• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Canyon Drive Belt Lower Idler Support Recall

Well, it is a new model but some teething problems are to be expected. Apparently the recall affects all Canyons sold in North America. Thanks to a sharp eyed Canyon owner in Germany for the heads up...

    Finally picked up my Canyon

I have noticed the same forward surge on downshift; if I am still on the throttle. If I fully close the throttle before downshift, the surge is minimal.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I updated the software on my Canyon to V 4.1. I initially tried to connect to wi-fi from our old Apple home router; it did not work. The download kept stalling at about 50%. I finally gave up and connected to the modem for our internet service and everything proceeded flawlessly. I'm not...

Is this metallic knocking in reverse normal? 2011 RT

If it is the semi-automatic transmission it is just the clutch actuating and the gear dogs engaging. Perfectly normal.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I added a piece of 1/4" closed cell foam to the inside bottoms of my Canyon side bags. Hopefully that will prevent any hard item bouncing around inside them from dinging the aluminum. As a bonus they provide a thermal barrier from the exhaust. My groceries will stay fresher on the way home...

    Riding Gear Poll

My standard response to anyone questioning my full gear (even during hot weather) is that "I would rather sweat than bleed". Look closely at my avatar, it is what was left of my BMW GS when the Honda Accord driver turned left in front of me. Both the GS and I flipped over the car and down the...

Making custom Linq gear - any ideas &/or specs, diagrams, etc to help?

When I purchased my Canyon I wanted to use the trunk from my BMW GS. I purchased the Ski-Doo LinQ Universal Rack for REV Gen4 860202208 from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09J9796VP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title. It has two latches that connect to the LinQ fittings on my Canyon. I just...

Touring on the Canyon? Just got back from 1600 mile trip - my observations...

1600 miles from Tuesday to Friday with a rally thrown in? Of course I enjoyed it! It also confirmed that my decision to trade my Ryker Rally in on the Canyon was the right one for me.

Touring on the Canyon? Just got back from 1600 mile trip - my observations...

There has been some question about the touring and/or interstate riding ability of the Canyon. I just got back from a 1600 mile trip to the BMW MOA Rally and here are my observations on my base model with added luggage and tank bag. 1. When it rained (really hard) I got wet; light rain not so...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I outfitted my Canyon with the Alaska Leather sheepskin seat cover from my old BMW GS. The fit was perfect. I have a 1500 mile round trip to the BMW MOA rally in Lebanon TN in a few weeks and the sheepskin will make the long days more comfortable. It also holds sentimental value.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I installed the lock tumblers in my Canyon side cases. I found that the procedure was slightly different than demonstrated on the SHAD web site but I just reasoned through it. The most difficult part was installing the fastner that holds the lock bar on each tumbler. Not complicated, just an...

Thought the wife was going to kill me - I bought a new Ryker

Taking her out to dinner was a good move. You didn't want her handling a cast iron skillet at the time.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I received and mounted the Can Am side cases for my Canyon STD (thanks iMotorsports). My previous experiment with the generic SHAD side cases from Amazon resulted in failure and return when I discovered that the Can Am branded SHAD cases had proprietary mounting hardware. They were close, but...

A different take on HD logo on stuff!

I don't see that it makes any difference. I used the tail trunk left over from my BMW GS on my Canyon. The trunk has a big embossed BMW on it but looks like it belongs on the Canyon. BMW/BRP roundell/cog - whatever. Besides, I know several riders who have several different brands of bikes, they...

2024 Dash Display suddenly changing &/or freezing - anyone else? Any fixes?

If you are using an after market lightning cord try changing to an OEM Apple one. Sometimes the after market cords are just a little bit wonky.

Having trouble opening/lifting the Drivers Seat - anyone else? Any fixes/solutions?

I went through exactly the same problem with my Canyon. I finally went back to the dealer for help and this is what I learned. Just turn the key gently to the full clockwise position; just like the starting position. Then push down and turn it clockwise some more. You will be working against...
