• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

As I said, although perhaps not clearly enough, was that I changed the UTC _OFFSET_ number on my Spyder to the correct one for the new Daylight Saving Time.

Yes, I understand what you are saying, but I did change what it was before to the current setting. And now the Spyder's clock is correct. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTC_offset

Updating the time... So I just did the time check, and my computers, smart phone, and tablets all did their own thing and were correct. I had to adjust the alarm clock in my bedroom, and the clocks on the microwave and the oven in my kitchen. I also had to adjust the time on my Honda Ridgeline...

    Random thought for the day

I grew up in S. California, but eventually moved to Indiana for a job. At the time, Indiana didn't observe daylight savings time. When they adopted it State wide in 2006, there was some discussion at work about how to know what time to change the clocks to. So I taught them what I had been...

Has anyone heard any rumors about a new 1600 engine for 2027 Spyders?

The Wright R-3350 Duplex-Cyclone radial engine has 18 cylinders. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wright_R-3350_Duplex-Cyclone Yeah, yeah... it's a twin-row engine made from two 9 cylinder rows. So sue Google. ;)

Has anyone heard any rumors about a new 1600 engine for 2027 Spyders?

:::sigh::: Since installing the BRP Connect 4.1 software update to my Spyder in July 2025, Apple CarPlay has worked very well for me, other than a few hours when I was in a narrow valley in North Carolina where there was no cell phone service. My equipment: 2024 CAN-AM Spyder RT Sea2Sky Apple...

CarPlay Froze, then entire Head Unit Froze Up While Riding, then supposedly updated and rebooted on the Highway - Anyone else had this happen?

I have an iPhone 16e, which recently replaced an iPhone SE 2nd Gen. I have a Sena 3S Plus headset in my helmet, which uses bluetooth 5.1. I had some issues in the past where sometimes things would connect and sometimes they would not. I haven't had any issues since the BRP Connect 4.1 software...

Has anyone heard any rumors about a new 1600 engine for 2027 Spyders?

I think they need to go with a 6 cylinder radial engine design.

Looking for a good GPS - Touring, no off road. Considering Garmin Zumo XT - thoughts?

So a bit more time with Google trying to figure this out and I found out that it's working exactly as Google designed it to work. It is basically (re)plotting the route using what it knows about current road conditions at the time the route is being plotted. Which could be entirely different...

Looking for a good GPS - Touring, no off road. Considering Garmin Zumo XT - thoughts?

So I tried to plot the route I am taking to my sister's house for Thanksgiving, and Google Maps gave me lots of problems. I could create the route using the Google Maps application on my computer, and then try to send it to my iPhone, at which point it only said I could email a copy of it to my...

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

I agree, if it were a private party considering purchasing the vehicle. But if it were seized by US Customs and Border Protection it's a different situation:

Looking for a good GPS - Touring, no off road. Considering Garmin Zumo XT - thoughts?

Actually, I have a much longer trip coming up in a few weeks, so I guess I can plot it out now. It's a trip to visit family for Thanksgiving, and a quick check says it's about 800 miles and 13 hours driving, each direction. 13 hours there, 13 hours back. I'm planning to break it into a day and a...

Oop's! Look out BRP, Honda has a new 3-wheeler coming out!

Looks like it has plenty of room for clothes and food while "touring" around the country.

Yes, a fully restored 1967 or earlier VW Transporter is worth a lot of money. Some models are worth more than others because of their rarity.

Wow. That front end is really ugly.

Oop's! Look out BRP, Honda has a new 3-wheeler coming out!

And now I'm thinking I need a Manx VW powered dune buggy... or maybe a Porsche powered version... and a garage expansion to store it! https://meyersmanx.com/

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

Possibly, although the age of the vehicle would have been a factor. It was a 1967 VW Westfalia camper van, and it would been seized in 1992, so a 25 year old vehicle with a rather faded exterior and a fairly big dent on one side.

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

I had a 1967 VW Westfalia poptop camper van many years ago. Getting the engine out of it was a lot easier than a Bug, although the chopped off rear end of a Baja Bug that was probably even easier than my Westie. With the Westie, after you removed the rear bumper there was a rear panel that was...
