• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does a first service/oil change at 500 miles sound "normal" for a 2024 RTL

Do Not get suckered into wasting your money on an oil and filter change at less than 3,000 miles. A dealership that would tell you such horse you know what is simply trying to get into your wallet.

Should I get a 2014 now, or wait and get a newer model? Any 'gotta have' features?

I'm fortunate to be able to ride year around and do so down to 32° and I've never felt a need for a heated seat. I don't use heated riding gear either; winter riding gear and heated grips do just fine for me.

Anyone tried brake pads other than OEM &/or EBC? Successfully, or not?

When one is dealing with one's carcass, and most importantly one's coconut, going cheap on brake pads is penny wise and pound foolish plus one other word. I'll leave you to figure out what that word is.

Should I get a 2014 now, or wait and get a newer model? Any 'gotta have' features?

Only if the owner pops for the optional Tri-Axis bars ($552.49 + $325.00 for installation). I did because I bought the Comfort Seat for more leg room. They have been worth every penny. I fiddled with the adjustment just about every ride for the first three months or so. Recovered some of the...

Should I get a 2014 now, or wait and get a newer model? Any 'gotta have' features?

The 2014 RT-S has cruise control as standard. If I sound like a broken record for a '14 RT-S or Limited it's because of the success I've had with mine and, while I know there are a lot of 2020-2025 owners who have good luck with theirs, I am turned off by proprietary electronic dashboards...

That is a very attractive color; appears to me a shade darker than BRG.

Kenda Kanine front tires - Where’s the beef?

If I needed new front sneakers immediately I'd try the Continental ContiproContact

Spyder - Trader Joe's - A case of Two buck chuck will fit!

God, don't let my wife see that! She has sent me on 200 mile runs for her favorite craft brewer suds.

Should I get a 2014 now, or wait and get a newer model? Any 'gotta have' features?

The dealership technician who has been working on mine since I bought it said last year when it was in for new front Vredesteins and its biennial brake fluid flush that he doesn't see many Spyders with the mileage I have on mine.

Kenda Kanine front tires - Where’s the beef?

The Kanines are still Kendas, aka Crapendas. Once one leaves the unsatisfactory brand for quality car tires one isn't willing to risk the $$ to go back to an inferior producer.

My 2024 S2S Seat has no strut - did BRP discontinue them?

I got 11 years out of my first shock/strut and went to the Show Chrome one at a better price and strength, but we're dealing with two different designs.

Should I get a 2014 now, or wait and get a newer model? Any 'gotta have' features?

I've owned my RT-S for 11 years this month and 94,600+ miles. The only thing requiring replacement was a parking brake motor at a bit over a year under factory warranty. BRP B.E.S.T. extended warranty expired unused. I have no intention of replacing it. I do most of the maintenance myself per...

I'm going a different route on my next set of front tires - trying these IOTA EVT (Standard)'s instead!

I replaced my Federal EVO front tires one year ago due to age with Vredestein Quatrac 165/60R and now have 5,350 on them and find them supremely comfortable and very grippy. Have not ridden them extensively in the rain because my trip to Spyderquest was rain free and I have ridden in only one...

Is it possible to fit a remote (hidden) Steering lock release? How/where does it operate? Any ideas?

Look at pg 19 of your Operator's Guide and it is obvious from the text description that as Bfromla says it is some kind of deadbolt system within the ignition switch. You can prove this to yourself by turning the bars left or right but not all the way in either direction and you will see that...

Am I looking in the wrong place for Frame and motor numbers? Any advice?

This is where the frame VIN is found on a 2014 RT. My apology, the picture of the VIN is too large to upload.

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

My first encounter with Lamont was in 2018 when he recommended Federal Evo front tires to replace the POS Kendas. Bought a pair, local dealership replaced them, no questions asked or comments made. Rode them until they needed replacement and went to Vredestein Quatracs.
