• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Other than better luggage design are the 2020s that much better than a 2014?

I've been considering upgrading from our 2014 RT-Limited to a 2020+ mainly because of the completely idiotic design of the top case on the 2014 to when-ever BRP decided to incorporate a sensible luggage system with a much more user-friendly design of the top case That itty-bitty oddly shaped POS...

Anyone seen a Brake Light Flasher Kit for the Top Case light?

Our 2014 RT-L has a flashing brake light on the top-case but I have no idea of details as we bought it used in 2017.

I have questions about various model configurations

blacklightning, that's something I had in mind as I already have a small rack that I built & used to carry camping gear on the sport-touring bike once upon a time. I no longer have that bike but kept the rack. It is only 15" x 30" though. What size is the one you have pictured? How does it...

I have questions about various model configurations

Yeah, it's too bad they couldn't get their act together for those folks who plan on touring capacity luggage without having to pull a trailer. Just knowing I don't gain anything with an F3 kicks it out of the mix and we cannot afford the upgrade to the newer RTs right now. I've been known to...

I have questions about various model configurations

If I had this '14 sold, those would be very tempting and not all that far from me at ~260 miles.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Not actually today but did finish repairing the parking brake mechanism on Saturday after I botched the job of putting things back together properly on the last tire change a few weeks ago. I had failed to get the base plate of the brake caliper properly seated over the pin in the frame and the...

I have questions about various model configurations

:yikes: 55 gallons is about the capacity of the trunk on our Passat. The GIVI is only meager 55 liters :roflblack:

I have questions about various model configurations

When we bought our 2014 RT Limited in the fall of 2017, I did not know a whole lot about the various Spyder models available. Now, 5 years later I am still not very well informed on that subject. That said, I am seeking information on models after 2014 that first had a larger, more sensibly...

Found a Push button garage door opener!

I do something similar to BLUENIGHT911. Like most openers, mine came with two remote units. I keep one in my car and one in the inner pocket of my riding jacket. Our cars live under an open carport all of the time except when I take them up to the shop 80 yards away for maintenance issues &...

    Sprocket vs Shaft final drive

FWIW: I currently have put just shy of 450K miles on BMWs and have had only one final drive problem. I noticed oil spots on the back of the right saddlebag as I approached one of the bikes from behind. Closer inspection revealed some oil on the rear rim with that distinct smell of...

Can a Garmin Zumo & a cell phone be mounted together??

My take on Garmin AND cell phones is both are just another distraction we do not need while engaging in an already somewhat risky adventure. After trying to use the Garmin during the first few months after getting it, I made that decision and use it only if I get completely lost in foreign...

    Riders Etiquette, "The Salute"

I don't recall who first told me this, but I always just point my left index finger toward the ground far enough from my body to be certain it can be clearly seen by approaching rider(s). The premise is twofold: 1. to acknowledge the commonality of riding and 2. to honor the fallen who are no...

Anybody have experience with Can-Am Trailering Cover?

Just food for thought: It doesn't get covered to protect it from the elements while you are riding it, why then would you cover it on an open trailer? Being exposed to the elements is no harsher when trailering than when riding.

not trying to; just making a general statement.

Suggestions on which Stick on Convex Mirrors to get?

I use the round stick-on mirrors on our Spyder as well as bikes that have a fixed mirror large enough to do so. When properly adjusted, the combination of the stick-ons, your regular mirror, your peripheral vision and regular vision, give you 360° of vision without ever turning your head. I do...

having trouble getting rear brake pads in place

All right: all the new parts have arrived--brake pads from BajaRon, new cable and pulley from Lone Star Power Sports in Amarillo. I'll be attempting to install all of this and the orientation of the pulley over the next couple of days. Any advice or videos would be welcome and appreciated...

Extra fuel idea - what do you think?

That's what I thought and the idea of using the passenger floorboards as a mounting point for the small thin fuel cells seems to be a brilliant way to go.
