• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    GPS Cable Hole

My GPS mount covers the hole so I did nothing. Haven't noticed it in over 40K miles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New helmets and comm units

I've used Nolan helmets and the N-Com system for years. I love the fit of their helmets and the convenience and clarity of the BT capabilities, inc. phone, FM, helmet to helmet, GPS. I had an N90, currently N43 Trilogy and recently bought an N91, modular. Their quality is super at a very good...

    Fresh Cab Rodent Repellent

In my decades long experience dealing with furry creatures building nests everywhere, eating into everything, etc., etc., I started using Fresh Cab 4 or so years ago when I saw a display at the local John Deere dealership. I liked the fact it's environmentally safe, convenient, has a faint...

    What GPS do you have

I have used my Garmin Zumo 665 for years. I've logged over 50K miles of Spyder trips since buying it. Although it's not perfect, it serves my purposes well, both on my Spyder and in my truck. I can manipulate it with my gloves on, it's waterproof, it gives me turn by turn audibles via Bluetooth...

    Rough idle

On my 12, the rough idle was the first sign of cracked map sensor hoses. After replacing them all is good. Sent from my little piece of paradise!

RAIN GEAR (Best brand & Best Price)

Might I suggest contacting BajaRon at [email protected]. He's a site sponsor, incredibly knowledgeable about his wide selection of products and reasonable prices. The First Gear combo I bought from him is far, far better than any other rain gear I've ever owned. Sent from my little piece of...

    Illinois Licensing Requirements

Unless something has changed in the last 6 years, completion of a training class wasn't a requirement for licensing. Successfully passing the written and skills test were all that were necessary. As noted above, if the skills test was taken on a 3 wheeled machine, (DMV moves the cones to...

    GPS Trip Planing

As mentioned in my earlier post, I use Tyre. But, Regardless of the route planning program you use, make sure the computer and device are synced in all respects, with the most recent maps and versions. I'm a road specific Ryder first and destination second. I have found, again regardless of the...

    GPS Trip Planing

I've used "Tyre for Travel" for years. I started with the free version and progressed to the Pro. It was light years ahead of Basecamp and/or Mapsource. Earlier this year I upgraded to the Pro version of "My Route" from Tyre. It's even slicker. It's mobile and I use it on my iPhone, even making...

Attaching a walking cane to a Spyder RT

I usually carry an adjustable walking stick on my RT. My walk assist tool is a hiking stick. I simply put it on the passenger seat and bungee it to the passenger hand holds. If I'm traveling I just throw a bag over it and bungee the bag. Cheap, quick and secure. Sent from my little piece of...

    Nolan Helmets

Sorry you've had issues with Nolan's CS folks. I've used Nolan helmets for many, many years, and have had occasion to contact CS. They have always been courteous, helpful and quickly resolved the problem. Sent from my little piece of paradise!

    Nolan Helmets

I own an N-43 Trilogy and an N-91. Both have the inner flip up/down sunshields. As said previously, if you ryde with outer shield up, the bugs end up on the inner and it's not the easiest to clean. I've never had either the inner or outer shield vibrate at any speed. I love em. Best Spyder dealers in Illinois

World of Power Sports in Decatur is 20 minutes from me. I didn't buy my first or current Spyder (12 RT) from them. It was for no other reason than price, but that was over 4 years ago. They sell tons of bikes, ATV's, and sleds. Their facilities are sizable. Rick is the Sales Manager. When I'm...

    ship a spyder

I've used UShip for numerous hauls. My first Spyder, ATV's, and a few tractors were all delivered on time, in the condition they were purchased and for a lot less money than "conventional" haulers were quoting. Good luck and enjoy your new ryde.

    Bluetooth helmet

I don't like the look of a BT/mic unit stuck on the side of my helmets. I like the fit and comfort of Nolan's and have a Trilogy 43 and an N-91. Their com devices fit flush to the helmet. They are proprietary and they aren't cheap. They pair fast and stay paired. The type of helmet and its...

Where is the GPS Plug? What connector fits?

On my 2012, the connection was located on the right side directly behind the side compartment. It was wrapped in with other wires and cables and was not in plain site. I had to reach up and behind the compartment to dig it out. As I recall it had a black cover in it. Keep looking; its there...

Smoky Mountain Spyder Rally this past weekend.

The tone, tempo and topics on forum environments seldom disappoint my interests and sometimes warped curiosities. . What does consistently disappoint me is the all too frequent public attacks on people. Sadly, this thread may be the "best" example yet. I'm knowledgeable of the topic to the...
