• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Weather.com has been predicting rain and thunderstorms for the next couple of weeks, but today and possibly tomorrow will be dry.

So I geared up and went for a ride to Byrdstown, Tennessee. What's there, you might ask? My friend told me about a little diner there that she had been wanting to check out. So off I went!

And as one might expect, I started out with Apple Carplay not wanting to connect. :::grumble:::
I put the key in, turned it on, rolled the throttle forward. I then turned on my iPhone, plugged the cable in, then turned on my headset. Nothing. No messages at all, not even the normal "headset connecting" message.

So I pulled the Spyder out of the garage and to the end of the driveway.

I then went into the Preferences menu, Checked the Bluetooth settings, and it said my headset wasn't connected. So I tapped on the headset settings, and it listed my SENA 3S Plus headset, but it wasn't connected. So I clicked the "Connect" button and it connected...and then Carplay was active. :::grumblegrumble:::

So Apple Carplay worked throughout the trip. I have it set to avoid freeways/interstates, so I had a nice drive through about 50 miles each way of 2 lane country roads.

I saw two smooshed skunks, smelled four other skunks (total of six stinky skunk areas), smelled woodsmoke twice, and got rained on twice. Once decent shower on the way up that soaked my jeans, and then some rain sprinkles in the last two miles before I returned home. I think I need to reapply the Rain‑X Plastic Water Repellent to my windshield and helmet, as the raindrops weren't running off very well.

Since the temps were in the mid-80s F I'm pretty sure the woodsmoke came from brush/scrap wood burn piles. It's a very rural rear with lots of farms, so burn piles are legal. I also noticed several corn fields that looked close to being ready to harvest, so I think I'll be seeing fresh corn in the grocery stores soon.

Oh, and the restaurant my friend mentioned? When I rode past at about 11:30 this morning the parking lot was packed, so I'm guessing they have pretty good food.

If one wants to enlarge one's carbon footprint, two lane country roads are the only way to go. I enjoy too riding through areas where farmers, the world's biggest gamblers, are rotating their crops. It's primarily winter wheat, corn, soybeans, and cotton where I live.

I know I saw soybeans and corn, and there might have been wheat.

I don't remember seeing cotton so I checked online. Google found some information from the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture. There are a few counties in Western Tennessee that grown cotton, but none in Middle or Eastern Tennessee. So no cotton.

As for the carbon footprint, at least I was riding my Spyder, and not driving my Honda Ridgeline truck...
