• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Heated gear: Insulated or not ?

Hi, guys: I am planning on buying a Klim Gore-Tex jacket. Klim being a windprood/waterproof outer shell without insulation, I need a thermal layer and I am considering a heated liner. Things seem to narrow down to 2 different types of heated gear: the Firstgear-style "temperature neutral"...

    Replacing the Spyder

I decided to go back to two-wheelers, and just bought a 2014 Yamaha FJR1300ES (Canadian version is black): I wanted to say thanks to all forum members for past help/advice. This forum is the most active and most helpful that I have seen so far. There is an AMAZING amount of collective...

    Bluetooth FM radio question

Anyone knows a small FM radio that would have built-in bluetooth transmitter that I could pair directly with my Sena SMH10r Intercom and listen to FM radio ? I'd love to do it with my iPhone, but I want to avoid overloading my data plan. This is for an other non-spyder setup, and I would like...

    Road toadz VS Horny Toadz

I saw that on their web site, Frogg Toggs are listing the Road Toadz under "motorcycle", but many bike stores carry the Horny Toadz in stock. Any can explain the difference between the two ? Which one is best suited for motorcycle ? ...Ben...

Drilling holes in rear trunk wall

I am in the process of installing the bluetooth dongle on my RT. I do not want the dongle in the frunk, as I have all the electronics in the back already and keep my helmet in the frunk (only when I take it off) . I was thinking of installing the dongle on the right wall of the rear trunk, on...

    2013 RT Suspension

I was at the dealer yesterday and was looking at a 2013 and a 2012 RT parked side-by-side. That's when I noticed the 2013 has lost the adjustable front shock we have on 2010-2012 models. I must have been sleeping through the various announcements and descriptions, 'caus that was news to me...

    Spare Electrical Power

Does any one know what is the max electrical load that can be added to an R/T without overloading the magneto/charging system ? I tried searching the forum and I got tons of hits, but I still was not able to find a straight answer in the dozen of threads. I am looking into auxilliary driving...

Nolan N-Com B4 Bluetooth Battery Size

Anyone can tell me how big the B4's battery is ? I have a Nolan N104 helmet. I am looking at the new Sena SMH10R bluetooth intercom and I wonder if the battery would fit inside the helmet in the location where the n-com B4 battery is supposed to go. Apparently, the Sena SMH10R battery is 5.6...

Battery Maintainers in (very) cold temperatures

I will store my RT in a non-heated garage for the winter. I am planning on leaving the battery on a battery maintainer during storage. I have seen some units from unknown manufacturers that advertize that their product will work in extreme cold temperature. As I want to stick with brand names...

    My experience with CalSci Windshield

I know there were many reports on the CalSci effectiveness, but I though potential buyers would benefit from the reading below, as it brings up points that I have not seen raised before. Bike riders can be a tough audience when it comes down to fit & finish. For the ones that will not...

Failed enabling both Analog & Digital Gauges

Since both fuel and temp gauges are grounded via the instrument cluster, I had a theory that the cluster would sense the ground return current to determine if any of the analog gauges were connected. I disconnected the ground wires from both gauges and jumpered the instrument grounds back to...

    GPS & DPS Error ?

Hi, Everyone: I just installed a Garmin Zumo 350 on my 2011 RT, and during my first long ride (150 miles) after the install, I had the DPS error for the first time ever, about 110 miles into the ride. I have 2,600 miles on the odometer. When it happenned, I stopped for about 5 minutes with the...

    GPS Power Source Question

Hi, Guys: I just bought the new Zumo 350 and I am planning to mount it on top of the dashboard. I am looking for a good way to power it: Tapping from a source that will turn off with the ignition key to prevent Spyder battery drain and allow auto-shutoff of the Zumo itself. I saw that many...

Las Vegas or South East Idaho dealers

I recently posted a thread looking for a dealer in Salt Lake city, hoping to find a CanAm summer mesh jacket. No luck so far. We are on our way to YellowStone NP, then back to take our flight in Vegas. In my area, all dealers are out of stock and cannot reorder. Anyone knows a dealer with a...

BRP Dealer in Salt Lake City

Hi, guys: I am presently on a road trip with the family, (no, not with the Spyder) and will be going through Salt Lake City. Back home, I was trying to buy a summer mesh jacket, but they were sold out at all dealers around me, and they were not able to order before next season. Anyone has...

    GPS: Small VS Wide screen

For those who have used both screen sizes: Is the wider screen of a Zumo 660/665/350 a real advantage over the narrower form factor of the Nuvi 550 or Zumo 220 ? My instinct tells me that what's ahead of you is more important than what's on the sides, but I might be missing something...

New Garmin Zumo 350 motorcycle GPS

For those of you who might have missed it, last week Garmin officially announced their first model of a new line of Zumo GPS. Their new 350 seems to be very similar to the existing 660: same screen, a few new goodies, but mostly looses the cell phone bluetooth and mp3 player... For the same...

RT Fog light: Useful or looks only ?

I have an 2011 RT/AC and I was wondering about usefulness of the fogs. Do they actually make a difference at night ? On many of the cars I have owned, they were there for looks more than anything else. Is it the case on the Spyder ? I know many like the fact that it makes you more visible, but...
