did on the earlier ones. The 4 relays are the same so I swapped them around to see if that makes any...

Spyder Dies Momentarily - anyone else had this issue?

Thanks for the reminder about the relays, Doug. I think I even have a couple of spares I bought a dozen years ago for a rainy day. And those battery bolts are good and tight. I made sure they were when I fitted the battery a month ago. It's a real pain to get to, as you know. I'll have my...

Spyder Dies Momentarily - anyone else had this issue?

My old GS SM5 has shut down momentarily on 3 occasions over the last few months. Twice it's done it while slowing to make a turn off the throttle; yesterday it did it while cruising at 80kph with immediate power loss then within a second or two, the dash lights and dials do the start routine...

Why you should flush your brake fluid properly

Well done Jet - go to the top of the class. :2thumbs:

    Your First One....

I still have mine - a 1970 Yummy AS3-125, the fore runner to the RD series which had the reed valves. This is a pic from a decade ago when I fitted new rims & spokes. It's since been tidied up a lot more.

Why you should flush your brake fluid properly

Where's the proof? Guesswork doesn't cut the mustard. The cap is vented but the fluid is sealed from the atmosphere by the rubber diaphragm under the cap.

Why you should flush your brake fluid properly

I put the prongs of my little tester in the reservoirs once in a while just to check, but flush/bleed all my vehicles every 2 years anywho.

Why you should flush your brake fluid properly

Pure conjecture. Get a brake fluid moisture tester to measure it correctly. See reply 9. Take the guess work out of it. :lecturef_smilie:

Why you should flush your brake fluid properly

. That's not strictly true. Dual circuit braking system were introduced half a century ago to minimise, if not eliminate, the chance of brake failure happening. Braking performance and 'feel' would be significantly reduced. Some vehicles, where the brake lines run close to exhaust pipes...

08 GS SM5 stuck in gear, code P0730 - easy to replace sensor?

Dopey me - there I was thinking yours was SE5. :banghead: Sorry!!! In that case, not being able to find neutral is a big problem. The sensor cannot cause the problem as it's only a potentiometer/rheostat. Check the lever attachment on the shaft and ensure the R cable linkage is working freely.

08 GS SM5 stuck in gear, code P0730 - easy to replace sensor?

As mine is SM5 finding neutral was a non-issue - but I don't recall what the displayed showed, only that didn't like R when going forward. :roflblack: It's not a huge job to replace the GP sensor - allow 4 hours. Minimal plastic to be removed.
