• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Method for determining when to replace brakes - suggestions

The reason the rears wear more quickly (which is pretty much the opposite of every other vehicle) is that to stabilize the machine, the rear brake comes on first and releases last. If you're doing a lot of stop & go, or you're relatively easy on your brakes, it accentuates this wear...

MPG dropped after a cat delete install - any ideas/suggestions?

It does sound like something is up. This is not the usual experience if all other factors remain constant from before the cat was replaced.

Is the Alternator shaft squeal just a nuisance, or is it damaging anything?

I wonder if BRP is simply going back to the original parts that did not have this problem. Seems like the easiest, tried and true solution.

87 Octane seems to work just fine

Compression ratio on the 1330 is 12.2 to 1. It is 10.8 to 1 on the 998 V-Twin. Surprisingly, the 1330 is more forgiving on fuel octane than the 998. My guess is that the fuel management system has been improved to compensate better than the older V-Twin. But both will run just fine on 87 octane...

What did you pay for your 9,000 mile service?

Without knowing exactly what is being done. It is impossible to evaluate if you're getting a reasonable deal with these services. The downside to all of this is, do you really know what is being done? There is always a potential difference between claimed service and actual service. We see it...

2014 RT with intermittent buzzing noise - any ideas on what it might be?

If the air is escaping that quickly, I'd say the hole may be too much for Slime to correct. Pulling the relay was a very good move. You'll burn up that new compressor in short order running constantly. You'll probably get a bit rougher ride with the air bag collapsed. But it should not be too...

Spyder Accident on Skyway Bridge. Hope everyone here is safe. :(

Typical vague and lacking any clarity of what actually happened. No way to evaluate the situation. Just a very sad ending.

Another tire thread…but different¿ New Kenda XPS Roadster Tires - more durable...

It is my understanding (which may not be accurate) that the Kanines are a Kenda design while the OEM Spyder tires are a BRP contract using their specs. I am running the Kanines now. I don't get to ride like I used to. But I've ridden them in the rain and in cold weather. The 2 most challanging...

Another tire thread…but different¿ New Kenda XPS Roadster Tires - more durable...

Two of the unfixable issues with previous Kendas (not counting the weak tread area on the rear tires) was the Out of Round and great amount of weight required to balance them. They weren't all Out of Round, but many were. And virtually all took too much weight to balance, indicating poor quality...

    I had both of these...

The Candy Apple Red 500cc Mach III and the Yellow/White 350cc Avenger. The Avenger had 40 hp when the Honda 350 had 36. The Kawasaki weighed 330 and the Honda weighed 375. The big difference between the 350 Kawaski and the 500 Mach III was the lack of sanity. That Mach III was everything and...

Changed the oil, now stuck in Limp Mode, Code P0524! What's wrong??

Yes. As I suspected. The 998 was sensitive to oil pressure. After a service, it can do this, though it is not all that common. It's a bit schetchy to tell someone to run their engine if no oil pressure is suspected. But all is well that ends well! I will say one thing. Working on the Spyder is...

Does a first service/oil change at 500 miles sound "normal" for a 2024 RTL

Have it tested. It's the only way to get beyond guessing. We've had customers who had their oil tested every 1,000 miles. That really tells the story. Not suggesting you do that. They were getting it done for free through their work. But testing at oil change can be very informative.

Not a Spyder Ryde, and not my ride either, but check out some of Australia's Great Ocean Road on a 1972 Honda CB750!

I put 55k on my beloved '71' CB750. It was mint condition. I kept it in tip top shape. I made memorable trips from my home in San-Diego to Kansas City and several other long distance rides. This is the bike on which I rebuilt the shift tumbler assembly coming back from Eugene, Oregon, on the...

Changed the oil, now stuck in Limp Mode, Code P0524! What's wrong??

It is possible that the startup took too long to supply sufficient oil pressure, thus tripping the code. As long as you are using a 5/40 or 10/40 oil, you might want to try again. Assuming the system is now charged, pressure should come up quickly.

Not a Spyder Ryde, and not my ride either, but check out some of Australia's Great Ocean Road on a 1972 Honda CB750!

I had a 71. Great bike! I wonder if she knew about the petcock reserve lever when she ran out of fuel. Probably another 20-30 miles there.

Changed the oil, now stuck in Limp Mode, Code P0524! What's wrong??

I agree with Woodaddict. An oil change should not create a Limp Home Mode unless there was no oil pressure. More information please...

Does a first service/oil change at 500 miles sound "normal" for a 2024 RTL

I'm not saying that Amsoil is the only product that will go 10k in the Spyder while maintaining an excellent viscosity. It's just the only one we've tested extensively that has. It would be fun to do a genuine comparrison using various lubricants with real machines running in realistic...
