• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Top Side Panel Removal - Stopped in my tracks

As said above, don't try to take those silver torx screws out of the body panel. All of the torx screws that hold on body parts are the dark coloured kind that do not need a special driver. On that upper middle body panel there are four torx screws (I think). One at the back, two under the...

Belt alignment, what am I doing wrong?

O.K. Alright, I finished adjusting and alighning the belt. I guess the right side adjuster was off almost one full turn. Good grief is the belt sensitive to small movements. I think that my final adjustment (spinning the wheel by hand) was about 3mm or so from the inner flange. After riding...

Belt alignment, what am I doing wrong?

NancysToy: Thank for that, I was rather wondering what I was going to do about deflection without the sonic device. The drive belt on the Can Am is so much longer than what I'm used to. Anyway, back at it tomorrow when I have a chance.

Belt alignment, what am I doing wrong?

Bobogera: Thanks for the info. I removed the muffler because the RT that I'm working on will not allow me to get the torque wrench and rather tallish socket on the nut without removing (or at least loosening it up). I should have said I was working on an RT. I took the cotter pin out because...

Belt alignment, what am I doing wrong?

Yes, I had the rear end jacked up and I was running the rear wheel by hand. I had the axle loose enough that I thought that I should be having some effect. When that didn't help much I did in fact run the engine and ran it in 1st and reverse. In reverse the belt tacks to the left. I was...

Belt alignment, what am I doing wrong?

Okay, I took off the muffler, removed the plastic caps, took out the cotter pin, loosened up the axle nut, then tightened the right adjuster about 1/2 a turn (to get the belt off the inner flange) and the belt didn't move at all. It continues to ride on the inner flange of the rear pulley...

    Anti Vib Work

I knew that mine had the problem as soon as I brought mine home, and when I saw the vibration thread here it confirmed it in my mind. The hole that the bolt goes through (as I understand it) is elongated, and perhaps due to tolerance differences some (if positioned all the way to the top of the...

    Vibration..More Information!!!

Thank you Hey Sinkhole, Thank you very much for the added info and the pictures. I rather suspected that there might be a couple of electrical connectors that were hidden back there. I do want to see how it comes off and to know how to access stuff in the nose, but I thought that I would...

    Vibration..More Information!!!

oops, one more question. Once the nose is loose, are all of the electrical / cable connections (other than the headlight adjusters) are they all pushed up behind the nose or are they obvious and under the small service covers? Is the nose heavy or bulky - that is can I hang onto it myself...

    Vibration..More Information!!!

Sinkhole, Thanks for such a quick response over a holiday. The more I looked at the manual, it looks like this little fairing (that the strut goes through) needs to be removed might also have one retaining screw underneath the middle top panel. I don't have metal dust on the frame yet, but...

    Vibration..More Information!!!

Me too I guess. After looking at this thread, I looked on the left side of the RT ond it sure looks like I have this issue as well. There is some rpm where it feels like something is hitting something else hard (I can feel it through the footpegs on both sides). Here's my question: I am not...

Thanks Tim Yeah, you're right. I did notice that the "light touch" idea works better. The Harley needs a heavy push to react quickly, but with the power steering of the Spyder, the light touch deal makes total sense. Thank you for the positive comments. I just need to put more time in the seat.

    Question on air-cooled engines.

Harley's okay I have a 89 inch (like 1440cc or so) run by one carburetor in my Harley. I have a small Jagg oil cooler and I have never run hot. The new twin cam 96 inch bikes that have EFi tend run lean stock- so they can run a little hot. However, there have not been warranty claims for...

    brake reservoir leaks?

Good to know. I think that when I have the 600 mi service done (I hope to do all the others myself) that I will have them check that area.

    Belt tension, model number

Easy one first. Where doi I find the model number? Like B5A , ABAA or whatever? I looked at the recall information posted by Lamonster and in the belt tension section they use some wierd Gizmo that senses harmonic vibration to measure belt tension. No way. I can't use belt deflection? That...

Thanks Thank you clueless for the heads up. I knew about the DPS and that has been done already. I don't have a radio, so no antenna. Yeah, when I got it home, I found the tool puch sitting on top of the reservoir. Truth is that I dont like the idea of the tool bag under the seat. I put it...

I went ahead and Bought the RT my impressions. For the first 3 miles, I seriously thought, "What kind of a twitchy suicide machine did I buy?" It darted from side to side and did not feel good at all. However, I heard this (saw written) that a new rider has to give it a little time. I took...

SpydermanCT, you must be sending me vibes from across the country. I am going to go tomorrow and see what kind of financing they have available. The owner seemed very nice and it really is a fair chunk off sticker. With all the lurking I have been doing, there seem to be very few problem...

Thank you fro the warm welcome. Yeah, not only do I have a Harley, but I have a 23 year old Harley so I'm used to it. Even HD owners will sometimes ask me "What is that?" ha ha. I guess I'm not too concerned about a test ride (though I'm aware that it will take some getting used to for sure.)...
