• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2014 Spyder RT Oil Change

One thing, on the F3-S Spyder anyway, remove the oil filter together with the inner bolt. Don't try to remove the bolt and then the cover-it won't come out. Take it all out together, cover, bolt and filter as one piece. Give them a chance to finish draining, and therefore leaving less of a mess...

Have you had an ECU Flash? How long did it take? Any good?

How did you pay them? Did you send in the ECU and cover first, or did you have to pay them first? I'm thinking of having mine done too.

Got offer F-3Daytona 500 limited edition for 13,500 with 700 miles on, good deal???

Yes it has provisions to lock out ABS and traction control for more wheel-spinning fun and drifting. You activate it by holding down the Mode and "Up" buttons at the same time. And it returns to default after turning the ignition switch off then on. I have a 2017 Daytona, and I think the 2018...

Got offer F-3Daytona 500 limited edition for 13,500 with 700 miles on, good deal???

If it's a 2017, that's what I have and yes, that is a very good deal. But watch out for hidden costs and fees, and also finance charges if you're borrowing.

    Vibration GONE

Also check the overall belt tension with a Krickit 2. I run my belt at 170 lbs. along with a tensioner. I have no vibration, and the whine that appeared between 40-50 mph which is common among the F3 units is gone too.

    Whining Sound At 50mph ???

I've noticed that the whine varied with the helmet I wore too, but a noise is still a noise. I read that a tiny dollop of grease on the belt stops the whine. On the other hand, wouldnt the grease attack the rubber in the belt?

    Front Sprocket Spline Failures

Also, extreme belt tension can cause/hasten wear on the drive sprocket and counter shaft splines. If it's whining back there, loosen the tension until it's just tight enough to be quiet and have no slop.

    Front Sprocket Spline Failures

That powder comes from iron particles coming off the drive sprocket and spline, being exposed to dampness and then rusting. Moisture can't get to the splines directly. The drive sprocket is basically coming apart, and when you start seeing the red powder, time to change the sprocket-and lube the...

    Whining Sound At 50mph ???

It could be belt noise..On my F3-S I had a consistent whine at 40-42 MPH . I lowered the belt tension, installed a vibration damper/tensioner and no more whine or vibrations. I personally think BRP calls for way too much tension on the belt. It should be loose enough to not make noise and only...

F3 Signature Light, Nice, but don't buy!

On the other side of the coin, I bought a Tricled set of fog lights for my F3-S. After about a week, one of them began to dim or blink out intermittently. So I contacted them, sending a picture of what the light was doing (it was dimmer than the other at that time), and they sent me a...

Will shaft drive be coming to the 1330?

Hopefully the Spyder will not get shaft drive. While it is more reliable since there's no belt or chain to maintain and eventually replace, it is also more complicated. It is also inefficient, since the power flow has to change direction twice because of the gear sets needed. And, thanks to the...

17,000 Miles and the front pulley is history!

Lubing The Slines Or lube with heavy bearing grease at 5-year intervals or 30k miles, whichever comes first. And this method doesn't "glue" the sprocket to the shaft! Careful though, just lightly "wet" the splines. You don't want any grease oozing out when you torque down the bolt.

17,000 Miles and the front pulley is history!

Preventative Maintenance I was thinking of going ahead and pulling off the sprocket on my F3 with 2000 miles to prevent this issue, and installing the loctite shaft compound. If the sprocket isn't seized, do I still need a puller? Thanks.:f_spider:

17,000 Miles and the front pulley is history!

It's a Spyder :yikes: Could be worse..See SlingShot swing arm, shaft-and-rear end failures.

17,000 Miles and the front pulley is history!

Rusty Sprocket Thanks..you would have thought that, with CanAm's obsession with putting self-locking compounds and locktite on just about every nut and bolt on their machines, they would have applied locktite spline retainer to that shaft. Probably will on their newest machines.:spyder:

17,000 Miles and the front pulley is history!

Rusty Sprocket I wonder if, for preventative maintenance, you could remove the front sprocket and grease the splines lightly with heavy bearing grease?

Dry Sump? The 998 motor is dry-sump. The ACE-1330 is not. It just has a very difficult-to-read dipstick. Terry

    Loose weight and

Lithium Battery No it shouldn't, because unlike lead-acid batteries, the voltage from a lithium battery is constant. Your electrics don't like low voltage or voltage spikes, and lithium batteries were designed to eliminate these problems.. So, your lithium battery will crank the engine safely...
