• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I need a good full face helmet. I have a round head and would probably wear a 2X. Would like to have bluetooth and something light weight.:ohyea: What you would you suggest? If I haven't asked for enough already I would like Pink:joke:, but a just a good helmet would be nice.:p

Helmet fit is critical to your safety and comfort. It is impossible for one person to recommend a helmet for another. Most people wear helmets that are too large, just for comfort, or to get the tight spots to fit better. To get the right helmet, the best way is to try them on in a well-stocked store (or at a motorcycle show) in person. You may not choose an Arai helmet, but they have a good guide to fitting a helmet on their Website.

Every helmet has different features and qualities. I own and have owned several brands. I personally like the Arai line due to the different shapes they offer. It is easier for me to find something that fits my lumpy head. Other people have their own favorites. Whatever you choose, I recommend that you try it on in the store. Fasten it, and walk around a long time...at least five minutes. That way you can note any hot spots or tight areas, the fit around the ears, etc. Have someone with you, or look in the mirror to note if your skin moves as you twist and move the helmet back and forth on your head. The skin should always move with the helmet, in every direction. Pull up on the back of the neck to make sure the helmet cannot come off when fastened properly. If it does, or can move over your eyes, it is too big. Also remeber that a helmet loosens in time, as the liner wears in. A new helmet should fit quite snugly.

Best of luck in your quest for the perfect lid!

+1 what Scotty said. Also a note that helmets differ - one brand fits in XL, another might require XXL. If you are going for sound (ear speakers) make sure they will fit next to your ears!

Happy shopping!!

I like Nolans. They have bluetooth communication and yes, they come in Pink. Look at the Motorcycle Superstore web site.

:agree:+2. Sometimes a given model of helmet can fit differently than another model from the same manufacturer. I did some snooping around my local Cyclegear store just yesterday and decided to try on a few lids I was intrested in. I take a large Shoei RF-1100 with 37mm cheek pads (up from the stock 35mm), but the new Qwest model fit better in Medium. Oddly, all the Arai helmets I tried did not feel right. My nose was pressed right up to the visor which I didn't care for. So you really do have to go and try it on, wear it around the store for a while and see how it feels after about 5-10 minutes.

The Icon Airframe Carbon is a sweet helmet man! This will probably be my next helmet purchase. Took a medium in that one too. But it's expensive, so it remains on my wish list!

Yup. I actually won a Nolan Tirade Helmet and as it turns out, it's a pretty nice lid! Very lightweight and good aerodynamically as well. Could use a slightly better Chin strap setup. The Blinc III Bluetooth works well but is not very compatible with other Bluetooth setups, so that is a limitation. But no sweat for me. Sound is not great but OK when listening to music, but call quality is very good. I really like the FM tuner feature!

+ another on what Scotty said. My wife and I are looking at new helmets...I like the fit of the 3x Shoei Multitech and she likes the Aria Full face...but they are pricey...We went to cycle gear and tried several on but have not purchased yet because we want to Ride with the helmet to make sure we like em...Cycle Gear offers a 7 day exchange and my bike is still in the shop...:gaah:

I thought the Tirade was an O'Neil...

WOOPS! You are correct. The Tirade is in fact O'neil. My Bad! :opps:

:agree:+3 For me Shoei fits better than Scorpio or BRP (which is also Scorpio for the model I have). If you don't mind a little bit of headache, it will form to your head and feel better after 20 - 30 hours of wear. Also, some people don't like the weight and others don't mind. It's all personal preferences and comfort level.

I looked all over for a helmet. For prices and comfort. Also for protection. I ended up buying a helmet from leather up. :firstplace:
Here is a online discount code if you purchase from leather up. It is 10% off your order. The number is 55633.
Good luck

Scotty gave some great advise. Fit is about 100% of what you're looking for in a helmet because if it don't fit the rest is just window dressing. After you find the fit you need then you start looking at the other aspects.

If you're looking for a helmet in the Arai, Nolan, Shark, Scorpion or Sparx brands I may be able to save you some money.

Be safe, get the right helmet!
