• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Saddlebag Cable adjustments - done from the rear or each side?

I posted that the left saddlebag lid was stuck on my brother's 2014 RT-S, that issue was resolved. Thanks Longtimer! Now we want to clean, adjust and fix both saddlebag lids. Is this done from the rear or each side? Brother Ken is coming over tomorrow to work on it. Thanks! Chuck

    Saddlebag lid stuck.

I sold my high mileage 2014 Spyder RT-S to my brother. Now we can't get the right side saddlebag lid to come off. The left side works fine but when the release is pulled you feel nothing. Is the cable broken? I know the adjusters are under the rear plastic, but you can't get to the screws...

    Time has come..

As much as I hate it, the time has come to retire from motorcycling. After 55 years and well over 1,150,000 miles. I've owned 25 motorcycles, the last two a BMW trike K1200LT, and my beloved 2014 RT-S Spyder. My Spyder... never ridden a better three wheeled Motorcycle. I wanted so to get 200K on...

    Overheated Spyder

I have returned to to spyderlovers with a question. My 2014 RT has 188,503 miles on it. After resting in my unheated garage all winter, it started right up like it should. But after running for a few minutes the temp gauge spiked way up. The fan came on but it was blowing cold air. It seems...

    My Spyder Obsession...

Some folks think I have an obsession about ryding my 2014 RT-S. I do like to ryde it. But this has been a bad season. There was the accident I had in late May. Then there were wear and tear parts that needed replaced. Now the weather has turned here in Ohio. My odometer has barely moved, only...

    160,000 mile report

Every 20,000 miles or so I write about servicing or any problems with my 2014 RT-S. This has been a very bad year for my ryding. I started out strong with 10,000 miles before May. But after an accident on May 30th, I have only 6,000 miles since. At first it was me. It took 43 days to get back on...

    A follow up...

A few weeks ago I wrote a post asking what would make my drive belt wander all over the rear sprocket. I got several opinions, one even suggesting swingarm bearings. (Thanks Gene). All good ideas. So I have the RT in the shop getting the new belt, and new rear tire. I told them to check the...

Question about "14 RT drive belt.

My "14 RT-S has 160,000 miles on it. The Drive OEM belt lasted 1o8,000 miles. Since my first ride early this winter I noticed my drive belt is all over the rear sprocket. All the way into the shoulder to way outside. The belt, when outside, is on the outside of the front sprocket as well. I had...

    The end of Chuck.

Some may know of my love ryding my 2014 RT-S, it's been my life for the last 3 years and 358 days. While ryding in the rain on May 30 I spotted a water puddle just ahead. I've ridden over puddles before and never felt hydroplaning. I passed over this one and went into an uncontrollable spin at...

    I'll compare the two.

I was looking for a 3 wheeled cycle back in 2008. I test rode a 990 GS, (I think) SE5 and again in 2010 when the RT came out. I did want one but didn't like the engine, it seemed it needed a 6th gear. I also knew I'd ride it a lot and didn't want to fill up twice or more a day. But I think I owe...

    Side case hinges.

I posted earlier I had my 2014 RT-S in for service. After getting it back I saw the right front side case hinge was broken. Of course they said it was like that when I dropped it off. I had planned to buy the side case hinge upgrade from Roadsterrenovations anyway. I'm handicapped and when I got...

    Handicapped RT rider

It's very inspiring to see handicapped riders still able to ride. I too have a handicap. I have Muscular Dystrophy. I've been riding motorcycles since I was 12. MY mother had MD, and MS. Watching her get around when I was in my late 20's I saw I had the same symptoms. MD in adults takes years to...

    150,000 mile report

Some time ago a poster asked me to keep a maintenance record of my '14 RT-S. I've been very lucky with this bike. I took it in for service March 22nd. I have the ISCI hand brake. Well,I had to refill the reservoir before each ride. Brake fluid was dripping on the muffler and it ate all the paint...

    New tires!

I used Kumho Solus front tires on my '14 RT-S in the 155-60-15 size for over 94,000 miles, 2 sets. The first set lasted over 46,000 miles, I thought I had found my tire. Both these sets never wore down to the wear bars, just wore at the edges, and those edges were bald. The only problem with...

More info on Doc's belt tensioner.

I ride my 2014 RT-S a lot. This last April I bought Doc's belt tensioner. It did work very well. However the stock spring broke after a few thousand miles. Doc sent me a new spring saying it was a thicker, better spring. But it broke as well. This time I sent the pivot arm to him for him to...

    Cannister-ectomy

I've read on this forum about the 990 V twins that had issues with starting. The vapor cannister was plugged. But my 2014 1330 is having trouble starting after it sits for a while. My dealer doesn't seem to think it's such a big deal. Whenever I stop for a short time I have to open the gas cap...

    A Magic Mirror update.

I bought my Magic Mirror magnets and installed them on my '14 RT-S. I also bought the wide angle mirrors that stick right over the stock mirrors. So I took a ride to see how everything works. Then I had a problem. I noticed the mirrors needed adjusting. So I switched on my cruise control and...

    Doc Humphries Vibration Damper

I ordered my damper last Wednesday and had it Friday. I love fast service. I watched the install video but actually doing it was easier. The hardest part was getting all the tupperware off, and even that's not all that hard. I then took my '14 RT-S out for a test ride on I-70. Earlier I could...

Oil Drain Plugs - Dimple or Gold?

My last oil change I stripped the torx head on the transmission plug. I've read some comments of replacements here. What do you recommend? And how can I get the bad plug out? There may be enough shoulder to get a vise grip on it. I hate to pay the dealer $85 to do the job. Thanks Buckeye Chuck

    Info on Spyderfest

I am considering visiting Spyderfest this April. The problem is I don't know how much walking I'll have to do. I'll need a walker or cane. I'll be using my camper and like to know how far it is to the festivities. I'd really like to meet many of the Spyder riders I only know from their profiles...
