• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Going to try Balancing beads; should I remove weights?

Going to try the balancing beads, question should I remove the garage lead weights before I add the beads , thanks.

I have no experience with beads, but it is reported that they replace weights, so it won't hurt.

Just in case, I would mark where the weights are, so you can put them back, if necessary.

Just installed the beads and did not remove the lead weights and the bike is now running like a charm. Will use them in the future and will not use the led weights. Thanks for all the input.

Ron, do you recommend the beads?

I do. Especially for the rear tire which is difficult, at best, to dynamically balance. Satisfaction isn't universal if you look at the online reviews. But we have had very good success with our customers. We offer both methods, spin balance with weights or beads, for front tires. But only the beads for the rear. Some of the on line (not any of our customers) dissatisfaction comes from the difficulty of loading the beads through the valve stem. Some come from reported issues with FOBO's and getting stuck in the valve stem.

I did a good amount of research before settling on the Magnum+ Brand. All bead versions work in similar fashion. And while there is no perfect product. We liked several factors with this one. These beads are larger and rounder than most. You can't put them in through the valve stem. But they won't get stuck in the stem and they work fine with FOBO's. They aren't abrasive like the ceramic and in tests, they remain round and don't wear as much as ceramic beads.

Spyder tires take 3oz - 4oz.

I have never used the balancing beads. But I have used Ride On Wheel Balancer and Sealant and it worked great. I left my weights on when I applied the Ride On. Good luck.

I have done the same thing and I like Ride-On. I've done it with and without the balancing weights. Seems to work well either way. The beads balance the tire almost instantly whereas Ride-On takes a bit longer. Quite a bit longer if you let the bike sit for a few weeks and it's cold. On the other hand, balancing beads will not stop a puncture leak like Ride-On will. Ride-On will keep the tire cooler than balancing beads. A tire wear component. Not sure how critical this is on a Spyder though.

It is a myth that Ride-On makes a mess or that tire shops won't work with a tire if it has Ride-On installed. Ride-On stays put and resides only on the inside of the tread area. It isn't a problem at all.

I have used the balancing beads in my previous motorcycles, even a Kawasaki VN1600 Nomad with a rear car tire and they worked great. Yes, you are supposed to remove the lead weights.

Just replied to another post on balance beads.
Forgot to mention the Counteract kit come with new valve cores that keep the beads out of the valve stem.
This company has been around for over 20 years.
