Coming back to a Spyder - anyone found a dealer selling both BMW bikes and Spyders?

Hi everyone, well it's been about 8 years since I changed from my RT back to 2 wheels. Now I want back to the Spyder, a new SeaToSky model. I sure do miss the convenience and comfort of the Spyder as 90+ percent of my riding is 2-up and long trips.
My current ride is a 2024 BMW Grand America but what I am finding out is that most dealers extremely lowball any trade-ins of brands they don't sell.
Has anyone come across a dealer that sells both BMW bikes and Spyders? Web searches don't seem to work well. I am willing to travel outside Arizona if I need to, within reason as I would always enjoy another road trip. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Google search for "can-am dealer that also sells bmw motorcycles in arizona" turned up several in Arizona:

https://www.goaz.com/ (Scottsdale)

https://www.ridenowgoodyear.com/ - multiple locations

Your best financial outcome will always be to sell what you have in a private transaction, then take the money and get your best deal on the other end. This is how you maximize both ends of the transition in your favor. You'll have more left to spend on bling!

The alternative is to let the dealership get the best of both.

Unfortunately, a lot of dealers show up in those searches but in reality, when you check out their sites, they only sell one of the brands, or if both, they sell only the 4-wheeler Can-Am's, not Spyders.

Exactly what BajaRon said!
And if can get financing and insurance yourself, instead of relying on what the dealership offers, you'll come out way ahead!

My apologies, as I didn't dive deep into their actual inventory.

They are going to low ball the heck out of you and make you feel like they're doing you a favor! I sat down in NC at a shop for three hours, we went back and forth three times 'til I said "enough, enough! I am out of here". The sad part is that we were about $1200 apart from the deal and they would not move! Good luck, like Ron said you would be better off to sell the BMW by private sale and find a good second-hand bike like I did. The guy just didn't like it, had 700 miles on it, so I got it for about $6000 cheaper than the dealer price! So, they are out there; don't be in a big pump! Good Luck!

I agree with all of the above. I too am in NC and was able to find a 2 year old (at the time) 2021 RTL for $10k under what a new one would cost, and it only had 469 miles and still was under warranty. Like you, I also have a BMW (2019 K1600B). For me, that is my 2 wheeled, one up machine. It is the only 2 wheeler that I have ever owned that didn't make me look too big. Good luck with your search for the Spyder, and hopefully you can sell your beemer.

I also agree with BajaRon. You will always get the most out of your ride selling it direct instead of to a dealer. You have to figure that they need to make a profit on the resale. That being said, my local Can Am dealer, Powersports of Modesto also sells BMW.

Thanks everyone for the valuable input. Selling direct in my area is tough since the nearest major town is 90 minutes away on a good day. You have to price it on the low end to get anyone to come out. Same for checking out slightly used machines, it's an all-day event by the time you get into town, fight with the traffic, check out the machine etc. My wife and longtime 2-up partner - she just says let's find one at a dealer and let her do the talking to get us a fair deal on the trade and on a new Spyder. (Notice I said "fair", not "good" or "great", because I'm not sure that's possible :-)).
Anyway, after a lot of back and forth at the dealer, we ended up with a 2025 Sea2Sky and broke it in on our 100-mile journey back home.

Being in my mid 70's now, I felt like the trip down to the dealer was probably my last venture on 2 wheels which was kind of sad. However, the trip back home on the Spyder had me smiling and thinking about the summer trips coming up this year. I have already ordered a sway bar, convex mirrors, and some foam grips that I will be installing when they arrive. Since we have always taken our trips riding 2-up, I know the Spyder will be very comfortable for her. The BMW was good, but the Spyder has more room and if I can find some armrests in stock, I will add those also.

If anyone has other suggestions on long distance touring accessories for the Spyder, I appreciate your input. If we hold to the pattern we have had on our bike, we average about 6-9k miles each season. Looking forward to doing this on the Spyder from now on. :)

Do a google on those armrests, got them for ours, not really impressed with the fit and finish, but only I see it. Congrats, on the new ride!!!! I've put a 2" riser on the bars, armrests for the bride, sheepskin cover for my seat so far, got to make it yours!!!
