• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Old Gold Wing rider considering a 2012 RT need help finding a fair value for it and advice.

Like any vehicle, trying as many as you can will answer a lot of your questions in ways that a text reply here isn't going to be able to do. The 2012 was a decent year for the Spyder RT. 30k on a decently maintained Spyder is no big deal. But you may find your local dealership may not work on a...

Where can I find this 80 Amp alternator fuse?

As PDXRTL reports. A fusable link is a fusable link. Any one of the correct amperage that will fit will work just fine. Your Spyder will never know the difference. And probably for a good deal less money and wait time than the BRP replacement.

How noticeable is the Engine heat: F3 vs RT?

One of the best, simplest, and cheapest ways to reduce engine produced rider heat on the Spyder is to remove the plastic splash panels from the bottom of the frame. This gives heat buildup in the engine compartment somewhere to go other than on you or your passenger. Not to mention the added...

Where to find the RT-L Air filter - it's not where my Owner's Manual suggests!

The industry standard, worldwide as far as I know, is left and right are as the driver is seated on (or in) the vehicle unless otherwise specifically noted. This eleminates the issue of which side the driver finds themselvers. Other terms, such as driver's or passenger side, can be found. But...

What are these Brake pad "liners" called and where can we order new ones?

Brembo has the reputation of making some of the best brake components in the world. And rightly deserved. But evidence on the ground is that while the calipers are indeed an excellent product, the OEM rotors, and to a much leeser degree, the pads, are not up to their usual, stellar performance...

    Happy 250th Birthday America!

First, I must say I'm surprised that I'm the one doing this. I waited, assuming one of you "Oorah!" types would jump on this one. I am an Oorah! guy myself. But I didn't come by it legitimately because I never served. 2 Brothers, a father, and a grandfather with a number of other relatives and...

Just a word to the wise about rear brake rotors.

...then you just twist the heads off the bolts. Either way, you can get the tone ring off. We have to assume the rotor itself is no good. So, nothing lost except that you'll have to replace the tone ring bolts. ;)

Just a word to the wise about rear brake rotors.

A little heat from a propane torch will get those bolts off easy-peasy. The only rotor’s I’ve seen that have the tone ring attached are used. I hope this easily resolved issue isn’t his problem source.

Which Battery tender works best - OptiMate 3 or the Battery Tender Junior?

There is nothing wrong with the Battery Tender Jr. It's a good product. But the OP is looking for the best bang for his buck. And for the money, the Optimate 3 is a better choice.

Now that is an interesting handle evoking questions that I'm not going to ask!

Which Battery tender works best - OptiMate 3 or the Battery Tender Junior?

The OptiMate 3 has a lot more going for it than the Battery Tender Jr. I've been very happy with the Optimate chargers that we are using. Though I've not used the Optimate 3.

Unexplained drained battery - anyone else? Any help/ideas?

If it is a Yuasa 350 cca battery, it is doubtful that you need a new one. The one you have should be returned to full charge with the correct charger and then placed on a battery tender. You can get units that will do both a full charge and then a maintenence float charge once reaching 100% if...

Unexplained drained battery - anyone else? Any help/ideas?

The Spyder is notorious for parasitic battery drain. Short trips, weeks between riding, it all adds up to a dead battery. You'll need to get a decent battery tender and keep it hooked up when the bike is not in use or you will continue to have this same issue. And eventually, you'll need a new...

Just a word to the wise about rear brake rotors.

There is no reason to spend $240.00 on a rotor. The correct rotor is easily obtained from numerous sources. Hypurone is correct in saying that the rotor has nothing to do with the VSS (ABS) system. There is no such thing as a non-ABS rotor for the Spyder. Not sure where the OP is getting...

    Goodbye

I have to agree 100% with WisconsinDavid. This is a great place to be. It provides not only valuable information and comradery. It's also quite entertaining at times. As far as I know, the moderators do this more for love than money (for which there may be none of the latter). And I suspect it's...

    Question for mecsw500

This is an interesting position. While I agree that there might be some potential for liability, especially if the wrong tire is chosen. Yet in all these years with thousands of riders having traveled millions of miles on 'Car' tire clad Spyders. I don't know of anyone who has heard of a case...

How long does the Factory Belt Tensioner last by miles?

This gets us into the Grape-Nuts arena. A cereal which contains No Grapes and No Nuts! Unfortunately, more true than anyone would wish. BRP should give those away. Belt sales would surely cover the expense!

Question about the 4 PSI rule for tire inflation

I have to agree. There is more to life than how long a tire lasts. Like being alive to appreciate it. Going too low can create surprises that you may not like. We have had a customer come in with 7 lbs. in the rear tire. And another come in with 51 lbs. in his rear tire. That's the spectrium...
