• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Battery Query - Does the Can-Bus system cause a battery drain?

Snowbelt has good info and filled in the large gaps I left in my reply. My only addition would be that you need to fully charge the battery with an actual charger before leaving a maintainer like the Optimate 4 to keep it up. They are not designed to bring a low battery back to full charge. I...

Battery Query - Does the Can-Bus system cause a battery drain?

The Spyder will drain your battery. Though I suspicion it is the computer. I've never taken the time to track it down because, in reality, it doesn't really matter where the drain is coming from since it is obviously designed into the vehicle. I seriously doubt there is a reasonable way to get...

FAQ's about BajaRon Sway Bar Kits

Well, there are always 2 factors at work. The machine's capabilities, and the rider's capabilities. My brother and I are both pretty good. But there are much better out there.

Need a shop recommendation to service a 10+ year old Spyder in/near South Bay, LA - any recommendations?

The 10 year old thing is such a lame policy. The truth is, most tech's do not like working on the Spyder. My guess is that to maintain their dealership, they have to work on them to a point. I suspect that the 10 year mark gives them an out with BRP. It is a shame that you can't get a dealership...

FAQ's about BajaRon Sway Bar Kits

My brother had an FJR that he loved. He was totally offended that I had purchased a 2008 GS Spyder. It surprised me because he is a very easy going guy and we always get along. '3-Wheels are for old people who can't ride a real motorcycle', he said to me. He lived in Atascadero. I rode up from...

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

That is a tough one as there are many variables. Where you are located can make a big difference. Though I prefer the manual, typically, they do not demand as much money as the more popular SE model. As with any used vehicle, look at as many as you can. Even if you are not particularly...

Forever mystified by Can Am's lack of style...

The first time I experienced this I asked the owner how she ended up with a color scheme that I knew was not factory. Sometimes people have to explain things to me that are obvious to everyone else. She didn't answer me but took me to her friends Spyder saying, "Let me show you something". Both...

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

The 2010 RT is basically as sound as any year model, V-Twin RT. It just needs a little help to be a fantastic performer. There are some generic things that the 998 needs regardless of year or model. Canister-ectomy, (to prevent gas fume smell and to keep it from going up in flames) crankcase...

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

Which motor is better depends, like most things in life, on what you are looking for. Parts for the 998 V-Twin are not that hard to find if you know where to look. Just because they are not listed at the dealership or a parts house, does not mean you can't find them readily available, in most...

Is the General Altimax RT45 a good Replacing rear tire for a 2017 Spyder RT Ltd?

We had a customer come in complaining that he was only getting about 10k out of his Kumo rear tire. I thought that was odd and asked him what tire pressure he was running. "50 PSI" he said. "That's what it states on the side of the tire". Well, I'll give him that. But you can't always go by...

    A Day With Lamont

There is nothing in this world that I would even think of trading for our memories. Watching you almost get run over when you ran that red light on the freeway overpass with on your Honda Valkyrie really scared me. There wasn't a thing I could do about it. It was 2 controlled intersections...

After oil refill and running, no oil in the HCM filter! Did I miss something?

I did not think it would be lack of oil. But thought I'd ask. You never know. Other than a failed oil pump or just a few seconds of engine running (the HCM filter should fill quickly), a backwards filter is the only thing I can think of. I am hoping that is the problem. Other possibilities could...

Is there any way to charge at more than the 2.1 amps from the USB on the Spyder?

You should be able to get up to 5A with the proper USB C setup. But will your device be able to handle that amount of input?

After oil refill and running, no oil in the HCM filter! Did I miss something?

It is difficult to put the HCM filter in backwards. But it is possible. You did put 4 quarts in, run the engine, then top off to the full mark on the dipstick, right?

After oil refill and running, no oil in the HCM filter! Did I miss something?

Could you have put the filter in backwards? It can be done and that will give you the results you found. As long as you have not driven or shifted gears, I don't think you've hurt anything. The rubber seal goes inward, the solid cap goes to the outside.

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

Very true. We might well have been just 1 trigger pull removed from disaster that day. I'll speak for myself only. But I've never claimed to be smart. However, my stupid was more acute when I was young! It amazes me that I have survived low these many years.
