• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Front brake pad clips

Someone DIY made one  for the back of pad not the one on pin. Think was out of music wire

That would be me and it was for the left front on a 2012. One of the clips broke and at that time you could only get new ones with a set of factory pads. They are not available from BRP separately. According to their ads EBC now supplies those new clips with a new set of pads.

You need a really stiff wire to make this work. I went to my hobby shop and bought some piano wire in as close to the right thickness as I could. I did a very poor job of bending a replacement but after 2 or three tries I got one close enough that it has worked for about 10K. I thought I had a picture but I guess it is gone. ANy way if indeed EBC now includes the clips I would buy one set of pads just for the clips. I asked all the dealers in Utah but nobody had any spare clips so I had to make it and it worked so far.

Brake Clip #1.jpg So as I said before it took me a bout three tries to get it to this point. Fortunately the piano wire came in about an 18" length so I had plenty of material.

In the picture the clip on the left is the DIY replacement the clip in the center is the broken one and the one on the right is the good one. I used a real small set of needle nose pliers that I use in building model RR stuff. If this hadn't worked I would have gone to my dealer and sprung for a single set of pads just to get a clip.

Whats the purpose of the clips? Are they on both pads/wheel?

this is what holds the pad to the caliper puck so it gets pulled back when it retreats after you apply it. It also holds the pad in place so it doesn't go flying out when you try to stop.

Clips

Has anyone measured the diameter of the wire used for the clips? I would like to get some wire in advance of starting a brake job. THANK YOU

If I remember right the diameter of the wire I used was .049. I don't remember the diameter of the wire BRP uses but that is close. Like I said before,it is ugly but it works.

The EBC pads no longer come with the clips either. You can only get them with BRP pads.

According to William at EBC brakes in Las Vegas the fronts do come with new clips, PN# FA474V and you would need 2 sets. Rears do NOT come with clips.PN# FA473V 1 set.

Yes. they did for a while. Then they stopped. Just got several sets from BajaRon this week, the clips are no longer included. I even asked about it.

Interesting between the time I called and the time you called they stopped:dontknow::dontknow:. Maybe this was and old box or I guess different employees have different information. All I know when I called and asked they told me yes they did gave me the part # and looked in the box to confirm they were there.
