• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Murphy was an optimist!

Getting close to decision time. I need some input from those who have ridden an F3-L and RTL?

If you don't try both Spyders and log some decent miles you may select the wrong vehicle for you and the pillion once you get to riding two up. Given your size and weight, you best confirm the maximum weight allowed for each type of Spyder.

What's with the Herky Jerky on first cold start-up of each day? Any thoughts?

I mentioned the point about the battery tender because comparing my actions on my first with the second battery, both Yuasa, the second is doing better than the first by better than a year, touch wood. The dealership comp'ed the Junior, and had the pigtail installed and peeking out of the frunk...

2024 RTL - The ride is a bit rough

I find that since I prefer backroads whenever possible, on some of them intersections can be worse than the Burma Road because they are not maintained as frequently as more high traffic volume roads and there are more ruts and bumps the L and R front tires are encountering.

2024 RTL - The ride is a bit rough

You also must remember you are riding a three wheeled vehicle, therefore you have three contact points with the road vice the two you have on two wheelers. That is something your brain and body will adapt to as you build some Y riding miles.

Just found these RPM levels for the 1330

The SE5 Spyders have a centrifugal clutch that has to have the engine rev to keep the clutch locked up and prevent unnecessary wear to the clutch plates. Here's the basic information about the 1330 engine torque curve.

Just found these RPM levels for the 1330

BS at the speed of light is still BS! Clutch lock up on the 1330 Ace Engine is controlled by the hydraulic control module and occurs completely at the opening of the fly by wire throttle.

My 2017 RT is Difficult to start after riding and then sitting for a hour - anyone else? Is it a dud fuel pump, bad injectors, or what?

If you're routinely riding at 70-80 on interstate highways your Spyder has the aerodynamics of a large barn door and you're going to get poor mileage. I have 92.4K miles on my Spyder and have averaged 37.3 mpg with a low of 28.3 riding several hours at 85+ on I-40 into a vicious headwind in OK...

What's with the Herky Jerky on first cold start-up of each day? Any thoughts?

First off, one question: when you are not riding your Spyder and it is simply sitting in its normal parking spot is it connected to a battery maintainer, e.g., a Battery Tender Junior? If not, why not? Now as part of your normal routine on a day on which you are about to ride try this: (1)...

I just bought a 'new to me' 2024 RTL.

Welcome! Congrats on your new ride. Do yourself the biggest favor you can and thoroughly read your Operator's Guide at least twice.

My New 2025 Sea-to-Sky - any suggestions on what gear or upgrades to get first?

Congrats to both @kwkanter and @gwbunny on your new rides. FWIW, I read many years ago on the old version of SL about BajaRon's anti-sway bar and had the dealership install mine as part of the OTD deal. When I got several hundred miles on it, I intentionally went hunting for a couple of semis on...

    Spyderless, but not gone!

We're in the same boat, Jack. When I showed the Secretary of Defense some pics of a Vanderhall in 2017 I got the old "No Way Jose" reply.

What windshield bug cleaner do you use?

I asked a parts guy at the dealership when I purchased my Spyder almost 11 years ago and he suggested nothing more than a towel and warm water laid on the windshield. Let it soak for a short bit of time and then wipe the windshield vertically from top to bottom and then give it a final vertical...

"Not always," don't you really mean "Never"?

Having trouble wiring a Garmin XT, so should I just run it on its battery? If I do, will it still show traffic?

There was a Garmin OEM support phone number, 855-607-2536, that may be of use, I don't know. When I bought my Spyder I purchased a Zumo 590 because I knew the 660 was old technology and the dealership mounted it to my Tri-Axis handlebars.

    Spyderless, but not gone!

Jack, before I would part with one shekel for a Slingshot I would check out Vanderhall. I sat in one at Deadwood a number of years ago and was impressed. They go like hell too!

2014 RT won't start - “Mode button” doesn’t work. Any ideas, or where to start looking?

Run from those local stealers as fast as you can. It is understandable that some dealerships won't service older V-twin Spyders because they are no longer in production, but dealerships that won't service the 1330 ACE engine Spyders should be reported to BRP, (888) 272-9222, and ask them to give...

What year or years of RT Limited Editions had the most problems or recalls? Any issues with 2015's?

I believe since you are looking at the second model year of the 1330 ACE engine you will find very little difference between MY 2014 and 2015. What I would be most concerned about is the mileage on the vehicles and the age of the tires. If either or both of them have Kenda tires, they are junk...

New Coolant will not circulate after refill, completing successful flush and change - anyone else? Any ideas on what might be causing it?

After draining, flushing or whatever else an owner wants to do, my service manual says to fill the cooling system and reservoir to the cold level and with the radiator cap off the bike and run it until it comes to normal temperature. Then let the bike fully cool and top it off, if necessary, to...

Parking Brake not working after storage - could this be a low battery? Anyone else?

Four miles round trip to work is among the worst things you can do to your Spyder. It doesn't get up to operating temperature in that distance. The temperature gauge only measures the temperature of the coolant, not the whole engine-transmission system.
