• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

GPS sun shade

What is everyone using? I have a Tom Tom Rider 3 and the screen gets washed out when the sun is shining. I'm trying to find one that will work.

Thanks for any help.

An anti-glare screen protector for smartphones and tablets works great. That's what I use. Screen is still visible, barely, when the sun is shining directly on it. I even have one on the cluster main screen. Less money also, although the Glarestomper price is not outrageous.

Sun shade

I took a plastic food storage container (similar to Tupperware), cut it in half and painted it black. Used a container that is just a bit wider than the GPS. I have a RAM mount and mounted the shade between the RAM mount and the RAM 1" ball that is held by the RAM arm. Not perfect, and it could probably be improved by using a different shaped container. (deeper would provide more shade) For the price it works OK. Lots of people ask where I got it, my answer "A kitchen cabinet."

My new Robbin's Hood appears to work well on one short ride; time will tell. I agree with Bob that is't tough to find one that works 100% of the time, particularly if mounted on the handlebars.

Are you saying that you use one of these on the display screen of your Spyder? If so, is it effective? I find that the daytime screen of my Spyder just is hard to read for me. The nighttime screen is much clearer for my eyes, but I generally don't ride at night. Just wondering whether an anti-glare screen protector that you refer to would help my situation. If so, do you have a link, or any other suggestions? (I have a 2016 F3-T, if that matters.)

Thanks.

DIY

Made my own out of 1/8" thick black thermoplastic. It's hard plastic but a heat gun allows forming. Unless the sun is low and behind--- it works perfect.

If the mount isn't tightened to the point of being immovable: you can always tip the GPS up or down a bit, to help with the chances of being able to see it.

It is very effective for cutting the reflection of daylight. It won't do anything to make the numbers, etc., sharper. In fact they get just a touch fuzzy. I found that daylight, not just direct sunshine, reflecting off the screen blocked all the images behind the screen. The anti-glare protector cuts down on the reflection. I have it over just the rectangular central part of the cluster. The speedometer and tachometer show up good enough as is, plus I don't pay close attention to them anyway.

I used a screen protector similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Tech-Armor-P...&sr=8-14&keywords=anti+glare+screen+protector. There are dozens of different ones available, either online or local store like Best Buy. They come in all sorts of sizes but I'd just buy one for a tablet and cut it to either fit the center round portion of your cluster or the whole cluster.

I tried taking a picture to show the difference but I just couldn't get the camera to capture the difference I see with my eyes!
