• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone else ever heard of using the Front cargo as an ice cooler?

OK, this is a bit of a weird question. Someone told me that they read somewhere that some Spyders had a drain plug in the bottom of the front cargo area and that it can be used as a cooler. I never heard of this... would be cool tho. Anyone else ever hear of this?

I use a soft sided cooler in the front trunk, works like a charm with the blue freezer thingies or ice.

I don't have a drain plug either, but you could certainly add one. With the lack of insulation, a soft cooler with ice packs might be more practical .

When I bought my RS back in January '11, my salesman told me to drill a small hole in the bottom, and to buy a rubber plug to use the frunk as an ice chest... I never did try it.

I too use a soft side cooler with blue ice. Considering the electric/electronics behind the frunk, loose ice and water doesn't seem like too great an idea. 😖 Just sayin'

Ride and ride safe...

Cooler..!!

Have to agree with the soft sided coolers with the ice packs. You could use ice packs in the frunk then don't need a drain. You still have to clean up. Just really can't carry other things if you fill it with ice. Slushing water could also be a problem....

My wife and I often put a small soft-sided cooler in the frunk with plastic blue "ice." Works like a charm.

I certainly wouldn't use the frunk itself as a cooler...

I used a rain cover that came with the Nelson Rigg's 950 bags, with the blue ice packs.
Real ice will make a mess, and sooner or later, damage something...

Thanks!

Thanks for all the input! Love the idea of a beer tap!!! We do a lot of bike runs and I would Love to take beverages with us. I do have a large soft side cooler that I will try this weekend.

230 grain 45 auto slug through the bottom of the trunk. Liquids will drain fine. :joke:

My favorite round next to the 30-06 coming out of my M1-Garand... just the one drain hole? How could you possibly stop until the clip is empty?

Frunk cooler

I definitely would not consider using the frunk itself as a cooler to include raw ice as the mediums... Don't forget that you have the main fuse panel, BUDS computer connection and some of them have a compartment light also.

Plus, if you had several gallons of water sloshing around in there, it should affect your handling some. Like driving a liquid tank truck!

Personally; I don't think that the 230Gr Ball ammo would be the best choice...
A 200gr Lead SWC that deforms and loses kinetic energy when it strikes the ground under the bike might be a little bit safer... (y)

Unless you use Speer's 200 gr "flying ashtray"!

John,
Would you want to try using tracer rounds in that Garand for opening up those eight holes??

The red & black (with white stripe) Coleman "soft sided" cooler fits perfectly in the frunk. Great for cold drinks or water on long trips. Excellent for putting ice cream, butter, milk, or meat products if running to the store.
