• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Stripped out handlebar bolt :(

Monk, if your original intent was to use the center mount phone mount you purchased and now have another phone mount and the rest of the original 4 bolts are still intact, my choice would be just to live with the one wallowed out bolt. I may not have the whole story, but if every thing...

    2012 Body Panel Removal?

T30 Torx gets almost all the tupperware off along with a small flat screwdriver or paint can lifter to pull the plastic center of the plastic rivits. Leave the four security Torx screws alone--- they hold plastic prongs that pull off when the rest of the fasteners are off.

    2016 RTS 350 miles report

I've used the Harbor Freight balancing stand with tapered cones to balance wheels on my two wheelers and spyders, but since trying Lamonsters Centramatics, I'll just change tires as needed and keep the rolling smooth with the centramatics as they wear!!

    2016 RTS 350 miles report

Enjoy your 16 RTS - it will provide Myles of Smyles as you Ryde and make it your own. The front tires likely are flat spotted from sitting, and Kumho Solus KH16 and Federal Formosas have worked well for us. The belt vibration on my 15 RT has been minor and persistent between 70 and 72 mph...

    Stupid Belt

Chocking in front of the front wheels, and also using a Wedged chock up against the back of the new rear tire seems to help me, although I put a thin film of grease under the washers and try to only pull up on the axle nut to tighten. A bit of luck may be involved, and like all have said...

    Oil change by suctioning

Well I just did my 8th full oil change on the 15 RT with 5 qts fresh oil and Hyflo filter 556 from BajaRon. It Went well with a minimum of drips and splash using ramps on my slanted drive. I did siphon about a quart out with the extractor, and cleaned the filter canister. The magnets...

    What's with my gas mileage?

Enjoying the throttle a little on the 16 F3T? If you're only getting 34 mpg with the RT, and now 30 with the low mileage F3T, my 2 cents is that you like to twist the throttle :) The mileage should increase on the F3T as you get more miles, but you wont get 2Dogs mileage unless you ride...

Shift Points on the 1330 cc engine

35 to 50% more torque below 4000 RPM than the twin engine-- 25% more torque above 4000 than the older twin, but you can pull and shift well anywhere above 3000. Your choice.

    OK... I'm In. 2016 RTS SE6 w/2,500 miles

All good comments on getting used to the Spyder and taking it easy for 1000 miles or so. If you have experience on a 4 wheel ATV, its more like that and you may be able to relax your grip a little easier as the Spyder moves under you a little differently. I moved from a Road King to the RT...

How to tell if the rear tire needs replacing

The manual says you need 4/32 tread depth or you should replace. Measure at several points around the tire. Usually this is around 8000-10000 miles on the OEM Kendas. YMMV

    Oil change by suctioning

I have tried it and can only suck out 3 of the 5 quarts fill on the 1330 engine through the filler tube hole. As others have mentioned, it reduces the oil drain through the two sides (clutch and engine side) and can extract a little from the filter canister, but you still need to pull the...

    Kumho Ecsta AST

Dennis it sounds like you have your Pirelli about dialed in for your expectations and type of riding. I would say that 17,000 miles isnt bad for what I take to be a "tackier" tire that gives you good performance. My two cents is that all of our 225/50R15 tires wear more in the middle due...

    2014 ST Coolant Question

Orange XPS extended life coolant part number 779150 in the quarts; our 1330 F3T took 4 qts, but your 990 may take less.

    Belt Tensioner - why

It depends on your machine, how your ride and what your level of OCD is regarding worrying or noticing vibrations, etc. On my 15 RT I have over 50,000 miles and noticed the vibration when on the interstates between 70 and 73 mph roughly but only when the load, and speed matched the belt...

Love the Forum but Reading the Manual

While most of us are sequestered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it's a good time to catch up on your reading. I know I have about wore out my usual goto internet sites, but its nice to get away from the deluge of virus news and just take a break with some easy reading. I pulled out the...

+2 to IdahoMtn and Johnv50 on taking some time in the parking lot doing the figure 8s and cone drills and panic braking drills. I remember riding our first 11RT home from the dealer and the 25 miles of open road still was an adventure.. but a good one. My wife spent several hours with...

    2019 RT-L temp gauge

    Console support - stuck screws

+1 " The brass is delicate, and those bolts are to be installed by hand; power screwdrivers and impacts mess them up too easy. " My number one complaint with new techs at some dealers is tearing up the body fasteners with over torqueing drill/drivers!

Whining Noise in Front left when it is raining.

You might check the front pulley for the dreaded "red rust" that occurs when the splines on the pulley start to wear.. Our 2016 F3T had a whining noise that we thought might be the rear belt/pulley area, but our local shop checked it and replaced the front pulley (under warranty). Just a thought..
