• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Too hot to ride, or maybe I’m just getting old

I bought the Alphacool Frosty Mesh vests from Amazon. Seem to work well. They have a number of products on their store on Amazon. They were at a pretty reasonable price too. I pop the second set of cooling blocks they give you in a cooler in the trunk to change after about 3 to 4 hours. On a...

Any ideas about why my Spyder has No Crank - What gives?

There should be an accessory power source on most Spyders that is keyed to the ignition. On some it is down the right hand side under the Tupperware, on the later models like mine I'm not so sure which side it's on. I'm not sure about the 2011 but I'm pretty sure there's a provision for a 12...

Totally bonkers 'Miles to empty' on 2020+ Spyder - can it be fixed?

Yes, I saw on the maps that fuel stops were quite away apart. It's like that out here in the mountain West of the US, I-70 through Central Utah has a 100+ mile stretch without gas, and that's a crazy uphill mountain climb heading West, so fuel consumption can drop a fair bit from that even...

Can I Gut my cat? Has anyone else done this?

If you are going to actually gut the CAT, then I strongly suggest you use appropriate respiratory equipment. The heavy metals, oxides, hydrocarbon dust within should not be inhaled. Some are toxic and a lot are a fine dust particulates which are certainly not good for your health. Wear old...

Totally bonkers 'Miles to empty' on 2020+ Spyder - can it be fixed?

Out here in the mountain west of the US you tend to learn to fill up with gas where and when it is available when outside of major urban centers. You are never quite sure on your particular route where the next gas station might be. I'm sure it's the same in Oz, especially when heading West to...

My F3S tire is showing wear after only 2000 miles.

At 26 or even the usually the Can Am recommended 28 psi, 2,000 miles is an extremely low mileage for a rear tire, even a Kenda one. Are the tires original or are they, as I presume, a replacement. You could check to see the manufacturing date on the sidewall to make sure they weren't very old...

Does this Belt Tensioner Idler Stabilizer Roller look familiar? Are any parts (Rollers) interchangeable??

I think they might be a bit swamped with drop ins and the proprietor unfortunately has significant health issues. You might want to give them a call during mid week perhaps earlier in the day. I’ve had good experiences when purchasing online. I know it is described as a belt tensioner, but it...

Any suggestions on good Ear protection for lowering wind noise?

That depends on both the type and if over the ear type, like mine, whether you use open or closed cones. If using the closed cones, the vast majority of sound comes through the hearing aid microphones. With modern digital hearing aids you can tune out what frequencies it passes as they have the...

2024 will Crank, but just won't start! More later...

Ah trust comes after all the gremlins are fixed. 😊 It’s like owning an Alfa Romeo or a Lancia. Once everything is sorted twice 😭, and if maintenance is regular, that’s when they begin to pay off into the joy to own period. 😁

Can I Gut my cat? Has anyone else done this?

I think your neighbors will just love you.😊 It will change the performance characteristics of your engine. If, and that’s if, it increases your performance it will likely move your max torque and power up the rev range. In either case, the engine is already peaky enough, moving peak torque...

What kind of navigation do you use on your Canyon, especially when you are out of cell phone service.

Apple Maps doesn’t directly let you save routes under different names to recall later, well at least on the macOS version. What I do is “share” the route with Apple Notes using the share button, starting the title with the text Map Route and then the name for the route. Using this you can just...

Any suggestions on good Ear protection for lowering wind noise?

My phone connects to my hearing aids via Bluetooth. The problem is, putting on and taking off you helmet dislodges them. I just rely on the comm system helmet speakers. Yes, my hearing is probably shot from fifty years of riding without earplugs and the first twenty of that without fairings and...

Wondering about replacing my '21 Spyder with a '26 (or '27) - any thoughts on the newer Spyders being different or better enough to justify the spend?

Funnily about that. I keep getting advertisements in the postal mail from insurance companies offering grave robbing insurance. Apparently, and rather weirdly, there is insurance for such things. Me, I’m counting on a cremation as most everyone I know will want to be darned sure I’m not digging...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Oil changes cost more on a Spyder partly because the oil change subsequent oil level checks are more complex as it is a dry sump engine. The oil level has to be checked under certain circumstances to ensure the level is correct when the engine has the right amount of oil in it and the rest is...

2012 RT experiencing mushy brakes - pedal hitting the a/mkt floorboard! Why now?? Re-installed OEM gear, still mushy! Any ideas or suggestions?

Truly sad about the helicopter crew. It seems the fire was ignited by the crash itself. I have seen a Sky Crane up close. It was the entrance exhibit at the Pema aerospace museum in AZ. You can stand underneath it and see how truly vast they are. That aircraft was part of the first series of...

Conflicting pairing instructions for Android Phones - is there a specific sequence that works? Or just don't??

From what I’ve read, the V 5.1.0 release for 10.25” display equipped Spyder’s is supposed to support Android phones connecting to the Spyder when using the updated BRP Go! app. Now, what combination or permutation of USB and Bluetooth needs to be set up, and where the helmet needs to be paired...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Today it was 104°F when we had to go out. The air was very smokey too. It was 98°F in the garage. Took 4 wheels instead. It also has a cabin filter for pulling smoke from the air. Got back at 8:30 PM. It was still around 100°F outside.

Should I roll off the Throttle when upshifting, or maintain the position? What are the best RPM's?

I'll rev mine to that occasionally, but peak torque is at 5,000, so for normal every day riding around town and such, I don't go much over 5,000 RPM. It's a decent torque motor, but you have to be careful not to lug it down at 3,000 rpm or less. I don't rev it out to 7,000 in town as it feels a...

Totally bonkers 'Miles to empty' on 2020+ Spyder - can it be fixed?

It does this on my bike too. I assume it is computing the fuel range using the average fuel consumption I was getting in the past so many miles or so much a time period. My Range Rover does this too. As I ride for a while, the predicted miles until empty seems to correct itself and make more...
