• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

mecsw500. My initials followed by Smith and Wesson 500 after my hobby of collecting large calibre revolvers.

Looking for Navigation options besides ACP - What do you recommend?

I just use Apple Maps on the iPhone. I save routes by sending them to Apple Notes. I just find the route under Notes, select it and it starts Maps with the route I selected (Maps doesn't save routes by name). I sometimes have used Google Maps, but I prefer Apple Maps to be honest. I don't...

    My unscientific noise study

AI is just nothing but fancy statistics. It works off the inputs it has been trained upon. Sure, it combines partial solutions in ways we have not perhaps thought about, but it isn't capable of real innovation. Having worked on AI systems from way back in the late 70's and early 80's with...

    My unscientific noise study

Oh yes, I forgot about the different dB scales. I’m getting senile. Either way, you are correct in that we tend to hear sound as some kind of inverse scale that rises more slowly than actual sound pressure. That makes sense as running a Marshall full stack at 5 is deafening, yet running it at...

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

My dad served in the Sinai and the Suez Crisis of the 1950’s as an MP in the British Army.

UK Ryker owners - Is a Ryker Rally Suitable for UK's Potholed Roads?

I’m six foot. I fitted a 1-1/4” bar riser to my late model Spyder and now things are really comfortable. I’d ride the stock bike for a 1,000 miles or more to get used to everything, both fitment and handling wise before rushing out to modify it. At 6 foot I think that’s probably within the...

Can anyone post pics, and close-ups, of their installation of Wind Deflectors 38036-219400164?

My 2026 Sea to Sky came with the adjustable wind deflectors. They work better in keeping the rain off than affecting the temperature much. Take a look at the Can Am stock pictures of a late model Sea to Sky to see where they mount. To get exact measurements, pop into the dealer with a tape...

    My unscientific noise study

Sound level measurement in decibels is a logarithmic not a linear scale. 10 dB increase = 100 times the sound level intensity, if my memory serves me correctly. Baja Ron is correct, my hearing is shot but I should still preserve what’s left of it. Too much loud on stage amplification is what...

2026 S2S transmission failure - Anyone else having similar issues?

I would suspect that if the Spyder is in 6th gear, which it appears to be, then like Baja Ron says, it points to the clutch. If you are throwing false Neutrals between gears, it means that you have mechanical problems in the transmission, but that’s unlikely to be honest. It’s much more likely...

    Happy Birthday

My wife is nearly four years older than me. We both brought two kids to the marriage 30+ years ago. We decided four was enough and we didn’t want to squeeze a fifth one in together. I am apparently her “toy boy” she says. So we ended up with a blended family where her and my kids are close...

Ikon Front Shocks - Who Uses 'Em & What Do You Think?

It doesn't seem to list Can Am Spyders under the selection of models. But, if you go to the FAQ part of the site: https://www.ikonsuspension.com.au/faq/ The select the "APPLICATIONS" menu option across the top, it will download a PDF file and in there is the list of all applications which...

Today I tried navigation via BRP Go (2024+)...

I broke down and bought the following device that can report instantaneous current draw in mA, current draw over time in mAh, voltage, and even graph it all for you. I bought overnight from Amazon for $13. USB C Tester Power Meter, 4-30V 0-12A Type-C PD Tester Digital Multimeter, Voltage and...

2026 S2S transmission failure - Anyone else having similar issues?

Isn't there an HCM filter that perhaps should be changed as well, just in case of swarf or clutch material?

    Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday. Both my wife and I have retired and although not yet 80, we are still waiting for either her kids or my kids to reproduce grandchildren, let alone great grandchildren. I think at this stage, I've just given up hope. Good job we have cats. I hope you have a splendid week.

Your Weather News @ August 2026

Heavy thunderstorms here this evening. Torrential rain for a bit. Even had very rare tornado watch in Toole, UT, and the Great West Desert. This side of the Oquirrh Mountains, it was just the thunderstorm and flash flood watches. All stopped now. Some very welcome rain for suppression of the...

UK Ryker owners - Is a Ryker Rally Suitable for UK's Potholed Roads?

Stand on a street corner holding up a poster saying something evenly remotely contentious and you’ll soon find one. In fact you’ll find quite a few, possibly including an armed response unit and a canine unit.

2026 S2S transmission failure - Anyone else having similar issues?

My 2026 S2S has been faultless so far. Does it throw any fault codes BUDS3 can pick up? That’s going to be a hard one to trace as it could be electronics, wiring, solenoids, or mechanical issues. I’m sure the dealer is as puzzled as you are, as it’s probably a pretty rare issue they may never...

Rear tire mileage - How are you people getting 10,000 + miles on Kenda tires?

I know not everyone agrees, but I find the current XPS branded Kenda tires are an improvement over the originals I had on my 2021 bike. Having had the opportunity to run a good few thousand miles on them they seem better on 100F days, not feeling so greasy on black top. They are certainly much...

My cats are dumb. They like a good thunderstorm. They sit glued to the window to watch the flashes of lightning. The thunder doesn’t seem to bother them at all. When the heavy rain comes they just try to paw the rain as it runs down the outside of the windows. Show them a cat carrier and it’s...
