• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for interest in taking a few days or long weekend, get some Spyders together in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Mackinaw City as a base camp or gathering place and go out from the there. "3 Days 3 Great Lakes" would be great to get 3 Doors Down to play  Anyway. Looking at the last week of July to maybe piggy back on this. http://www.upcruising.com/main.htm already got some owner willing to sue their lake homes as stop offs etc.

Actually I think we are going to have to use the first weekend in August at the end of the upcruising week. I am not available the last weekend of July, I can do the third weekend of July or the 1st or 2nd weekend of August. If this is my buddy Bitten, just let me know. I sent an email to that hotel in Mackinaw City and I'm waiting for a response. I will PM you with further details.

It is official folks, We will have a "Three Great Lakes in Three Great Days" Aug. 1st. 2nd and 3rd. Easy as 1..2..3.
We will have an official meeting place in ST. Ignace MI which is the town on the UP side of "the Bridge". Also, we will be posting hotel and motel information for people that want to make reservations. Places fill up fast up north here in Michigan in the summer time so we are hoping to have that info to you very soon. We have one that has already agreed to give us their 11 rooms and be our HQ for our first "annual" event and I am waiting on a few others that will be willing to give us some special considerations. Should have some details to post by tomorrow. Hope to see people interested in this "Great" adventure.
Deb

Okay everyone, we have a Motel for our main meet. They are being very accommodating. Here is the email response I received from the owners of the motel:

Hello,
Hi Deb! My name is Kathy, and my husband Tim and I would be very happy to accomodate as many riders as we can. It's very exciting to here about a "1st Annual" because it can only get better from there. There is nothing like the upper peninsula in the summertime! Beauty everywhere!

Tim and I have 11 rooms to offer and right now my calendar is clear for those dates in August. Our rooms are very nice and CLEAN. We are easily accessable to many area attractions should our guests happen to venture out to enjoy all St. Ignace and the surrounding area has to offer. We are the closest motel to the Kewadin casino if anyone would be interested in trying their luck after a great day of riding. Each guest will recieve $5.00 in tokens from us and the casino offers free shuttle service.

The Cedars Motel is listed on the Upcruising web site for all the motorcyclists enthusiests. We offer a 10% discount on the room rate, per night, when you show your Upcruising membership card. At that time our room rates are $58.00 plus taxes for a queen room with two guests. The rooms with two double beds is at $62.00 plus taxes with two guests and $10.00 dollars apiece for the third and fourth person. We have in-room coffee pots and also offer a nice variety of items in the continental breakfast from 7:30-11:00 am everyday.

Tim and I sure hope that what we have to offer is suitable for everyone. All who are interested can check us out on our web site at www.thecedarsmotel.net. We can also be reached via telephone at 906-643-9578. We hope we have helped you out with all of the information you need, but if other questions should arise, please don't hestitate to contact us. We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Tim and Kathy Nolan
The Cedars Motel

If we need more rooms here are some other hotels/motels that give discounts with the UPcruising card that you can get for $10.00. The UP cruising site is http://www.upcruising.com/main.htm The St. Ignance hotels that give discounts listed at that site are St. Ignace

Cedars Motel

Bear Cove Inn

Budget Host Inn

Econo Lodge Inn

If you are looking for other accommodations here is the ST. Ignace directory: http://www.stignace.com/

Book early these sites fill up fast in the UP of Michigan in the summer months. I am booking my room tomorrow morning. Hope to see many of you there. I will repeat this message in a few of the regional forums.

Being I had to look this up for the dates...

bumpity bump for new members and Spyder owners.

Wow, that would be a nice ride, I wish I could go! I've been all over MI, and the UP and love the mighty Mackinaw bridge.

Too bad I only have my Ontario M1 license which prohibits me from using divided highways. And I cannot upgrade to my unrestricted license until August 4th!!

Have a great ride, hopefully I can join everyone next year!

Deb, will look forward to your posts concerning the UP trip. I would like to see that part of the country. BTW, my daughter moved to Rockford, just north of Grand Rapids, a few months ago so we will be going up there to see the Granddaughter. Wish you guys could join us on the Moonshine lunch run on the 9th. See you in Cuba.

It is right here on SpyderLovers. When you click the forums button up top, the very last column has all the states listed so people can talk about regional stuff. It is all still part of SpyderLovers. It is all good, you will catch on in no time. And as I stated, we do plan on another ride similar to the one you mentioned and we will keep you updated.

Hey Deb,
Well I called Kathy at Cedars Motel and tried to reserve a room for Joan and I for the UP trip. She remember us from three years ago and is more than willing help us book the rooms. As I was talking to her she informed that she hadn't talked with you. That's when I noticed the post was from 2008:hun:. Anyway I have a room reserved, all I have to do is confirm the dates. So Joan and I are in....whenever the dates are set.
Bob

You won't be out of commission that long. We will probably plan this ride for July or Aug anyway. I'll try to get you some details in the very near future.
