• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for toy hauler-tow vehicle recommendations

I am used to hauling my Spyder F3L to FL each winter on my tag-along 14' aluminum trailer behind my Jeep, and spending 5 months at a manufactured home in a great little park. However, as a result of Covid and consequent inability to cross-border travel by vehicle for two years (2020-21), I sold...

Review: 2020 RTL – a most impressive ryde

Before I begin this commentary, let me explain that I have always been a committed devotee of the F3L Spyder; I bought a 2017 version, mostly because my aged hips could not tolerate the sitting position of previous years’ RTL models. On this heavily overcast morning, with my lady’s shopping...

New Years Day Spyder rydin' - Florida style

Some of the SL members in more northern areas have recently been lamenting not being able to get out for a first ryde of the New Year, or having bikes in storage, etc. As a Canadian, conditioned to winter, I do empathize. When I bought my Spyder in 2017, I decided it had to be with 12-month use...

    Seat height question - F3L 2017

Anyone out there ryding a 2017 F3L with a stock seat? Question: with your Spyder on level ground, if you were to place a spirit level across your driver seat, what would the measurement be from ground up to underside of level? In other words, what is your seat height off the ground? Second...

Love, love, love those TN, NC, WV, VA mountain roads

Cautionary note: this is just one Old Fart's opinion, and a northern foreigner at that. Also, I'm in no way an expert, or even a long-riding, experienced motorcyclist. I just returned to this stuff 2-1/2 years ago, after nearly 40 year's absence; but since my 'M' license was still valid, I opted...

    Some early 3-wheel vehicle history

Came across a book a while back with some neat photos of vintage automobiles, including early 3-wheel 'cycle cars', as they were referred to. Thought others might also enjoy seeing some fore-runners of our modern day Slingshots and Spyders. "Veteran and Vintage Cars"; photo credits to B T...

Motorcycle accidents - Why we're not always seen

An extremely interesting discussion took place today on the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) program "Quirks and Quarks", concerning research by Prof. Peter Chapman, of the University of Nottingham (England), into "WHY" motorcycles get involved in accidents with other vehicles and apparently...

    A 'beefy' DIY Spyder

My lady and I went out for a countryside lunch trip yesterday. Decided to investigate a few back roads in Central and Eastern Ontario. Stopped for lunch in the pretty little town of Bancroft. Parked our red F3L at "Granite", and went in to eat. Came back out and found this 'beefy' Spyder...

F3 front brake issue - pulling sharply to one side.

Thought perhaps I should post this as a 'heads-up' for others. I have about 18,000 km (12,000 mi) on my 2017 F3L. A couple of months back, while winter riding in FL, I did a 'hard' stop one morning, and noticed a fairly severe pull to the right - the Spyder dipped sharply and ducked to the...

WOW... we were SOOOO LUCKY (not to be in BIG trouble)

Two years ago, I bought us a used aluminum trailer to haul our Spyder south in order to ryde in FL all winter. A friend had the trailer built to haul his own RT; he then got a toy hauler, and I bought his trailer for our F3L. It was in good shape, with decent rubber. He had made the return trip...

    Wait for it ........................

Well, after being teased and told that my 3-wheel F3L Spyder is really just "an old man's ride", and made for those too scared to climb on 2 wheels, and too rich to worry about cost.... and now seeing the Ryker.... which I'm told is meant for the younger crowd who have less money and want...

Two great days of ryding in VA/TN/NC ... hoping for more

I was dreaming of ryding my Spyder all the way from Peterborough, ON, to Central FL, this year, but it just got too cold before I could set out on Mon., Oct. 29. It snowed on the Sat./Sun., so I wound up hauling by trailer again, with stops planned along the way to get in some hills, twisties...

    Planning a trip...input help/comments welcome

This fall, rather than dragging my F3L Spyder to FL from Ontario on a trailer behind my Jeep, I am thinking of ryding it down. It will be a challenge, but I think it's still do-able, for me, at 77. I don't have to hurry, and I really prefer the scenic back roads while avoiding the Interstate. My...

    COULD SOMEONE PLEASE

... create/develop a light-weight, waterproof, full-size, economic, travel-type cover for the F3L/F3T with topcase and side bags. There are lots of folks on here apparently looking and asking, so there should be a sizeable and waiting market for any manufacturer who chooses to respond. I have...

Does the Spyder have any 'Natural Enemies'?

It’s spring, and a young man’s fancy naturally turns to .................. ryding his Spyder, of course!!! (Well, at least it’s spring north of the Equator, but Aussies and Kiwis can read on, as well.) Given my desire to shake off winter blahs and begin fulfilling fantasies of cruising...

    Spyder Scorecard ?????

For me, this SpyderLovers site has always been most helpful in terms of advice, the experiences of others, and warnings of what to avoid. It is also a place where many discuss issues of concern and relate stories of poor dealer/customer relations. These reports get scattered throughout the...

From North to South, East to West, all around the World

Thank you ALL for this wonderful site and its many posts. You helped encourage us to buy our Spyder, educated us as we learned to ryde it, and you have assisted with and added to our enjoyment as we put on the miles. A wonderful festive season to you, whatever your faith or belief, and a...

    New Ultimate F3 seat

About the only thing that has disappointed me since our purchase of a 2017 F3L in early June, has been the discomfort of the stock driver seat. The ergos of the F3 are fine for me, and I enjoy its ride and handling; my missus loves the experience of being an F3 pillion passenger. I just couldn't...

Not a good year for Ontario motorcyclists

Latest report from Ontario Provincial Police shows 30 motorcycle accident fatalities on highways this year to date. Record was set in 2016, with 36 fatal accidents, so we're possibly on our way to a new high, with 1/3rd of the year remaining. Alcohol and speed reported as most common factors...

    Cyclops cg360 video camera

So, one of the 'bonus' things that came with the purchase of our 2017 F3L was a Cyclops video camera. Still sitting in the box, unused. I'm thinking of mounting and taking pics of our rydes. Has anyone else mounted and used one of these things? Is there any preferred place to mount; any advice...
