• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Retired this past Friday.

Retired in March. Glad to see I'm not the only one who isn't able to do all the things I'd like to do. Good news is that there is no pressure. I'll get to things eventually. How did I ever manage life in all those years I was working full time?

Review: Spyder Extras Flip Up Seat Support Bracket

Looks like a great solution to the problem. And wow, talk about an easy install! But I'm wondering, has BRP addressed the issue on the 2024 models? I've got 14,000+ miles on mine and a lot of seat lifts with no problems so far. If I was going to have a strut problem, should I have experienced...

New 10.25 screen update on Oct 7, 2024 - What new features did it add?

If BUDS2 was required, they should have told us that in the email we received this morning rather than giving us a link for how to do it ourselves. But, I realize that's me expecting BRP to do the logical thing and I should know better. :)

New 10.25 screen update on Oct 7, 2024 - What new features did it add?

Same email, same result. I'll keep waiting and watching hoping that someone is able to post that the update is actually available.

Anyone here like planning their own routes?

I think Tyre was the predecessor to MyRouteApp (MRA). From the tyre2navigate page, appears there was a parting of the ways of the people involved. For as long as I was using only a Garmin to navigate, I didn't find anything better for me to plan with than BaseCamp. It is its own thing and...

My Problem Free time with the RT is over!

"BRP did use Chinese made 300 CCA batteries in 22 &23 and maybe previously but are back to using the Yuasa YTX 24L (350cca) in late 23 and 24" My 2024 RTL came with the Chinese battery, not a Yuasa. I replaced it with a NOCO.

So, how fast can a spyder go and safely make a sharp right turn at an intersection?

One other thing I've learned to use on an RTL with big floorboards is a variation on Peter's recommendation to squeeze the tank with your legs. I move my inside foot towards the rear of the floorboard and lock my knee against the bike as I lift and shift my butt to get at least partially off the...

What do you carry for Travel Snacks?

Kirkland Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Protein Bar is my usual choice. The choco chips don't make too much of a mess even when it gets hot. But I have learned the bars get hard when cold so I try to remember to put them in a pocket that will give them some body heat. My alternate is the Kirkland...

DID Make My Mind up! - Big D's Mighty Red Baron has Arrived!

I've been on two wheels since 2006 (V-Strom 650). As I neared retirement, I started thinking about a new bike to celebrate. I've had a long-time admiration for GoldWings and took a friends for a ride last summer. Great bike. But I'd also been looking at Spyders, knowing their advantages for...

Apple Car Play download initially failed! NOW Finally available....

Hmm, that's a couple people with Cardo units with Bluetooth 5.x for whom ACP is fully working. My Sena SRL-Mesh is BT 5.0, but still not working for the phone and barely for Siri (her responses still sound like a slow talking robot). I was hoping that switching to the official Apple cable might...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

On Friday, picked up the bike from the dealer after the 9300 mile service and a new rear tire. They had a Kanine in stock so I just went with that. Surprised to find out that replacing a rear tire is a 3 hour job - at least that is what they charged me for the labor. Ouch.

What have you done for Heated Gear Wiring, inc Location - '20+ RT's?

I bought the 5' cable from Warm N Safe and added an extension so that it runs directly from the battery and pops up at the back of my seat. I'm not concerned about it being on only with the key turned on because there is nothing drawing power from it unless I'm riding and have my jacket plugged in.

Apple Car Play download initially failed! NOW Finally available....

Inconsistency seems to be the only constant for me so far. Leaving the phone plugged in. Plugging it in before starting the bike (which should be the same as leaving it plugged in). Plugging it in after starting and headset is paired. All of them have worked. All of them have failed. The one...

Review: The Can-Am Ryker... A Great Ride!

Not a Ryker owner, but I'll chime in here with some praise for the machine. I went for a Spyder RTL because it is better (IMO) for touring. But I want to say that I was very impressed with a member of the group I recently went to CO with who was on a Ryker. He never skipped a beat riding along...

New rider with GPS Mount, Seating, Lighting, & accessory questions?

I think this is the thread I had in mind with regards to the heated gear. https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?156671-Any-reason-not-to-Connect-heated-gear-to-acc-outlets-on-2022-F3 I haven't found a thread referencing using the 12v outlet for connecting a battery tender. And I...

Looking for a male connector to fit this? Need to charge GPS!

I can't help with your plug question, but I'm confused by your initial statement. If the GPS is properly connected to the battery, it will charge the GPS. If it isn't charging, or if in the first picture your GPS is running on its battery rather than the Spyder's battery, then I think something...

Anybody purchased Slingmods 5-piece RT Touring Bag bundle?

Yes, I purchased the bundle. Like others, I'm using the liners for the saddlebags and the small one in the bottom of the frunk. Won't be using the trunk bag since that is where I will be storing my helmet in one half and have a small bag to hold stuff in the other half. But if I wasn't using...

New rider with GPS Mount, Seating, Lighting, & accessory questions?

I have a Russell Day Long on my 2009 V-Strom and have long sung its praises. Total game changer for me on that bike. A bit over 9600 miles on my 2024 RTL and I'm amazingly happy with the stock seat. Just had to add a Harley Davidson Air Circulator pad for when it is hot. Very happy I don't have...

Does Installing 12V Cell Phone/GPS Docking Station with USB Ports need longer bolts?

I have the Docking Station which came with longer bolts as mentioned. Thought about adding a riser but like you have wondered about the bolts and whether I would have to find them on my own. Please let us know what you hear from Slingmods.
