There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. GOT MY KUMHO ECSTA TIRE TODAY

Interesting story behind this one. Ordered the tire from Discount Tire, going directly to the store. I call after a week to see if it came in. Dude says no, so I tell him I will just pick it up when it arrives. He asks, no installation? I say no. He says no problem, he will call me when it comes in. Calls me back 2 minutes later asking what vehicle it goes on? I say a 2010 Chevy Cobalt, since that shows up on their website as a fit for the tire. He asks me if they are stock rims or aftermarket? I say aftermarket. He asks what is the width of the rim? I tell him I don't have a clue, is there a problem? He days the tire won't fit and he can't sell it to me. Typical stuff everyone else has gone through on Spyderlovers.

So I go on EBAY and order the same tire, from Discount Tire Direct. I'm waiting on the email back asking what car it is for. Get the order confirmation, no questions yet. 2 days later the tire is sitting on my carport.

So now I get to go to Honda of Winston-Salem Saturday morning to get the tire put on, and an oil change. I'm bringing my own oil and a set of Gold Plugs for them to replace the stripped out drain plugs with, that I discovered when I changed my oil a couple of months ago. At least if I can find time. Working 6 or 7 days a week, 13 or 14 hours a day on night shift, doesn't leave much time for riding, let alone sitting at a dealership. Whenever I get it done, I won't be getting any sleep that day before going in to work that night. It will be worth it to get that stripped out middle OEM rear tire off. Rode the Devils Whip and Diamondback on Labor Day and was sliding sideways all over the turns

By the way, I got 12,000 miles out of the rear tire, but the middle has been gone for the past couple of thousand miles. I will update how the ride is once I get the tire on and drive it for awhile.

Whoa..!!

the pressure is really on at the stores..:hun: they could just tell you to buy them online. Many stores have items you can only get online. and if they don't mount them..what do they care. :gaah:o

I agree. I've told numerous people about how Discount Tire won't sell tires without knowing what it is going on and they all have said why do they :cus: care? I tell them I guess its a liability question. Just sell us the tires and if we get killed, it's on us.

I guess I have been lucky. I ordered 2 from discount tires. Each time I just told them the size and brand of tire that I wanted. They ordered it and asked if I wanted it installed, I said no, end of story.

Glad to hear that you persevered, and managed to run the gauntlet that Discount Tire tried to throw in your path!

i talked to discount tire last night on the wholesale side & i asked about why they ask, i was told several things first off yes it is liability issue.
they want it to be done right but they also have a major liability if they, the experts sell you the schnook the wrong tire whether you say you
understand or not does not change liability. i know this from my insurance company, i don't sell used tires & they have told me they don't want
me to do stretched tires even though some oem tire/wheel set ups are considered stretch from factory.
on a side note, he also told me they are the largest tire retailer/wholesaler in the country with over $6 billion in annual sales with over 600
retail stores & averaging 3 new stores/month. so no matter what you think or say they must be doing something right

If you order by size at Discount Tire Direct online you are never asked what vehicle it is for. Have the tire delivered to your home.

Ann,
Have you ever noticed a difference in how the Kenda felt on the road, versus the aftermarket tires that you have tried? :dontknow:
Even though I'm running "only" 25 psi in the Kumho, the sidewall seems to ride stiffer than the Kenda did at 28 psi...

I have put a couple hundred miles on the Kumho and feel like the sidewall is stiffer. Rides great but any new tire does. I also laid down a 70 foot burnout at work last night. Ya gotta love that!

I had a set of Brigstone Potenzas installed on the front of my 2010 RT at Tire Discount back in the Spring of 2013. One of the original tires had a high spot. They did the install because I couldn't get the lug nuts off the front wheels. They didn't have any issues or questions about the install.

In the late Fall of 2013 I think, I purchased a Kumho from them for my RT. Picked it up at the store. I had two Spyder buddies, Hazel & Darcy, help me with the install because they had done one before. We had the tire mounted at a local Wally World. This is when I discovered the neat Criket tool for adjusting the drive belt's tension!

I was looking at the invoice for the Brigstones last month. There was a note that when a single set of tires (one axle) are installed, they would be put on the rear of the vehicle for safety. I just laughed!

Bob, I haven't had a Kenda on my Spyder for about 52,000 miles and I can't remember that far back.
