• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do you Glasses wearers manage with Helmet & Glasses?

I have bifocals so I can see distance and read the instrument cluster. Always needed glasses since I was a kid. I know they cost a little more but I buy glasses with titanium frames. The arms are very flat and very flexible. I have them because they have to fit between my hearing aids and my...

Shell Rotella T6 Out of Stock! Any available? Any Alternatives?

Yes, but so do all motorcycles I have owned too, well apart from most of the BMW's I had that had dry clutches. Given the increased oil capacity of the dry sump-ed Spyder over the motorcycles I've had, I think oil breakdown due to shearing will be less of an issue on the Spyder. All of my...

Shell Rotella T6 Out of Stock! Any available? Any Alternatives?

Castrol is essentially what Triumph puts in my twins and triples. Seems to do the job and I suspect most of their triples put way more stress on the oil than the 1330 Rotax. The Rotax being dry sump-ed will have a much greater oil capacity, less problems with oil starvation with sideways...

Shop time for no Reverse - The long wait is almost over!

Looking at a few You-tube videos, I was curious as to if the problems with switch clusters were just dirty and corroded switch contacts or something else that could be mechanically repaired. Looking inside the ones on various videos, it looks like each switch is wired to a circuit board...

Where to purchase Kenda Kanine rear tire?

Apparently Kenda tires are distributed in the US by Tucker (tucker.com). Perhaps a call to your local Tucker dealer might help you find, or at least be able to order or transfer, the tires you need. Tucker has hundreds of dealers U.S. wide so somebody may have the ability to order them from one...

Is this 2011 Spyder RT with 12000 miles worth it?

I would have to personally know the seller to even think of proceeding on this one. The scams can be pretty sophisticated. At the very least check the VIN number for being stolen. I still wouldn't touch it. In addition, this is a 2011 bike, for which the current spares situation, even down to...

Shell Rotella T6 Out of Stock! Any available? Any Alternatives?

Just in case you need a lot of it, Comolube.com sells Rotella T6 15W40 Full Synthetic in 55 gallon drums? Enough there for a lifetime of Spyder oil changes I think.:2thumbs:

2012 spyder RT been in the shop over 9 months

9 months for a throttle body set seems a little extreme. After 9 months they could have had them shipped it to Austria, had Rotax completely overhaul them, then ship them back. Then I know why they want to replace the whole thing. They charge around a grand for just the parts. You might want...

Shop time for no Reverse - The long wait is almost over!

I was looking online for some items and "https://www.canampartshouse.com/oemparts/p/can_am/710006574/housing-switch" indicates they have one on the shelf ready to ship. Merely $469.99" but there you go. It does show the updated part number, to presumably replaces the ones that keep failing...

Where can I get a Laser Alignment in NorCal or Nevada?

I cobbled together a system using my rifle bore sight lasers and marks on the garage wall to check to see if I had any toe in, which gladly it seems I do. However, it did not tell me of course how that aligned each side relative to the rear wheel which I think is probably of equal importance. I...

What parameters are changed when riding 2 up?

I've learned to ask after about an hour and thereafter for every gas station or rest area we pass. After two hours I don't even bother to ask, otherwise I can guarantee that as soon as we get out in absolutely the middle of nowhere, I had better have stopped earlier. Gas mileage is not the...

HowTo: DIY Laser Align with DIY Tool

I used a primitive system using my rifle bore sighting tools as the laser and markings on the garage wall. I just did this to see if I thought there was any toe in. I didn’t adjust anything, I was just curious to see if there was likely to be any. I think to do a proper alignment you would...

Shop time for no Reverse - The long wait is almost over!

My brand new 21 RT LTD was in from thanksgiving (the US one) until the end of last month. Mostly waiting for a variety of rear suspension air parts, culminating in a new compressor. The weather didn’t cooperate for testing though which delayed things some what. Perhaps finding a used one for a...

What parameters are changed when riding 2 up?

I must admit I never notice the changes, they must be subtle and well integrated. All in all I think BRP did a good job on the ride dynamics, for the RT LTD anyway. I think they did well on roll control versus comfort, but some like a firmer front end with a stiffer anti roll bar it seems. I had...

My spouse gets cold on the Spyder, but she's found a solution!

My wife is allergic to wool, so the Under Armor seems a good option. I never thought about heated clothing to be honest. I used to have heated gloves when I lived in the UK and commuted every day through London in the 80’s. They were uncomfortable under gloves so they kind of put me off heated...

My spouse gets cold on the Spyder, but she's found a solution!

My wife always gets cold easily while riding on the back in 50 degree temperature. So we went to Scheel’s, or Scheels.com and she bought these: Women's Under Armour 4.0 Baselayer Crew Women's Under Armour ColdGear 4.0 Baselayer Tights Now she says she’s toasty. She still uses the heated seat...

Why is my 2019 RTL getting poor fuel economy

I cruise with traffic at normal highway speeds. When I accelerate I tend to shift up at around peak torque and don’t bother revving it out to the redline. I usually ride 2 up. You have to consider, an RT LTD ways about 1,000 lbs plus riders. It might look sleek but it has the aerodynamics of an...

Looking for the perfect rain suit

I have a BMW jacket and pants that are really good. However, the pants have a mesh linit all the way down the legs which always pokes out whenever you put them on. They both stay very dry, but the pants are a pain in the neck with my arthritis try to get the linings sorted out. I'm currently...

Gasoline access from northern Indiana to Yellowstone Natl Park?

I think one of the longest freeway sections in the US without a gas station is the 100+ miles heading west from Green River Utah, on I-70. What makes that one worse is the road climbs up over the mountains so gas mileage is much reduced. I'm sure you can find a route if you try on highways, not...

Source of noise on left side of ACE 1330 engine

Yes, I had a Triumph Trophy TTSE too and that sounded like a tumble drier full of wrenches. It was smooth, powerful and loved to rev, but it did sound like it was coming apart at the seams, never did of course. I did have a Norton 850 Commando once that sounded like it was coming apart all the...
