There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Getting tired of waiting for replacement coolant tank

Looks like we should have taken up Firefly's offer to overnight us his spare coolant tank. So far our week in Albuquerque has consisted of waiting for the dealer to tell us he finally received his shipment with our parts in it. We managed to put over 450 miles on a rental car in 2 days but it's due back at 2 tomorrow and there is still no sign of our Spyder. I can't imagine the dealer doesn't have an accurate way to track shipments...whatever happened to tracking numbers? :banghead: Nothing like being stranded with no transportation except a 38 ft toyhauler missing its toy. :gaah::gaah::gaah: Maybe BRP will bring some spare tanks to Durango...we'll turn this into a multi-state repair.

Have you asked them to remove one from a floor model? My starter came off a showroom RS when I broke down on my way to Lamint's barbecue in 2010. How about calling BRP?

I hope they get you back on the road tomorrow.

Seems like I remember someone telling me the SeaDoo uses the same tank. Might be worth asking. :dontknow:

We're supposed to hear back from the local dealer by 10 this morning...we'll have to check on whether he has a Sea-doo tank then if he says he still doesn't have our tank. Thanks for the recommendation. He has already declined to take parts off one of the Spyders in stock for us. Ed tried that approach when we got here. I'm beginning to wonder how long the list of "spare parts to bring with us when we are counting on getting around on the Spyder" is going to get. We might as well become a :spyder2::spyder2: family so we always have a spare! (Don't know that I'd get THAT one to fly, but we have been talking about bringing alternate transportation with us when we travel).

Sorry to hear of the misadventure with the coolant tank. Can't believe the dealer is not more accomodating to a traveler in distress.

Unfortunately, they are getting some free advertising of the wrong kind. I don't understand why they would not get you the tank, as in now. With another on the way, it should be no big deal to get you on the road, and back to your vacation.

Please keep us posted.

man thats horrible I just had the same problem where I had to get a tank sent to me from a different dealer . its fixed and all good now but man what a pain LOL

I had the privilege of riding with DocRags and Ed tonight. Great folks, and I really enjoyed our night ride. It's so cool when you meet people from this site and they don't disappoint! I couldn't have asked to meet a nicer couple. Thanks for the ride! I had an awesome time!!!
best,

Not to hijack this thread.................

I'm glad all worked out for those involved, but in my opinion, this thread REALLY highlights one of the growing pains that BRP needs to address.

These machines, particularly the RT are TOURING machines. There is a VERY good chance that you will require service when you are far from home and your Spyder is the only vehicle you have.

Last year, in Gatlinburg, I got a check engine light. I called up the local dealer and asked if they could toss it on the computer and see if I had a problem I needed to worry about. I was told to bring it in and they'd get to in in a couple of days. They had local customers with appointments who came first.
I was livid. I wasn't asking for a major engine overhaul. Just 5 minutes on the computer for a diagnosis.
I told them I was down from Connecticut and needed help. They didn't budge.
In retrospect, maybe I should have said I was from Georgia. They might have been more helpful.
The check engine cleared, otherwise, I would have been stuck with no ride.

I have found the BRP factory customer service is excellent beyond compare. The people at corporate technical support have bent over backwards to help, and my local dealer is fantastic.

But the dealer network in general needs some upgrading. Particularly when it comes to servicing out of state customers. Travelers who need help should be able to count on service, otherwise no one will be touring on these machines.

Say what you will about Harley Davidson, but their service network is excellent.

Well, as Andy's post says, we are finally back on our Spyder.:yes::yes: The 10 a.m. phone call turned into an 11:30 one, but we found out they were working on installing the part at the time. At first we were told it would be an additional $49 to check the codes if nothing was showing up on the bike when we brought it in...Erags told them if they ran it a minute or so it would be lit up with all sorts of codes and they could check them at n/c then since the bike would have no coolant. Then we were told with all the aftermarket mods (i.e. tricleds!) it could cost us $98 more. That's not to mention the $49 charge we were told would occur when they put the bike back together since they hadn't taken the bike apart! He told them to scratch that and he'd put the pieces of tupperware back on. He sat & waited at the dealer's while I returned our rental car to the airport and sat there. Around 3 o'clock we were finally on the road. Final cost for a broken coolant tank: $53.50 for the warranty work, 6 days without Spyder riding, $200+ for the rental car, and a whole bunch of frustration. Had a fabulous sunset ride with Andy. (Erags will tell you the backseat Nanny was going off an awful lot as he tried to catch up to Andy going down the tramway road).

I had the impression that Andy was kind of a hot rod :lecturef_smilie:
