• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've gone from ATGATT to H (just Helmet).

My bride of 61+ years was the self-powering pillion, aka stoker, on a tandem bicycle for 25 years, but it took only one long weekend Spyder Rally in SC to convince her that riding the back of the Spyder wasn't for her. Fortunately for me, she fully supports my love of the three-wheeler and I...

Any ideas on adding an aftermarket USB for phone charging during travels on our 2017 RT?

You are new to the Spyder world and you want to log some miles with the bride. You must be at the top of your A-game with the pillion prize behind you. Put the phone in the trunk and let it charge. Return the calls when you stop for a break.

Is the Canyon Riding position narrower than the RT's? Enough to notice & stop cramping hips?

I take a different approach and my avatar tells a bit of the story. If one has stiffness or lacks flexibility, the way to solve or reduce the problem is to do exercises before climbing on the steed; incorporate it into your daily routine. Yoga or a stretching program will help one immensely. At...

Has anyone used a 'Thru the dipstick' 12v Oil extractor on a Spyder?

Allen has it correct. You can use a suction device if you've mistakenly overfilled it, but with a dry sump lubrication system it's essentially a waste of time. You're still going to have to drain the crankcase and clutch cover, aka the transmission plug.

Can anyone tell me what this tray in the RT Trunk is?

    Looks like a 2014 Cognac 2014 Ltd; my RT-S didn't have one.

Why so many Rykers for sale?

BRP had two Canyons at Spyderquest this year, neither of which did a thing for me. I'm past the off-road phase of my life but if I wasn't, I'd split for the fourth wheel on the dirt, rocks, whatever.

2017 RT Battery Replaced - now to fit the accessories

My Battery Tender Junior is plugged into the double receptacle in the ceiling that powers the garage door opener and the tender cord hangs down in the middle of the bay, so when I turn off the Spyder the next thing I do is connect the pigtail in the frunk to the tender.

Having trouble wiring a Garmin XT, so should I just run it on its battery? If I do, will it still show traffic?

I called Garmin and the age of the 660 slowed down the technician I spoke with. His first question to me was why not simply connect the XT mount to the existing wiring that powered the 660? He then said Garmin recommended using the XT mount.

Having trouble wiring a Garmin XT, so should I just run it on its battery? If I do, will it still show traffic?

I sincerely suggest before you connect any wires to the Spyder battery you call Garmin support to verify that the individual mount contact points connections for the XT are EXACTLY THE SAME as those for the 660. While the 660 mount may fit the XT you won't know if all the connections are the...

I HATE Vapor recovery (ECO) gasoline pump nozzles! Is this just "my issue" only? Anyone else? What do you do to avoid this?

I apologize for not being more explicit about my local Costco's gas pump nozzles. I learned immediately to pull the boot back to use the nozzle, but the firehose velocity of the fuel coming out of the nozzle and the total lack of finite control of the nozzle is what made me dump Costco for...

    The things you learn...

One of the most important and, unfortunately, intentionally ignored or overlooked statements about becoming a Spyder owner/ryder.

A paltry 1,000 mile ride in God's country.

You did it right, John, during the week the crotch rocket jocks don't come out until late in the afternoon and you missed the cage club drivers that clog the roads on weekends.

I HATE Vapor recovery (ECO) gasoline pump nozzles! Is this just "my issue" only? Anyone else? What do you do to avoid this?

Your Costco is years behind the Tar Heel state. Our local Costco has had them since Moses was a PFC. They're fine for cages but I go three miles in the opposite direction to a 7-Eleven store that peddles Exxon 93 at an atrocious price but has pump nozzles that allow super smooth low flow fuel...

Well, it finally happened to me! Can't ryde any more; any ideas on what $ to sell or trade for like value?

What you're seeing from commenters is series of anecdotes about what we (in my case two artificial hips) did when we found we faced a challenge to our previously normal riding. Use the Kelly Bluebook, JD Power and Cycle Trader to learn the value of your Spyder and what you believe you can ask...

2025 RT Ltd in need of 1st Service - How much!?!?

Perhaps one of the moderators could add to the "Do's and Do Nots for New Spyder Owners" Sticky in large, bold type that the first service for the 1330 ACE engine is 3,000 miles. https://spyderlovers.com/threads/dos-do-nots-for-new-spyder-owners.41346/

After some True Can-Am insight - will I be making a huge mistake buying the RTL or F3?

I don't know where you're getting you information about all the alleged unreliability and problems with the "early" Spyders. If you're comparing the V-Twin engines to the 1330cc ACE engine, you're mixing apples and prunes. My 2014 RT-S SE6 just rolled over 94K miles Sunday and has had only one...

2015 F3S Oil Pump Failure, replaced, engine still ticking - any ideas on what component/s might have been damaged?

The Rotax 1330 ACE engine is a superior example of just well built a modern ICE can be and how very tolerant it is of a long distance oil change interval.

2023 RT - What do you guys get for miles between Brake Pad Replacements?

Brake pad replacement is like tire replacement, excluding the OEM Crapendas, it depends on how you ride. The least expensive initial approach is to call Bajaron and talk to him about EBC fully sintered brake pads. You will learn a lot. Next ask him about EBC rotors. The combination of the two...

What are your thoughts on Magic Mirrors or Magnetic Mirror mounts for a 2016 RT Limited?

I'm not a contrarian; to each his own. Shawn Smoak has a long winded video of doing an oil change on a 2015 RT in which he shows the correct way to remove and reinstall the mirrors. Find it here:
