• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Preferably lower bucks,may want second Spyder in a few years,but for now want something to ride so Ruby can drive the 200.

I am looking at an older Harley shovelhead and would like some opinions from any HD folks with experience with pre-EVO/singlecam shovels. HDX??:D

Thanks for your opinions. I m also considering a 85 Vmax for 3K(from a collecter in CA with 8500 mi) and a 86 Venture Royal,asking 1700 OBO.

But the HD sure tickles my geezerly fancy..I m still stuck in love with shovels.nojoke.:thumbup:
 
Suzuki 650 V-Strom. Great value and excellent bike. It's just a little ugly, but the ride quickly out weighs that.

Thanks for your responses. I m glad to hear about the negetive aspects of the shovel. I get all wrapped in nostalgia-love and forget the reality of the situation. Those old Sportsters I owned required a bag full of tools and a trailer to go a few hundred miles also. It looks like a fun bike to drive a few miles to a Thursday "Bike Night", but thats about it. I think I ll pass.

I,too,owned a 82 (non Royal )Venture years ago.What sold me on it was cruising on the back of a friends Venture. I glanced over his shoulder and was dumbfounded..we were cruising along at a leisurely 115mph.Older Ventures were/are FAST!

First thing I noticed was the top heaviness. I tipped over once on a lawn on its right side. Not thinking, I picked it up and then realized I couldnt mount it. Stood there honking my horn. My neighbor(a fellow Venture owner, strangely enough) drove by and saw me and came to my rescue. I like the power and smoothness of the Venture,tho. But tippyness is one of its downfalls.

I may check out the Vmax next week. Now THAT would be fun:thumbup:(and reasonably priced) I also am interested in possibly an old Honda 900, like early 80s. The ones with the hi/lo transmission, like THIS ONE.

Oh,BTW HDX, the problem with that Sportster I contacted you about was a crankshaft sensor of some sort.

And..here is where we ended up yesterday.(see pic) Unfortunately, I didnt get to meet Janine Turner!:(

Awesome bike but I was always tinkering with it...

Lots of inexpensive Import bikes out there that might be a better choice...

I know exactly how you feel. My Spyder has fallen over several times and I've needed help to pick it back up. I'm patiently, or not, waiting for ataDUDE to get his Side-Kick on the market! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
