• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Shoe polish on ST finish

Thanks for the suggestions. Thanks for the suggestions. I have some WD-40 so I'll start there. I also have some various waxes that I haven't used in a long time. If the WD doesn't work, I can wash it off and start down the list. I'll bet at least one of these will solve my problem. I also...

    Shoe polish on ST finish

OK, I have this nice '13 ST L and I am having a problem. My wife wears these nice black leather riding boots. But the heels of her boots have rubbed themselves of the side panels and the front of the saddle bags. None of the cleaners or polishes I use or have used have gotten these black boot...

    Surging under steady throttle.

I have been noticing lately that when I am under steady throttle, often in 3rd or 4th gear, I get some surging. Not a miss and not very pronounced, but noticeable. Seems the most noticeable above 4000 rpm. We have been riding in New Hampshire and most of the time we are in 3rd or 4th gear due...

    Cryin' the blues.

Have 2 good days running. Everything seem just fine. I haven't done a voltage check but all seems fine. We have really been enjoying riding in Vermont and New Hampshire. Boy do I like this 998 in country like this. We have been doing Vermont and New Hampshire in 3rd and 4th gear. The...

    Cryin' the blues.

Picked it up today. Picked it up today and rode it 25 miles home without incident. Heading to the White mountains tomorrow to test it out. When I went to pick it up the service guy said "no charge. Your bike is still under warranty and that stator is covered." These guys have been a Can Am...

    Cryin' the blues.

Took off for our first ride in New Hampshire last Friday and got about 3 miles and the dash started screaming "low voltage." Pulled in to a gas station and shut it off as I needed gas anyway. Yup, you guessed it, dead as a tick when I tried to start it. Got a jump and headed home but only...

    A FANTASTIC VERMONT ROAD !!!!!!

Stop it, you're killin' me..... We came over from VT last weekend. Spent 2 weeks there. Were in an RV park not far from Montpelier. You just can't go wrong in that state. The roads are unbelievable. But I never found the ribs. We are in New Hampshire now for a couple weeks. Not riding...

    ST Limited Question

Thanks Murrey I have had my new Nelson Rigg cover for about a week now and it is 5 times better than the covers I have had before it and very little more money. I can tell that this cover would handle a back trunk without a problem. Thanks for the recommendation. This is a good value. As...

    brake failure notice

Whoa there pahdnaaa!!! Almost any car tire you are switching to in the rear in place of the Kendas will have harder sidewalls. That doesn't mean that they are bad. They were designed to handle much heavier weights. Try running 22 or 23 lbs. in your tire. Most people running car tires with...

    ST Limited Question

This caught my eye Living in a motorhome, we also have no garage. But boy what a ride. Our '13 STL is outside most all the time. We have gone through 2 covers in the 3-1/2 years we have had the bike. I would be interested in trying another cover as the ones we have been using are well over...

    FEDERAL EVO FRONT TIRE REVIEW

A new tire to me. Glad I found this post. I am running my first and only set of the stock Kendas on the front of my '13 ST LTD. I will be looking for a new set soon. I currently have over 26000 mi. on them. In looking at the pictures on Amazon of this Federal Evo tire, it appears to be a...

    Time for a belt idler?

OK, so lets try to answer No other changes. As mentioned above, the belt tension has been checked to OEM specs. I know from reading and talking to others that this "harmonic" has raised its head before or there wouldn't be aftermarket devices to correct it.

    Time for a belt idler?

Though the engine does indeed run as smooth as silk at 5K or above, there are 2 factors in play here. 1 in 24K miles, I have not had the vibration before. 2 that RPM range is where 55 mph sits. A not uncommon cruising speed in the midwest. PS, sorry for not getting back on line sooner.

    Time for a belt idler?

A question to confirm what I am already thinking. Since my last rear tire change, I have picked up a vibration in the 2 highest gears (4th and 5th) between about 4200 and 4400 rpms. Smooth above and below or under hard acceleration. I have had the tension checked on the drive belt and the...

    Advise re; tire wear

Can't agree there. I was out there tugging with them. It is just to narrow. But that 615 fit just fine.

    Advise re; tire wear

Didn't exactly go as planned I ordered and received a Altimax 605/60R15 and guess what. It was just narrow enough, we couldn't get it to seat on the rim. So down to Discount Tire we went and got a Yokohama 615/60R15 and it fits the rim just fine. It JUST fits in under the fender. It will be...

    Advise re; tire wear

If you are asking me........... I am getting the general off of Ebay for $68.99 frt. free. As an RV'er I am well aware of the tire age concerns. Just have to hope these aren't left overs with too much age on them. Time wise, this last rear lasted me about a little less than 2 years. I think...
