• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Received my new Elka Stage 2 suspenders.

some of us are a little slow Any tips on what to use for a search criteria?. I tried my best guesses and got nothing. But I admit to being the worlds worst searcher and surfer. I have been planning on using this forum to get educated on how to change both front and back and still have my...

Do I harm my Spyder's engine if I shift at higher RPMs?

I don't think so I am still riding a 998 but I do know that good engineering and constant mesh transmissions wouldn't object to that modest increase in RPM, under any form of reasonable throttle at all. I wouldn't necessarily recommend 6000 RPM and full throttle but your speed sounds pretty...

Received my new Elka Stage 2 suspenders.

A snitch disappointed. The rep told me the compression was also adjustable but the "stuff" that came with it indicates only the ride height and rebound. Can't WAIT to get them installed though. With 35K miles on the stock shocks and almost all 2 up, it's really toast. I did talk to some...

    Riding in the Ozarks

Yeah. That one covers a lot wider region than the one we used. With that one you could find rides anywhere in Arkansas. Surprisingly wherever I asked, Missouri doesn't seem to have a motorcycle specific guide. To bad. They may be missing out on tourist dollars. They have some great riding...

    Riding in the Ozarks

We just spent 2 weeks south of Branson MO riding our brains (what little their is) out. I have been to the rockies both in the US and Canada, spent last summer riding Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine and this rates right up there as far as a wonderful place to ride. The scenery is...

Let me share a Pitbull Powersports story

Well they kind of are. They are welcome to respond. But I also took special care to be dead accurate in my reporting of the story. My one error was not getting the name of the person that I talked to on the 22nd.

Let me share a Pitbull Powersports story

While I was at Spyderfest, and what a blast by the way, I was talking to a person I will call Jay (not his real name because I'm not sure he screwed this up) up in Bolivar at their service desk. I asked whether I should ride down to Springfield to order a set of Elka shocks for my ST as I...

Front suspension upgrade for the 2013 ST LTD.

But our '13s didn't. I am heading for Spyderfest right now and suspension upgrades are number one on my list. My '13 STL SE has 33K miles on it and almost all of it is 2 up. We total about 320 lbs and both the spring rates seem soft (we bottom over many bumps) and it also tells me the...

    Advise on 2013 ST

And my 2 cents is; We have '13 STL SE (automatic) and really love it. I came from the world of Gold Wings so adjusting to the 998 took a little time but I have come to love that engine. The gears are very long which makes riding a dream. I have had the heat issue fixed and no other problems...

Are these the correct pads for a 2014 ST-S?

Based on your pictures Didn't you have a sever "pull" to the right when braking?

First nyte ryde and second impression...

You already have the right idea. Though everyone does it a little different, your manual shifting to just keep it in the gear you want to be in is your best bet. Don't get paranoid in trying to be perfect. Soon you will just be shifting based on what your ears tell you and you will be...

    Brake light switch

And a repeat Wow, almost got lulled to sleep again. After NOT having this reoccur for a month, we almost missed it as we walked away from the bike. I have never tried to take the tupperware off that side, can't be to hard to get where that switch is visible. I think I will try taking a...

    Campgrounds for Spyderfest 2018

More questions re; Spyderfest. I have been to the "Spyderfest 2018" Facebook page. It doesn't seem to have any info yet on the rally. Is the rally listed perhaps on another page or is it to early for details, rides and events, to be posted?

    Campgrounds for Spyderfest 2018

But where in Springfield is Spyderfest? I haven't found anyone saying anywhere more specific than Springfield. As fulltime RVers we will be looking for RV Parks but would like to know where the rally is to be held.:lecturef_smilie:

    Question re: ultimate seats

Thanks all I didn't realise a "gas door" was an option. That adds another option to the mix. But now I know a stronger spring rod is available if needed. As always. This forum comes through. Thanks all.

    Question re: ultimate seats

We are thinking of getting a new Ultimate seat for our '13 STL SE5. Interested in anyone who would have one for sale but my real question is: With the seat and both backrests, are the gas springs that hold up the seat strong enough to hold the Ultimate seat up while fueling. Some of you must...

The 998 ST is the only Spyder for me

Couldn't agree with all on the 998 more. We (the wife and I) just spent the summer doing the back roads of PA, VT, NH and Maine in 3rd and 4th gear. The gears ratios are perfect for the 998 once you learn to let it wind out a bit. Did take my old Gold Wing ears a while to learn that, but I'm...

    Brake light switch

'13 STL SE5. I have had the brake light switch recall done last year. But twice now in the last 3 months I have gotten off the bike and noticed that the brake light has remained on. A tap of the switch turned it off. Have any of you had that as a recurring problem after the factory replacement?
